A Hurried Marriage With A Child On The Way Leads To A Young Girl Instantly Becoming Mr.Gu’s Beloved

Chapter 6 - Why Are You Crying?

“Getting the marriage certificate?” Su Shu was stunned.

“Or do you want our child to be born without a proper status?” Gu Beiting countered calmly.

Su Shu shook her head frantically, like a rattle drum.

“Once we get the certificate, you’ll move in with me. It’ll make it easier for me to take care of you.”

Hearing this, Su Shu thought about her current situation—pregnant and still living at her uncle’s house. It was far from ideal.

Hadn’t she been thinking about moving out sooner rather than later?

Since she was keeping the baby, and he was willing to take responsibility by marrying her, why not go through with it?

Mr. Gu seemed like a decent person. Maybe they could live harmoniously together, treating each other with respect.

After a moment of contemplation, Su Shu nodded. “Alright. I agree.”

The next day.

Su Shu returned to the Su household.

At that time, only her cousin, Su Wan, was at home.

The moment Su Wan saw her, she sneered, “Didn’t come home last night? Were you off renting a room somewhere?”

Su Shu didn’t respond, heading straight to pack her things.

Seeing that she was being ignored, Su Wan pressed on, “Shouldn’t you be at work right now? Why are you back here?”

“I’m not going to work anymore,” Su Shu replied flatly.

“Not going to work?” Su Wan jumped off the couch, chasing after her. “If you don’t go to work, where’s my study abroad tuition going to come from? The registration deadline is coming up!”

Su Shu’s expression remained blank as she responded, “That’s your problem, not mine.”

“How is it not your problem?” Su Wan screeched, her voice rising. “You’re living in my house, so you better be contributing! You think you can freeload here?”

“My mother left living expenses with Uncle before she passed away. I’ll be taking back whatever hasn’t been used.” Su Shu, no longer meek and submissive, stared Su Wan down, her words deliberate and firm.

Su Wan was caught off guard by Su Shu’s defiance. After a brief moment of stunned silence, she spat out, “You’re dreaming! Your money’s long gone!”

“That’s not for you to decide,” Su Shu retorted, unfazed. “I’ll talk to Uncle about it.”

With that, she walked into her tiny five-square-meter bedroom and locked the door.

Inside, she found her household registration book and carefully tucked it into her coat pocket.

Outside, Su Wan banged furiously on the door, demanding to be let in.

Ignoring her, Su Shu finished packing her luggage and opened the door.

Su Wan’s eyes immediately scanned her, lingering on the suitcase in her hand.

“Are you really going to summer camp? Where’d you get the money?” Su Wan’s tone was sharp, filled with suspicion. “You must’ve stolen it!”

“I didn’t steal anything,” Su Shu replied.

Su Wan lunged forward, grabbing the handle of Su Shu’s suitcase and yanking it hard. “I want to check!”

Su Shu pulled the suitcase back, her voice calm but resolute. “These are my things. You have no right to check them.”

“This is my house! The suitcase is mine!” Su Wan shot back, tightening her grip and pulling with even more force.

Su Shu, worried about the baby and not wanting to risk any harm from the struggle, suddenly let go.

With a loud thud, Su Wan lost her balance and crashed onto the floor.

She let out a howl of pain.

Su Shu, afraid that Su Wan might retaliate in a fit of rage, quickly grabbed her suitcase and bolted.

Just as she reached the front door, she ran into Chen Hong, her aunt, who was returning home.

Chen Hong’s brows furrowed the moment she saw her. “Why are you back? Shouldn’t you be at work?”

Su Shu tightened her grip on the suitcase handle and said quietly, “I… I’m leaving.”

“Wait a moment!” Chen Hong’s eyes narrowed suspiciously, and with a swift movement, she grabbed the suitcase from Su Shu’s hands.

Placing the suitcase on the ground, she unzipped it and began rummaging through it.

The suitcase contained nothing but clothes, including some undergarments.

Unfazed by the neighbors watching from nearby, Chen Hong tossed the underwear and bras onto the ground, searching for anything of value. Finding no cash or valuables, she straightened up, brushing off her hands.

“Fine. Go live at the hotel then. It’s closer to your job anyway,” she said dismissively.

Su Shu hurriedly gathered her scattered belongings, zipping the suitcase back up.

She sniffed, fighting back the tears threatening to spill. There was no point in arguing now, not when it might escalate and harm the baby.

She would leave this place for now. She could settle the score later.

With this in mind, Su Shu grabbed her suitcase and quickly left.

As she reached the gate of the residential area, she spotted a luxury car parked nearby—a sleek, elegant black SUV.

The window rolled down, revealing an impossibly handsome face.

It was Gu Beiting.

In an instant, he noticed the redness in her eyes.

Without hesitation, Gu Beiting undid his seatbelt and stepped out of the car.

He took her suitcase from her hand, his dark eyes locking onto hers once more.

She had been crying.

That much was clear to him.

After placing her luggage in the trunk, he walked over to the passenger side and opened the door for her.

Once Su Shu was seated, he gently closed the door behind her.

He didn’t start the car right away. Instead, he turned toward her and asked, “Why were you crying?”

Su Shu forced a smile, one that barely masked the pain behind it. “I wasn’t crying.”

A lie.

Gu Beiting’s displeasure was evident as he reached out, his long fingers lightly brushing against her eyelashes.

The sudden closeness startled Su Shu, and she instinctively leaned back, her neck craning away.

On his thumb, there was a single, shimmering tear.

He held it up in front of her, letting it glisten in the light, his expression unreadable.

“And what’s this, if not tears?”
