A Certain Multiverse's Holy Right

Chapter 71: Solomon, I Wish You Were a Woman

Roy needed a spell that was uniquely his, akin to how every powerful magician in the A Certain Magical Index world had a technique of their own, such as Aleister Crowley's Spiritual Tripping, a technique capable of theoretically unleashing ten times the power of the Big Bang when used against a Magic God.

Roy's Holy Right ability originated from his comprehension of the biblical portions of the Book 777. To some extent, this "right hand" was an innate power of Roy's rather than a learned spell. While powerful, Roy had a subtle sense that this right hand had inherent limitations.

If innate abilities have limits, Roy's goal was clear: he needed to develop an acquired method to compensate for and break through those limits. The Holy Right symbolized the power of the Old Testament's Book of Genesis. Roy realized he also needed to complete the power of the New Testament's Book of Revelation. Only when these two forces merged could they form the complete "Power of Christianity."

The Book of Revelation delves into apocalyptic knowledge, particularly about the "beast". Roy's current task was to create a spell capable of encompassing the concept of all "beasts," which symbolize humanity's inherent evil, and then transcend it. This would allow him to connect Revelation and Genesis, completing the biblical duality.

However, creating such a spell—one that unites all manifestations of the "beast" and transcends them—was a task of almost impossible magnitude. Even someone like Aiwass likely couldn't design such a technique.

This technique was meant to be Roy's personal and unique spell. It was a task that could not be delegated to anyone else, as it required his individual understanding and knowledge for completion.

Roy tasked Solomon with constructing only the foundational elements of the spell—a rough framework. The comprehensive structure of the spell would still require Roy to build upon it himself as his knowledge grew. Even so, this magical framework had already pushed Solomon's wisdom to its limits, highlighting both the immense distance to its completion and the unparalleled strength it would possess when finished.

In a Jerusalem hotel room, Roy and Solomon engaged in fervent discussion. To call it a discussion was generous; in reality, it was Roy seeking guidance.

Solomon, self-proclaimed "King of Magic" (or otherwise known as King of Magecraft in Nasuverse), had not been boasting. His depth of knowledge in magic was staggering. Roy gained invaluable insights from their conversations and wished he could keep Solomon focused entirely on building the magic foundation and teaching him day and night, allowing Roy to eagerly absorb knowledge.

The wise king was an exceptional teacher, though this ability stemmed from his God's Wisdom rather than any human wisdom. Unlike Aiwass, who would provide Roy with a complex "math problem" and its solution, leaving him to figure out the details on his own, Solomon meticulously explained every step of his thought process, making his teachings incredibly accessible.

"Hah… It's already nine o'clock. Let's wrap up today's discussion. You're officially off the clock, King Solomon."

Roy was jolted from his thoughts by the alarm on his phone. He exhaled deeply and reluctantly concluded the session with Solomon.

When he imposed a "996" work schedule on Solomon, he meant it. Roy wouldn't allow Solomon to slack off for even a minute but was equally adamant about not making him work overtime.

Solomon's magical knowledge, drawn from the Nasuverse, was vastly different from the magical principles of the Campione world. Magic (also called Magecraft and separate from True Magic) in Nasuverse was more akin to conceptual research, a systematic exploration of metaphysical ideas. In contrast, the Campione world's magic was highly practical, designed primarily for combat. This distinction was evident in how most powerful magicians in the Campione world were also knights, underscoring the emphasis on martial prowess.

The knowledge Aiwass imparted belonged to the A Certain Magical Index world. Roy was now undertaking the monumental task of integrating these disparate magical systems—Nasuverse, Index, and Campione—into a unified framework. His ultimate goal was to create a personalized magic system and unique spell, all while grounding his work in the theological principles of the Bible and the Book of 777, ensuring his techniques aligned with "Christian doctrine."

"The ocean of knowledge is so vast, and every world has its own unique brilliance. Even in weaker worlds, there are bound to be irreplaceable gems of wisdom. This makes me look forward to future journeys, exploring different worlds to gather the knowledge I need, and transforming it into 'my technique.'"

Roy sighed as he stretched his arms, shaking his head to dispel the fatigue. Studying with Solomon for ten consecutive hours had left his mind somewhat drained.

"If I'd worked this hard in school, I'd probably have a PhD by now..."

He laughed at himself, mocking his younger self for being unmotivated. He realized now how true it was that "learning" was the most important tool for human progress. It really could change lives.

Roy's gaze shifted toward Solomon with a complicated expression as he sighed, "...If only you were a girl. Like how King Arthur and the tyrant Nero turned out to be women. If you were a girl, I could learn everything I needed in a much faster and more... pleasant way." (T/N: ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°))

As he said this, Roy's eyes flicked briefly behind Solomon.

Noticing the glance, Solomon shifted slightly in his chair, ensuring his back was perfectly upright at a 90-degree angle to the seat before responding with a serious tone: "...The sins of Sodom and Gomorrah are grievous, and Yahweh has heard of them. Yahweh will send two angels to destroy these cities." (T/N: lmao)

Quoting this passage from Genesis, Solomon seemed to be reminding Roy, through the use of scripture, of the dangers in his line of thinking.

Sodom and Gomorrah were infamous cities, notorious for their open acceptance of forbidden acts, including homosexuality, which led to God's wrath. Michael and Gabriel were sent to destroy them as punishment.

"Relax. I have no interest in men," Roy said dismissively. "Besides, I prefer fair-skinned women. Bronze-toned individuals like you don't catch my eye. The Queen of Sheba probably had a complexion like yours, right? It seems our tastes are vastly different. That's a relief—at least we won't fight over women." (T/N: I see, then Aisha won't be in the harem if he is speaking the truth)

Solomon managed an awkward smile. "...Ah, truthfully, I'm terrible at dealing with women and have no luck with them."

"Ha! The King Solomon who married an Egyptian princess, had a thousand concubines, and counted queens of foreign nations among his lovers, says he has no luck with women or doesn't know how to handle them? Are you kidding?

"...Actually, I really want to learn your secret. How did you manage to keep such a massive harem in harmony? Was it some sort of magic trick?"

Roy chuckled at the idea.

Solomon's face flushed. He hesitated before blurting out, "...Those things were done by 'Solomon.' What does that have to do with me, Romani Archaman?"

"Romani Archaman?"

Roy blinked, processing the new name, before musing thoughtfully, "...So you've given your 'human' self a new name. 'Aki' references the Ark of the Covenant or Noah's Ark, and adding 'Man' implies 'the one who holds the Ark.' I thought you might pick a name with no connection to the past, but in the end, you couldn't help but draw from the Bible."

"So, Mr. Romani..."

"Just call me Roman."

King Solomon—no, Roman—interrupted Roy with a smile and said, "...Call me Roman. I like that name."

"Roman? You've truly converted under my influence. That term aligns with Catholicism. Perhaps I'm better suited to being a missionary. Getting King Solomon of the Old Testament to abandon Judaism and embrace Christianity is a miracle unlike any in history."

Roy joked, but then his expression turned serious as he clasped Roman's hand. "...Dr. Roman, over the next few days, I'll continue to ask for your help with magic. Please don't hold back on me."

Roman let out a bitter laugh and said, "...The term 'Roman' I used actually means 'romantic.' I was referring to a newly-learned Japanese word, not the English one."

At that moment, a knock came from the door. Erica's voice followed: "...Your Majesty, have you finished studying for today? I've brought a late-night snack for you, and, oh yes, the cake King Solomon requested."

Before Roy could respond, Roman darted toward the door like a startled rabbit and flung it open.
