A Hurried Marriage With A Child On The Way Leads To A Young Girl Instantly Becoming Mr.Gu’s Beloved

Chapter 8 - Gentle and Obedient

The room had been tidied, yet Aunt Zhou had been careful not to touch Su Shu’s luggage without permission.

Gu Beiting led her upstairs and, upon entering the room, said, “The decor here is rather simple. If you prefer a different style, you can let Aunt Zhou know.”

Su Shu found his thoughtfulness heartwarming and gratefully responded, “This is already perfect!”

The room was spacious and bright, far better than the one she had at her uncle’s house.

Gu Beiting handed her his phone number, saying, “If you need anything, just call me. I’ll be stepping out for a while but will return as soon as I can.”

Su Shu quickly nodded. “Mr. Gu, I won’t wander around, and I’ll take good care of the baby.”

Gu Beiting felt a warmth in his chest at her words.

Such an obedient and endearing girl, he thought to himself.

Once Gu Beiting left, Su Shu unpacked her luggage, taking out her belongings one by one.

Aunt Zhou knocked gently on the door.

“Please come in,” Su Shu said politely.

Aunt Zhou entered with a warm smile and kindly said, “Young Madam, it’s best not to squat down too much while you’re pregnant. Let me do it.”

Su Shu quickly agreed, rising before discreetly grabbing her underwear and hiding it behind her back, embarrassed.

Aunt Zhou smiled kindly. “Young Madam, your underwear will still fit for now since it’s early in the pregnancy. But after three months, you’ll need to switch to maternity bras and underwear.”

Su Shu, having little knowledge of pregnancy, listened attentively. Far from finding Aunt Zhou’s words tedious, she felt incredibly fortunate.

The more she learned, the better she could care for the baby.

Aunt Zhou, naturally a talkative person, was delighted to see that Su Shu not only wasn’t annoyed but was deeply engaged in what she was saying.

Feeling more at ease, Aunt Zhou affectionately added, “Young Madam, remember not to tiptoe while hanging clothes; it could stretch your belly. Don’t hesitate to call me if you need anything—I’ll be here in a flash!”

Gratefully, Su Shu replied, “Thank you, Aunt Zhou.”

“Now, you should take a rest. I’ll go prepare lunch for you,” Aunt Zhou said, closing the door gently behind her.

Lying in bed, Su Shu unconsciously placed her hand on her belly.

The events of the past few days felt like a dream.

After discovering she was pregnant, she unexpectedly met the baby’s father.

She had gone in for an abortion, yet ended up getting a marriage certificate instead!

After sitting for a while, fatigue from pregnancy hormones overtook her, and she drifted off to sleep.

When she awoke, half an hour had passed.

She tied her hair back and headed downstairs.

As she entered the living room, she overheard a conversation coming from the kitchen.

Aunt Zhou was speaking cheerfully, “Our Young Madam has such a gentle and sweet temperament! The eldest young master, with his tough personality, really needed someone like her—soft and docile. No matter how hard-headed he is, he’ll turn into a man completely under her sway.”

Old Zhao grunted in agreement, continuing with his tasks.

Aunt Zhou continued, “The eldest young master is like an iron tree, finally blossoming! If the family at the old house finds out about the great-grandson, they’ll be overjoyed.”

Old Zhao made another sound of acknowledgment, though his hands remained busy.

“But speaking of the old house, why do you think the eldest young master hasn’t shared such joyous news with them? Could it be that the marriage is still… a secret?” Aunt Zhou asked curiously.

Su Shu stood still, momentarily stunned.

Mr. Gu hadn’t told his family about their marriage?

But after a moment of reflection, she could understand why.

After all, they had married because of the pregnancy. Perhaps Mr. Gu had his reasons for keeping it quiet.

Just as Old Zhao was about to answer, the sound of footsteps in the living room caught his attention, and he hurried out.

“Young Madam, are you hungry?” Old Zhao smiled warmly. “Lunch will be ready in ten minutes! Let me get you some minced meat porridge to tide you over.”

Su Shu shook her head, “I’m not hungry, just a bit bored.”

She had initially thought of scrolling through social media or playing some games like she used to, but Aunt Zhou had mentioned earlier that pregnant women should limit their exposure to electronic devices due to radiation concerns.

Upon hearing she was bored, Old Zhao suggested, “The eldest young master’s study is filled with books. Would you like to go up and see if there’s anything you’d like to read?”

Su Shu followed Old Zhao back upstairs.

When the door to the study opened, Su Shu’s eyes widened in amazement.

The room looked like a miniature library! Each bookshelf was meticulously organized and labeled like those in a real library.

In front of the large floor-to-ceiling window was a huge desk, upon which sat both a desktop computer and a laptop.

Mr. Gu really has a passion for learning, she thought.

Most of the books were about finance or biographies of famous people.

Softly, she asked, “Are there any books on childcare?”

“I’ve already instructed the assistant to purchase some. They’ll arrive tomorrow,” a deep, magnetic voice replied.

Su Shu turned around immediately after hearing that magnetic voice.

It’s Gu Beiting!
