Chapter 55 - Taking Snake Home I
Wan Zhong scrubbed the blood stains on the cliff hard, but they couldn’t be wiped off, so he used the ax to directly dig away the patch of ground.
He had no intention of covering up what he had done; he just didn’t want to make the place too dirty.
The snake blood in the bowl could not solidify for a long time, and the red bead the size of a thumb floated in it, emitting a strange faint light.
Wan Zhong hid Bai Tianxian’s demon core and the talisman he got from him in the secret base that Xuan Ming pointed out to him before, and made a small mark on the route map.
.
The thunder outside finally stopped.
Toward the top of the mountain on the other side of the sea, the sky glowed with colorful glow, which seemed to be an auspicious sign.
Wan Zhong didn’t know whether Xuan Ming successfully overcame the tribulation or not, but seeing that the weather was better than ever, he felt a little at ease.
He took a hot bath, took off the blood-stained snake skin and shoes, washed them and dried them. Before the mirror came to pick him up, he made a needle with the thorn tip of a cactus and drew chicken skin into thread, mending his tattered pants and shirt.
The best-kept items of clothing were shoes.
Wan Zhong recalled that Xuan Ming carried him with his tail, held him with his hands, and carried him with his broad back on all the difficult roads since he came here. He really didn’t suffer much. If Xuan Ming didn’t have the ulterior motive to violently wash his clothes, maybe his pants and shirt wouldn’t be so tattered, and his poor underwear wouldn’t have to retire early.
Wan Zhong sat at the entrance of the cave, drying his hair and tying his shoes. Thinking about all the things in the past, he still thought the black snake form was the cutest. It didn’t have human mouth so it would not say stupid words all day long to annoy him.
Wan Zhong didn’t have anything valuable on him, and his cell phone and watch were broken. After thinking about it, he had nothing to keep as a souvenir for Xuan Ming, and finally decided to cut off a section of his hair for him.
Wan Zhong felt a little embarrassed while doing this.
With an indescribable piety, he tied up his hair with snake skin and put it into the pit. He took away a rose from Xuan Ming and a pair of strappy underwear made from snake skin that he was wearing.
Wan Zhong carefully looked at every scene around the snake nest, treating every glance as the most precious memory for the rest of his life. Even though he was deeply reluctant to go, he never thought they would have a future together since the human-demon path was different. Now that there was Bai Tianxian standing in the way, it was even more impossible.
Wan Zhong sat on the wooden pier next to the vegetable garden, watching the rushing stream and waiting for the mirror to come to pick him up. But he waited and waited. More than ten days had passed, and the mirror still had not come.
He remembered that Xuan Ming said before he left that no matter whether he succeeded in overcoming the tribulation or not, he would let the mirror come to take him home as soon as possible. Now that it had been so long, could it be something have happened to the mirror?
He couldn’t wait any longer.
Wan Zhong wrapped himself in snake skin, filled the washed wild boar stomach bag with water, put the dried meat into a bag and carried it on his back, and set out with his splitting ax…
Xuan Ming’s tribulation place was on the top of the mountain on the other side of the sea. Wan Zhong had been to that place once, it was very far away. Even at the crawling speed of the black snake, it would take several hours.
Wan Zhong traveled day and night, and it took several days just to walk out of the airtight jungle to the beach.
Fortunately, he had a snake skin and a splitting ax. Although he encountered many strange beasts along the way, they did not dare to step forward. Apart from the shortage of food and water, he encountered no danger.
The next journey required crossing the endless blue sea, which could not be accomplished by human power.
Wan Zhong took a sip of the little water left in the bag, followed his memory, and went to wait anxiously under some coconut trees. If Xuan Ming and the mirror came back, they should stop here, and he could see them at a glance.
.
And on the other side of the sea…
The highest peak that once towered into the clouds had been flattened by lightning. In a huge cave more than a hundred meters deep, there laid a small black snake about one meter long, and a book-sized mirror.
The wind blew into the cave, and the little black snake that was pressed under the mirror moved its tail and opened its eyes with difficulty.
It looked around in confusion, not knowing who it was or where it was. It lowered its dying snake head, vomited out thirsty snake tongue, and smelled a strong smell of blood and lighting smoke.
The little black snake shrank back in fear and felt something pressing on it. After trying hard to push the thing away with the tip of its tail, it discovered that it was a mirror.
It looked at itself with two big green eyes blinking on the mirror, spitting out the snake tongue and twisting the black snake body, and its first thought was.
[Mirror, mirror.]
[How could I be so beautiful?]
[There won’t be any handsome snake in this world other than me, right?]
The little black snake fell in love with the mirror reflection of itself, so beautifully at first sight. When it rolled up the mirror and finally crawled out of the cave after going through all kinds of hardships, it had no idea where to go.
It was very hungry and very thirsty.
The little black snake came to the beach. The big sun made it drowsy and ached all over. It was spitting out snake tongue and was about to lick some sea water to drink. Suddenly, it was knocked into the sea by the mirror.
It was frightened and panicked, not knowing what to do at all. It rolled up the mirror and floated on the waves. It didn’t know how long it floated on the boundless sea, and finally saw a beach again.
