As if sensing his uncertainty, Minerva added. "I think you will like it, and I must admit I am most curious to see if you have your father's talent. Come along," she ordered and Harry followed her outside and into a beautifully maintained garden pondering her comment about his father. She walked around to a small shed tucked away against the back of the house, and opened the door with a flourish. Harry's jaw dropped as he noted several brooms inside the room.
"Your father, James Potter, was one of the better flyers I have ever seen, and as I told you, played Chaser on his house Quidditch team. You will have lessons on how to fly a broom as a first year, but I wanted to give you the opportunity to learn now if you like." Harry kept looking back and forth between Minerva and the brooms. He remembered her stories about his dad and flying, and he had read about quidditch in a book called "Quidditch Through the Ages" that Septima had on her shelves.
"Do you really think I can fly?"
"Of course, you can fly," she assured him. "Everyone learns how to fly in their first year. Some people take to it more than others. Your grandfather was a talented flyer as well, and also played on his house team in his day. I would hazard a guess that you have inherited the Potter family talent for it, but there is only one way to know for sure." With that, she stepped forward and selected a good starter broom from the shed before closing the door. Harry followed her every move as she walked with the broom away from the house, and then calmly placed it on the ground.
"Shall we start?"
"Yes, please," Harry replied both excited and nervous. He really wanted to be good at something his father had been good at. "Was Sirius a good flyer as well? Or my mum?"
