Chapter 3: Picking up nine-tailed fox fur
Time flowed like running water, passing by quietly.
Unknowingly, Chen Tian had spent two months with Minato and Kushina.
Thanks to their care, Chen Tian's heart gradually settled, and he was no longer as anxious as before. Slowly, he began to reveal his true personality.
During these two months, Chen Tian never gave up on his training. In fact, he worked harder than ever.
Even though he hadn't picked up any new cards, his strength had improved somewhat.
Host: Chen Tian
Strength: 6 Speed: 5 Physique: 5 Spirit: 22 Chakra: 5 Talent: Space Talent LV3 Skills: Basic Shuriken LV2, Basic Taijutsu LV1, Chakra Extraction Technique LV1
Seeing his improved strength, speed, and physique, Chen Tian felt satisfied. A smile crept onto his face.
The Basic Taijutsu was taught by Namikaze Minato, and he was just beginning to grasp it.
As for the Chakra Extraction Technique, it was a skill left to him by his father. It was the reason he could extract chakra in the first place.
During this time, he figured out that the chakra value in the system referred to reserves, not the current amount.
A chakra level of 5 was like the size of a cup—it indicated capacity rather than how much chakra was in the cup. When the system's chakra value increased, it meant the cup had grown larger, capable of holding more.
"Kushina, it's time to eat!"
Kushina's voice broke Chen Tian's thoughts, and the tempting aroma of food filled the air.
"I'm coming!" Chen Tian replied, heading toward the kitchen with his short legs.
There was no need to ask—just from the smell, he could tell this was Minato's cooking.
While Kushina's cooking was decent, she lacked talent in the kitchen and never quite exceeded "good enough."
"Let's eat!" Chen Tian quickly washed his hands and began eating with gusto.
Minato and Kushina exchanged smiles before joining him at the table.
It was worth noting that although Minato and Kushina had adopted Chen Tian, they treated him as a younger brother rather than a son.
This distinction was something Chen Tian had argued for fervently.
"Clatter!"
The sound of a bowl falling interrupted their meal. Chen Tian looked up to see a red mist forming around Kushina's body.
Kushina's eyes were closed, and her hands moved into a seal.
Minato quickly appeared beside her, placing his right hand on her lower abdomen. A complex marking emerged where his hand rested.
"Nine-Tails Chakra," Chen Tian immediately thought.
Despite this, he didn't panic after observing Minato and Kushina's calm reactions.
As he continued watching, something unusual happened.
Chen Tian sensed a space—a strange, unobstructed place.
If he took a step, he felt he could enter it.
Without hesitation, he acted on the impulse.
As he stepped forward, it felt as though he passed through a layer of water. The sensation caused him to close his eyes.
What he didn't notice was the purple-glowing card beneath his feet, which he stepped on before disappearing.
When Chen Tian opened his eyes again, he was met with the surprised faces of Minato, Kushina, and even the Nine-Tails.
"How did you get here?"
In an instant, Minato appeared in front of Chen Tian, shielding him.
It took Kushina and the Nine-Tails a moment longer to react.
Kushina quickly moved to Chen Tian's side, while the Nine-Tails huffed proudly but perked its ears to eavesdrop.
"I... I don't know. I just sensed a space and somehow entered it," Chen Tian stammered, equally confused.
Minato's eyes sparkled with realization.
"Did you sense the space and willingly enter it?"
"Yes," Chen Tian confirmed with a nod.
Hearing this, Minato's expression brightened, though he quickly turned to Kushina.
"This matter is settled for now. Let's discuss it later," Minato said.
Kushina hesitated but eventually nodded, disappearing.
Minato led Chen Tian back through the black passage.
Before leaving, Chen Tian glanced curiously at the Nine-Tails and froze. Surrounding the beast were countless cards in various colors: white, blue, and purple.
But before he could do anything, his vision blurred, and he found himself back in his seat as if he had never moved.
This experience sparked a realization in Chen Tian.
Since the Nine-Tails could be imprisoned within a body, it must occupy a unique space.
His ability to enter this space was clearly due to his LV3 Space Talent.
After the incident, Minato confirmed that Chen Tian's spatial talent was at least equal to his own.
This solidified Minato's decision to teach Chen Tian the Flying Thunder God Technique once he reached jonin-level strength.
Unaware of Minato's plans, Chen Tian received some disappointing news.
While he could sense the Nine-Tails' space, he couldn't freely enter it. He would only gain that ability after the Nine-Tails Rebellion.
This realization dashed his hopes of interacting with the numerous cards surrounding the beast.
After dinner, Chen Tian retreated to his room.
The Third Great Ninja War had ended, and the major villages were quietly recovering.
Key events had already taken place: Obito Uchiha was presumed dead, and Minato's reputation continued to grow.
But Chen Tian couldn't shake the oppressive feeling in his heart.
He knew the future: the rise of Uchiha Obito, Orochimaru's defection, the Nine-Tails Rebellion, the Uchiha massacre, and more.
The weight of these events bore down on him.
Others remained oblivious, but Chen Tian wanted to change fate—at least for Minato and Kushina.
To do that, he needed power.
"Minato is 21 now. He'll become Hokage at 22 and die at 24 during the Nine-Tails Rebellion," Chen Tian calculated.
"That gives me three years to reach Kage-level strength!"
The thought made his head spin.
The Kage-level wasn't easily achieved, or Hiruzen Sarutobi wouldn't have remained Hokage for so long.
But now that Chen Tian had set his goal, he began planning.
At five years old, his physical fitness and chakra reserves were his biggest weaknesses.
The solution lay in the system.
The most likely candidate to drop physical fitness cards was Might Guy.
As for chakra, the tailed beasts were the best source—especially the Nine-Tails.
For now, however, he focused on Might Guy.
"He's probably training at the training ground," Chen Tian guessed.
Without wasting time, he informed Kushina and sprinted toward the training ground.
