Abnormality In Type-Moon: Madness Of Animeverse

Chapter 100: Chapter 100: King of Heroes

As the blinding radiance gradually faded, the battlefield came into view. The once towering hills were riddled with deep craters, the acrid stench of charred earth filling the air. Scattered debris and sand littered the ground, while a long, narrow trench stretched from their feet to the far end of the hill, cutting through the landscape like a scar.

Aside from the devastation, there was nothing left.

The figure of the Blackened King Arthur had vanished entirely into the void of light. Where the Infinite Radiance passed, everything was forcibly expelled from existence.

"Incredible…"

Jeanne stared in awe at the deep trench. It wasn't just the depth—it was unnaturally smooth, as though even the smallest fragments of debris had been obliterated. Not even dust remained. Her voice trembled with reverence for the sheer destructive force that had unfolded before her.

The essence of Infinite Radiance was pure expulsion, erasing everything from the present world.

While its classification as a beam of light might seem inferior to the Reversed Holy Sword, the situation had worked in their favor. With Roy's magical support, bolstered further by the triple use of his Command Seals, the Demonic Commander Souji had unleashed a strike far beyond her usual limits. This overwhelming power had finally brought down the Blackened King Arthur, securing victory.

Roy let out a sigh of relief.

Thankfully, he had decisively ordered Souji's transformation. Had they delayed even a fraction of a second longer, they would have been reduced to ashes by the enemy's Noble Phantasm.

"Facing an opponent as absurdly overpowered as her with a second-rate Servant is beyond reckless," he muttered.

It was a miracle they had triumphed at all. Roy knew that his capabilities as a mage were limited, and to take down a foe of this caliber with just a few mid-tier Servants was nothing short of a miracle.

He glanced over his shoulder.

Behind him, the ruined remains of the association's fortress smoldered. The castle, already battered from his earlier clash with Souji, had been utterly annihilated by the Reversed Holy Sword's rampage.

There was no way any mage inside could have survived such destruction. Not even an extraordinary figure like Aozaki Aoko could have walked away unscathed. The council of elders from the Mage's Association hadn't even had the chance to see Roy's face before they were obliterated by the Blackened King Arthur's reckless attack.

In a grim twist of irony, Roy and Souji had killed far fewer people than their supposed enemy had.

"All that's left is…"

Roy turned his gaze to another part of the battlefield.

There, amidst the scorched earth, an elderly man wrapped in bandages and armor struggled to his feet. His face darkened with anger as he took in the scene before him.

Miraculously, Chiemon Dairenji had survived, narrowly avoiding annihilation.

"Are you part cockroach or something?" Roy sneered, stepping forward to confront the old man.

Behind them, the smoldering ruins of the castle cast flickering shadows, the crackle of flames punctuating the tension. One man stood tall, his gaze sharp and malicious. The other knelt, seething with fury.

The scene mirrored their encounter three years prior.

"But this time," Roy growled, "you won't crawl away to hide in the shadows."

His Spiral Mystic Eyes swirled ominously, locking onto Chiemon with a laser-sharp focus. This time, there would be no escape. No trickery, no Command Seals.

Jeanne, witnessing this, opened her mouth as if to speak, but the weight of their history silenced her. She lowered her gaze, unable to intervene. The old man had brought this upon himself.

However—

"Are you truly so eager to end his life?"

A voice, unfamiliar and dripping with authority, cut through the scene like a blade.

It appeared without warning, leaving the group stunned.

The Demonic Commander Souji immediately moved to shield Roy, her eyes narrowing as she scanned the area. Jeanne, sensing the same presence, tensed. The pressure emanating from the figure was suffocating, like standing before an unfathomable abyss.

Standing atop the last intact lamppost, a regal figure emerged, his golden armor gleaming under the moonlight. His presence was overwhelming, his crimson serpent-like eyes gazing down at them with an air of utter disdain.

A king had arrived.

"It's… him…" Jeanne whispered, her voice trembling with recognition.

Both Jeanne and Souji instinctively readied their weapons. The oppressive aura radiating from the golden-clad Servant was leagues beyond even the Blackened King Arthur.

This was no ordinary opponent. This was Gilgamesh, the King of Heroes.

"...The Heroic Spirit King," Roy muttered, his expression darkening.

Could this day get any worse?

"To what do we owe the honor of your presence?" Roy asked with a heavy sigh, already dreading the answer.

"Oh? You recognize me?"

Gilgamesh's lips curled into a haughty smirk as he lowered his gaze to meet Roy's. His crimson eyes glinted with amusement.

"In that case, I'll pardon your impudence for daring to address me directly," he said, his tone laced with mockery. "You may thank my magnanimity. After all, my mood is splendid tonight, so I'll humor you with an answer."

The King of Heroes swept his arm grandly, as if addressing an audience at the theater.

"I came because I detected an intriguing battle, nothing more. Think of it as a king gracing a circus performance with his presence. You may consider my praise as the highest honor, for even the most ordinary beasts can occasionally perform admirably."

Arrogance dripped from every word, each syllable a deliberate affront.

Roy's lips twitched in irritation. "And this so-called 'circus' performance… is it over?"

Gilgamesh ignored the sarcasm, leaning forward slightly with a smirk that could only be described as regal condescension.

"As for that man you're so eager to kill," he said, gesturing dismissively at Chiemon, "you misunderstand. A magus like him is no better than a worm to me. I care nothing for his life or death. However…"

The King of Heroes' blood-red eyes locked onto Roy's, and his smirk grew sharper.

"…he still has his uses."

"Uses? Him?" Roy scoffed, looking at Chiemon with open disdain.

Gilgamesh didn't even glance at the old man, his attention fixed solely on Roy.

"Now, homunculus," he began, his voice lowering into a dangerous tone. "Tell me, what is your wish for the Holy Grail?"
