Chapter 60: A Man’s Right Hand is Invincible
The enormous blood-red cross sword descended from the heavens like a divine judgment, carrying an unfathomable majesty. Its overwhelming presence dyed Seishuiin Ena's vision crimson.
" And now a thousand leaves breaking, the Iwaki of God, surpassing possible, I know name it, unfortunate nothingness."
At the critical moment, she recited the final segment of the spirit-possession incantation. The divine power of the Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi surged, and at the last possible second, she raised it in defense.
"BOOM————————"
A deafening explosion echoed. Seishuuiin Ena felt an overwhelming force assault her arms. Her body buckled, and she fell to one knee. The dark blue stockings of her school uniform were torn, exposing her round, pale calves, and her knees were scraped and bloodied against the ground.
However, compared to these external injuries, her internal damage was far worse. Blood trickled from her mouth and nose, and bright red streaks ran down the corners of her lips. The divine energy supporting her body suddenly dissipated, leaving her drained and powerless.
The residual force of the massive blood-red sword did not stop. It continued beyond Ena, slicing cleanly through the traditional two-story Japanese houses behind her, leaving a deep, jagged scar in the heart of the Tokyo alleyway.
"BOOM BOOM BOOM——————"
Smoke and dust billowed into the air as buildings collapsed. With a single swing of the sword, the entire block was reduced to rubble.
"Clack—clack—clack—"
Clear, deliberate footsteps echoed from the front. The girls looked up and saw a boy, no older than themselves, stepping out of the smoke.
The red cardinal's robe he wore was tattered from his battle with Marquis Voban. Roy's exposed skin bore crisscrossing scars and streaks of blood, evidence of the fierce confrontation with the ancient demon king. Although Roy's injuries were not light, they were superficial and did not hinder his movements.
What caught the most attention, however, was the massive golden hand extending from Roy's right shoulder. The giant hand gripped a blood-red cross sword, the very weapon that had unleashed the devastating strike moments ago.
Roy's Holy Right possessed the ability to enhance other authorities, though this ability was rarely utilized due to the seven-day cooldown between uses. Now, after defeating Marquis Voban with the Light of the Right Hand this third hand was demonstrating its latent capabilities.
Using the "third hand," Roy controlled the Sword of Judgment. With enough divine power (magical energy), the sword could grow to lengths of over a kilometer, capable of splitting mountains with a single swing. But after his battle with Marquis Voban, Roy's magical reserves were limited. Against Seishuiin Ena, a mere girl, there was no need to expend much energy to overpower her.
"Campione! Godslayer…"
Seishuiin Ena knelt on the ground, panting heavily. Blood flowed from a gash on her forehead, blinding one eye. This was the power of a Campione. Even at his weakest, with his divine power nearly depleted, Roy needed only the slightest effort to dispatch a powerful miko wielding a divine weapon.
"Campione…"
Mariya Yuri's teeth chattered as she looked at Roy, her face a mixture of terror, loathing, and awe. Her legs felt like lead, and she could barely move. She sensed the same aura from Roy as she had from Marquis Voban—cruel, tyrannical, merciless, and overwhelmingly powerful.
"'King!'"
Erica and Liliana's faces lit up with joy at Roy's arrival.
"Please forgive me, Your Majesty. Erica cannot properly welcome you in her current state. And please pardon both me and Lili for our failure. We couldn't even handle such a minor task and had to rely on you to intervene personally."
Erica struggled to stand, her face filled with guilt as she lowered her head.
Liliana quickly ran over to support Erica, while Seishuiin Ena, now drained of all strength, could no longer stop her.
"If you must punish someone, punish me! This is all my fault. Erica has already given her all. Please do not blame her!"
Liliana held Erica's battered body as it swayed unsteadily. She too bowed her head in apology.
Roy's gaze fell on Erica. Once a radiant and proud girl, she now looked utterly pitiful. Her shining golden hair was disheveled, and several of the cuts on her body were so deep that the bone was visible. Despite these near-fatal injuries, the fourteen-year-old did not cry out in pain. Instead, she held on through sheer willpower.
Even Roy couldn't find it in him to reprimand her harshly.
He said in a gentle tone: "...To have achieved this much in the face of Marquis Voban's authority, Erica, you have done remarkably well. This accomplishment alone would be enough to rival the bravery your uncle showed when he faced divine beasts. I will not blame you for your failure, but instead praise your courage.
"...However, it is also a fact that you and Liliana failed in your mission. I am a person who clearly distinguishes between reward and punishment. Once your body recovers, I will address your punishment."
When he mentioned punishment, Roy's gaze carried a peculiar glint, and there was a hint of ambiguity in his tone.
"I am willing to accept any punishment from you, Your Majesty!"
Erica didn't notice Roy's strange expression, but she could tell from his tone that he didn't hold their failure against them. This made her breathe a sigh of relief.
"That hand...what on earth is that?"
Seishuiin Ena's gaze was locked onto the strange hand on Roy's right shoulder. When her eyes fell upon it, an inexplicable chill ran through her, as though she were staring at something incomprehensibly alien. Even her mind seemed to teeter on the edge of collapse.
"What is this hand? This hand is a 'miracle' capable of erasing humanity with a mere wave!"
Roy said this with an air of calmness.
"You must be joking!"
Hearing Roy's explanation, Seishuiin Ena and the immobile Mariya Yuri turned pale. Even Erica and Liliana, as experienced knights, looked uncertain. They had never encountered this "miraculous hand" of Roy's before.
"What's so impossible about it? Don't underestimate a man's right hand. Even an ordinary man, with a single swing, could eliminate hundreds of millions of lives."
Roy's words were delivered with a serious expression, though the content was anything but.
The four girls froze for a moment, but given the quality of sex education in both Japan and Italy, they quickly grasped the deeper meaning behind his words.
Liliana's face turned crimson, and she stammered, " My King, please...please be mindful of the situation. This is a battlefield. Jokes like that are...are entirely inappropriate!"
Though Liliana had lived in Italy for some time, she retained her Eastern European roots, which made her less accustomed to the warmth and candor of Italians. Erica, on the other hand, remained calm, though the joke brought back Roy's earlier mention of "punishment." For reasons she couldn't quite explain, this made her heart race.
Roy fell silent, warning himself to refrain from such remarks in the future. He didn't want to follow in the footsteps of his father, Aleister, and become a lecherous old man fond of inappropriate jokes.
His expression then turned serious, and the Eye of Sodom activated. His power manifested in the form of a mystical gaze directed at Seishuiin Ena.
The injured girl's expression changed drastically. The Kusanagi sword in her hand responded instinctively to protect its wielder, channeling its energy to shield her from Roy's gaze.
"Pffft—"
Suddenly, a blade of light pierced through Seishuiin Ena's back. She felt a sharp pain in her abdomen and coughed up blood. The Kusanagi sword slipped from her grasp, clattering to the ground. Staring at the blade protruding from her stomach, she muttered in disbelief,
"...Where did this sword come from..."
Before she could finish, a chill swept across her neck. Two more swords of light appeared, hovering by her throat. At some point, more than a dozen angels had materialized around Seishuiin Ena.
Each angel wielded weapons aimed directly at her. The slightest movement would prompt the blades to strike, severing her head from her body.
Each of these angels possessed the power of a great knight. In this world, a great knight was already considered among the highest combat strengths of magicians. Yet Roy could summon hundreds of angels with ease—this was the overwhelming power of a Campione.
The fallen Kusanagi sword seemed to possess its own will. Sensing danger, it bounced up from the ground and attempted to open the gate to the Netherworld to escape.
But just as it moved, the Holy Right on Roy's shoulder stretched out. The blood-red cross sword it had been holding vanished, and the "third hand" extended like a length of rubber, reaching dozens of meters to snatch the Kusanagi sword.
"Trying to run? There's no such thing as an easy escape!"
Roy focused his intent, and the Holy Right gripped the divine blade tightly. A horrible creaking sound of twisting metal rang out. Under the terrible pressure, the legendary artifact of Japanese mythology was crushed into fragments by Roy's "third hand."
