Alpha Eric's Promise, Protecting those he loves

Chapter 3: Chapter 3

Flight To The States

Ella's POV

As I was about to board the plane, my heart heavy with goodbye.

"Will I ever return?" I whispered to myself.

The unknown awaited, but I took my first step towards my freedom.

I settled into my seat on the transatlantic flight to the US, I couldn't shake off the mix of emotions swirling inside me. The past few weeks had been a troubles, discovering Eric's true identity, finding out I was pregnant with twins, and our unconventional relationship.

The hum of the engines and the gentle turbulence couldn't calm my racing thoughts. I glanced out the window, watching the patchwork fields and buildings of London give way to the vast expanse of the Atlantic.

My mind drifted back to Eric, his piercing gaze, and the way his smile made my heart skip a beat.

I wondered if I'd made the right decision, leaving without telling him about the twins. Fear of rejection and uncertainty about our future had driven me to keep the secret.

The flight attendant's voice broke my reverie, offering snacks and drinks. I opted for a glass of sparkling water, my stomach still queasy from the morning's nausea.

As the plane hit cruising altitude, I pulled out my journal and began writing letters to Aria and Alex, my unborn twins. It was a habit I'd developed since finding out I was pregnant, a way to process my thoughts and document this journey.

"Dear Aria and Alex," I began, "today, I'm flying across the ocean, searching for a fresh start. Your father is an extraordinary man, but our story is complicated. I promise to give you the best life possible, filled with love and happiness."

Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes as I wrote, envisioning the future and the family we'd become.

Before I knew it, the pilot's voice announced our descent into Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. I closed my journal, took a deep breath, and prepared for the next chapter of my life.

As the plane touched down, I felt a sense of resolve. This was my chance to start anew, to create a life for my children, free from the drama and intrigue that seemed to follow Eric. Little did I know, fate had other plans.

As I turned on my phone after the flight, a flurry of notifications flooded my screen. I smiled, seeing Camila's name repeatedly popping up. She was my secretary back in the hospital, and a close confident.

"Camila, hey! I'm here, safe and sound," I answered.

"Thank goodness! I've been worried sick. How was the flight?" Camila's voice was a warm balm, soothing my frazzled nerves.

"Long, but uneventful. Just me, my thoughts, and the occasional turbulence." I chuckled.

"And Eric? Have you talked to him?" Camila's tone turned serious. "No, and I don't plan to. At least, not for a while." I hesitated, unsure how much to reveal.

"Okay, girl. Your secret's safe with me. But promise me you'll stay in touch. I'll go crazy worrying about you." Camila's concern was genuine.

"I promise. Regular updates, I swear." I smiled, grateful for her support.

As looked at the Chicago's streets, Lily sent me an address where she pick me up.

I felt a surge of excitement mixed with a dash of nervousness. The cabin lights flickered still on, signaling the start of my new life in Chicago.

I gathered my belongings, double-checking my passport, phone charger, and wallet.

My suitcase, packed with everything I needed for a fresh start, I checked and ready for collection.

As I disembarked, the cool Chicago air enveloped me, a refreshing change from London's milder climate. I followed the signs to customs and immigration, my heart beating slightly faster with anticipation.

The customs process was efficient, and soon I was collecting my suitcase from the baggage claim. I hailed a taxi and gave the driver the address Lily sent to me.

"201 East Randolph Street, please," I said, trying to sound confident.

The driver nodded, eyeing my luggage in the rearview mirror. "New in town?" He asked. "Yes, moving from London," I replied, gazing out the window.

We crossed the Chicago River, and the city's iconic skyline unfolded before me. The Willis Tower, once the world's tallest building, stood proud, its sleek design a testament to human ingenuity.

As we navigated the city streets, I took in the vibrant street art, the energy, and towering buildings. The taxi driver pointed out landmarks, Millennium Park, the Art Institute of Chicago, and Navy Pier.

Before long, the taxi pulled up to address, a sleek, modern high-rise in the heart of the city. I paid the driver, grabbed my suitcase, and stepped out onto the sidewalk, as I wait for Lily. For a moment, I stood there, absorbing the sights and sounds of my new life.

The wind rustled my hair, carrying the scent of Lake Michigan and the promise of fresh beginnings. I took a deep breath, feeling a sense of determination. This was it, my chance to start anew, to create a life for myself and my unborn twins.

With newfound resolve, I'm now ready to face whatever challenges that lay ahead of me. As I wait for Lily's arrival, I was greeted by a friendly concierge who handed me a friendly hand-shake. New here? He asked. Yes, I answered.

"Welcome to Randolph Towers, Ms...?"

"Ella," I replied, smiling.

"Nice to meet you, Ella. If you need anything or help, don't hesitate to reach out to me, I work here." The stranger said.

I thanked him and made my way to wait for Lily, my heart racing with excitement.

As I'm stepping into my new life.

Still waiting for Lily as she promise to come and take me home. She also promised to tell me about everything from her latest design projects to her favorite TV shows later.

I was scanning the crowded terminal for a familiar face. Suddenly, a bright smile and waving arms caught my attention.

We rushed toward each other, embracing warmly. "Hey, girl! Welcome to Chicago!" Lily exclaimed, holding me at arm's length to study my face.

I grinned, feeling a surge of gratitude. "Thanks for coming, Lily. You didn't have to stress yourself come to pick me, you should have send the house address." I said smiling.

No my friend, I have to. You are new to Chicago.
