Chapter 9: FairyTale but just Al's tale
After they finish their lesson for.... today? Little Lu stretch up and begin to walk like always into the Whiteness Land. Al as well starts to float from the white ground and hovered beside Little Lu, his thick, ancient pages rustling like a thoughtful sigh. Again, every after new lesson she will always walk and walk without any reason.... haihh....
The white, endless world stretched around them, unchanged showing no signs of them actually walk around or not. No sky, no land, just pure, blinding white. Yet within this world, Little Lu had grown. Al had witnessed it—her strides becoming more purposeful, her words transforming into coherent sentences, and even her curiosity blooming into something remarkable.
Still, one question lingered in Al's mind. It was something he couldn't quite grasp, something that gnawed at his logical core. "Little Lu," he began, his tone both curious and cautious. "Why do you still walk forward when you know full well nothing else are out there? You have me now. Isn't that enough?" Little Lu stopped mid-step, turning her head to look at Al. Her greyish-blue eyes, large and filled with a sparkle of mischief, narrowed slightly. She put her hands on her hips and tilted her head, as if pondering something deeply. Then, with a grin that spread across her face like sunlight breaking through clouds, she said, "Why do you ask? Oh! Oh!" She giggles slightly and, "Aww, so you like being with me, Al? You don't want me to move forward but stay with you?"
Al fluttered backward, his pages flapping in a frantic rustle. "Wha… I didn't mean it like that!" he exclaimed, his tone unusually high-pitched. "I… I merely meant…" He paused, realizing he was stumbling over his words. "I meant it's inefficient to wander without purpose, that's all!" Almanac seems to be huff and puff even being an encyclopedia of feelings. For book's sake! I'm a book not a humanly being! Little Lu giggled, the sound ringing like a melody in the otherwise silent world. "You're funny and adowobel when you're flustered, Al."
"I am not flustered, and it's A-do-ra- ble!" Al huffed, floating a little higher as if to regain his dignity. His pages settled, and he cleared his metaphorical throat. "In any case, wandering aimlessly doesn't seem logical. Perhaps you need a new perspective."
Lu raised an eyebrow. "A new perspective?" Lu question him. "Yes," Al said, his voice more composed now. "Like....Like... Yeah! Fairytales! Yeah, sometimes, stories help us see things differently. Allow me to tell you a fairytale."
Lu's eyes lit up with excitement. "Ooh, a fairytale? Yes, yes! Tell me, Al!" Al hesitated for a moment. Despite being a grand book of knowledge, storytelling wasn't exactly his forte. "But wait.... What is fairy tale?" Ask Little Lu as she tilted her head in curiosity. Al paused and try to explain it to her, "Well, fairy tale has a lot of meaning, a common one means children's story about magical and imaginary beings. But on another meaning almost the same is a fabricated story, especially one intended to deceive to have a plot twist or story that brings happiness or intended sadness. And there's also a fairy tale about folklore of human myths and legends where these stories have features like magic, enchantments, and mythical or fanciful be-" Little Lu immediately cut him short. "Stop shtop! Too much information too much information! TMI TMI!"
"Huh? You know that there's no such thing as too much information when it means you get more knowledge?" he was determined to try. "Alright, here goes," he said, opening his pages to a blank section. "Once upon a time, there was… a… a kingdom. Yes, a kingdom. And in this kingdom lived a… princess?" Lu's head tilted. "A princess? What's she like?" Al paused, his pages flipping rapidly as if searching for inspiration. "She was… kind and… beautiful? And she… loved… animals?" His voice faltered as he realized how generic his tale sounded. Lu tried to stifle a laugh but failed. "Just asking but are you telling me a fairytale right now? Haha, Al, you're terrible at this!" Al puffed up slightly, his pages fluttering indignantly. "I beg your pardon! I am a repository of infinite knowledge, not a… a bard!"
"Alright, alright," Lu said, still chuckling. "But why is a fairytale a fairytale? What makes it special?" Al stilled, his pages settling into a thoughtful silence. He hadn't expected such a profound question. After a moment, he said, "A fairytale… is a story that speaks to the heart. It's not about facts or logic but about dreams and lessons. It's a way to understand the world, even when the world doesn't make sense." Lu's eyes widened. "Oh… That's beautiful, Al. But why use the simple description like pretty, beautiful? Why not describe more like how her eyes shape or mouth shape something like that?" She sat down on the soft white ground, her legs crossed and her hands resting on her knees. Al look at her with a disapproving huff, "Didn't you just say that TMI! TMI! Shtooop~ Too much information~~", Al sounds like mocking. Lu chuckles, "Alright, sorry about that, just tell me more. Please continue. "Encouraged by her interest, Al continued, his voice softer now. "Fairytales often have heroes who face challenges, villains who embody fears, and endings that teach us something. They're a reflection of our hopes and struggles, a mirror of our humanity."
Lu nodded slowly, her expression thoughtful. "So, if I'm wandering and learning, does that make me a fairytale?" Al blinked, metaphorically speaking. "You… could be," he said after a moment. "Well by definite, your story might be hmm well weird or bizarre but it is certainly unusual, and you are… unique."
Lu grinned. "Then you're part of my fairytale too, Al. You're the wise mentor character."
Al's pages fluttered again, this time in a gesture of modesty. "I'm merely a guide," he said. "The story is yours, Little Lu."
Lu stood up, brushing imaginary dust off her legs. "Then let's keep walking," she said. "Who knows what else we'll find? Maybe another fairytale waiting to happen."
Al floated beside her, his pages turning slowly as he pondered her words. Despite the endless white expanse around them, he felt something shift. Perhaps it wasn't the world that was changing, but them. Together, they moved forward, their steps echoing softly in the void, carrying with them the promise of new discoveries and stories yet to be told.
To be continue...
