Chapter 34 - The Skeleton's Surprise
“I’ll give it a try.”
The crimson flames in Jiang Cheng’s eyes condensed as he glanced at Natalie, then stepped in front of Zhang Mengmeng.
With Zhang Mengmeng’s current skills, facing the Skeleton Dragon General was no different from seeking death.
The only reason he didn’t charge in immediately was because Natalie didn’t seem intent on harming them.
Otherwise, with her level in the thousands, they would have long perished.
“You?” Natalie looked at Jiang Cheng in surprise.
“You two don’t seem to have a master-servant relationship,” she continued, “A couple, perhaps?”
Smiling faintly, Natalie commanded the Skeleton Dragon General, “Your identity makes me very curious. Regardless, at your strength, you likely can’t withstand a single blow…”
Clang!
A light ring exploded out.
Momentum Flash Strike, one of the Fourteen Divine Techniques, activated!
In a flash, Jiang Cheng rapidly retreated from under the Skeleton Dragon General’s blade, only a -1 damage floating above his head, causing Natalie’s expression to freeze slightly.
“This…”
Natalie was a bit dumbfounded. She had just said Jiang Cheng couldn’t block the Skeleton Dragon General’s blade and was about to have it show mercy.
But…the next moment her words were thrown back in her face…
“What technique is this?”
Borrowing force to retreat?
In her thousand years of life, Natalie had never seen anyone use such a method, nor someone at Jiang Cheng’s current strength take a blow from the Skeleton Dragon General without losing a shred of HP.
Much less anyone who dared to clash with the Skeleton Dragon General’s blade head-on at this level of power!
“This skeleton is a bit strange.”
Whoosh whoosh whoosh!
Assault Armor, Gale Step, Blood Frenzy, and Swift Slash had finished cooling down.
Jiang Cheng instantly activated them all as the Blood Hell Sword in his hand transformed into a crimson longbow. In the instant of his retreat, he fired off three arrows at subsonic speed.
“-117.”
“-213!”
“-121.”
The Skeleton Dragon General was struck in the heart, skull, and abdomen, three different damage values popping up.
“The skull is a weak point.”
Ten steps reached, Jiang Cheng’s footsteps paused. His cloak fluttered as he shot three more arrows, but this time a huge broadsword directly severed the arrows at the waist.
“-11.”
“-11.”
“-11.”
“-20.”
“-20.”
The three arrows only hit the Skeleton Dragon General’s broadsword, its head showing the tearing damage from Blood Hell.
Clang clang clang…
Suddenly, the sound of a weapon dragging on the ground came from below. Jiang Cheng’s heart stirred.
“It’s Dragging Sword Slash.”
A black light rose inversely from the ground, swiftly heading towards Jiang Cheng.
Left foot shifting, Jiang Cheng didn’t retreat but fiercely took three steps forward.
Then, under the stunned gazes of Natalie and the Skeleton Dragon General, the ten-meter-long broadsword failed to slash Jiang Cheng, instead cleaving into a broken pillar.
Boom!
The white pillar was struck by the broadsword’s immense force, exploding into countless fragments.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Three arrows pierced into the skull on the Skeleton Dragon General’s back, enraging it greatly.
It had actually missed just now?
And even took three arrows?
This damned blood Skeleton was making a fool of it?
This was a disgrace in its existence!
It decided, it must reclaim its dignity!
Just as it was about to use Shadow Strike, it suddenly felt its soul locked down, unable to move.
Then, its consciousness was instantly obliterated.
With a rumbling crash.
The hundred-meter frame collapsed into a pile of bones.
“Enough. To have such an intelligent and powerful skeleton protecting you shows your character is not bad. Consider this test passed.”
Natalie looked deeply at Jiang Cheng.
Then she said to Zhang Mengmeng, “Come with me. Your strength is too poor, you need some special training.”
“Ah…I…passed just like that?” Zhang Mengmeng was instantly dazed.
She…seemed to have done nothing at all.
“Skeleton Big Brother, I did it!” Zhang Mengmeng ran up to Jiang Cheng, excitedly grabbing his arm.
“Thank you, Skeleton Big Brother. I realized, you are truly the most precious treasure in my life. Thank you.”
Zhang Mengmeng’s voice was a bit agitated, eyes slightly red-rimmed, on the verge of hugging Jiang Cheng and bawling her eyes out.
Just before, she thought she had failed, instantly becoming dispirited.
Who would have thought with a single move from her Skeleton Big Brother, he would completely turn the tables and defeat the Skeleton Dragon General?
With such ups and downs, her emotions were a bit out of control.
Seeing this, Jiang Cheng didn’t know what to say. Anyway, Zhang Mengmeng couldn’t understand, so he just let her hold his hand and nodded.
“Let’s go, don’t waste time.” Natalie suddenly urged impatiently.
“Alright, Skeleton Big Brother, I’m off first. Don’t worry, no matter the difficulty, I’ll overcome it. I’ll definitely get stronger, I won’t drag you down.”
In front of Jiang Cheng, Zhang Mengmeng raised her cute little pink fist with determination. Then, extremely reluctantly, she let go of Jiang Cheng’s hand.
“Wait for me, Skeleton Big Brother.”
Jiang Cheng nodded.
Watching her follow behind Natalie, stopping every three steps to timidly glance back at him, Jiang Cheng felt slightly moved in his heart.
“Acting cute is shameful…”
Sighing, Jiang Cheng was about to go level up when he realized Natalie had somehow already arrived in front of him.
“A chat?”
“I’m in a hurry.” Jiang Cheng spread his hands, indicating he was very busy.
“I haven’t seen those battle techniques in a thousand years.” Natalie took out an ancient book, “If you can tell me what they are, I can gift you this tome.”
