If they launch another major operation, their supplies will be depleted. Thus, they turn to their influential members in the outside world to secure additional resources. Once they amass enough—or even surplus—resources, they plan to execute a grand operation to obliterate the Empire. For now, they will lie low.

Cid Kageno has reached adolescence and entered the Royal Midgar Academy's college division. The plot remains the same as the story progresses.

At this point in the narrative, Shadow has returned to this world from his previous one. Additionally, Beta, one of the Seven Shadows, has brought a living fossil—no, a person from Earth—to this world: Nishino Akane.

Akane struggles to believe she has been transported to another world, yet she does not resist it. Her motivation is to reunite with someone afflicted by an incurable disease—known as "Chuunibyou."

She yearns to meet him again and stay by his side, thus adding another member to his "harem"—or rather, another recruit to the Shadow Garden.

On the other hand, the Diabolos cult is finalizing preparations for a long-anticipated major operation. Their goal is to summon the strongest Demon Lord in this world, originating from the demon realm: Yggdrasil!

Demon Lord Yggdrasil is the most formidable known demon, destined to bring catastrophe to the world. Before summoning Yggdrasil, the cult plans to abduct the Roman Empire's Emperor and Empress's child. For two years, they have awaited this day.

The Day of Retribution is upon them.

Their operatives infiltrate the palace through treachery from an insider. Despite this advantage, they cannot move freely and must remain hidden. Confident in their success, they anticipate the Emperor's despair as his child is slain and his empire collapses under Yggdrasil's power.

Little do they know, even if they manage to abduct the Emperor's child, the infant is protected by powerful enchantments from both the Emperor and Empress. The child cannot be harmed unless faced with power greater than theirs.

The infiltrators reach the Emperor and Empress's private chamber and locate the infant in a crib. As they approach, protective wards activate, triggering alarms that echo throughout the palace.

In an instant, the Emperor and Empress arrive, swiftly eliminating the intruders. The door guards tremble in fear, knowing they failed to prevent the infiltration. Yet, the Emperor and Empress disregard them, focusing instead on their child.

Summoning their personal attendant, they entrust the infant to their care, instructing them to take the child to the most secure, secret chamber.

Meanwhile, the Emperor and Empress issue an announcement that shakes the world:
