Alpha Eric's Promise, Protecting those he loves

Chapter 34: Chapter 34

Chapter

The Pack was full of activities. Warriors trained relentlessly, border patrols doubled their vigilance, and scouts ventured deep into the forest to gather intelligence. The threat of the Shadow Fang Clan loomed over everyone like a dark cloud. Despite their exhaustion, the pack moved with a singular purpose: survival.

In the Alpha's office, Eric sat with his inner circle, including Alex, Aria, and the senior warriors. Maps and reports cluttered the table, evidence of their tireless strategizing.

"We need allies," Eric said, his voice firm. "If Lucian's forces are as large as we suspect, we can't face them alone."

"But who would help us?" one warrior asked. "Most packs fear Lucian and his clan."

Eric turned to Alex. "The Silver Claw Pack owes us a favor. Their Alpha, Marcus, respects you. I want you and Aria to go to them and ask for their support."

Alex nodded. "We'll leave at dawn."

A Desperate Journey

The next morning, Alex and Aria set off for the Silver Claw territory. The journey was fraught with tension, as every shadow and sound felt like a potential threat.

"You think they'll help us?" Aria asked, breaking the silence.

"They will," Alex said confidently. "Marcus may be tough, but he values loyalty. And he knows what's at stake if the Shadow Fang Clan grows stronger."

As they traveled, Aria couldn't shake the memory of Lucian's dark power. It wasn't just his strength that terrified her—it was the unnatural energy that seemed to radiate from him.

After two days of travel, they reached the Silver Claw Pack's territory. The guards at the border recognized Alex immediately and escorted them to the pack house.

Alpha Marcus was waiting for them in his office, a tall, imposing figure with sharp blue eyes.

"Alex," Marcus greeted, clasping his hand firmly. "What brings you here?"

Alex didn't mince words. "The Shadow Fang Clan has declared war on Crescent Moon. We need your help."

Marcus's expression darkened. "The Shadow Fang? I've heard whispers, but I didn't think they'd move so quickly."

"They're not just rogues," Aria added. "Their Alpha, Lucian, has powers unlike anything we've seen. If we don't unite, they'll destroy us all."

Marcus leaned back in his chair, deep in thought. Finally, he nodded.

"You'll have our support," he said. "I'll gather my warriors and meet you at Crescent Moon in three days."

The First Strike

As Alex and Aria made their way back home, a sense of urgency drove them to move faster. But their relief was short-lived.

As they neared the Crescent Moon border, the acrid smell of smoke filled the air.

"Something's wrong," Alex said, his tone sharp.

They sprinted the rest of the way, their worst fears confirmed when they saw the destruction.

Several pack houses were burning, and warriors were locked in battle with rogues. The Shadow Fang Clan had launched their first strike.

Aria immediately joined the fight, her blades flashing as she cut down rogue after rogue. Alex fought beside her, his wolf taking over as he tore through their enemies.

"Protect the pack house!" someone shouted.

Aria's heart pounded as she made her way toward the center of the chaos. She saw Eric fighting three rogues at once, his movements a blur of precision and power.

"Aria! Alex!" Eric called out when he saw them. "Get to the Alpha's den! Protect the elders!"

A Battle for Survival

Inside the den, the elders and pups were huddled together, fear etched on their faces. Aria stood guard at the entrance, her senses on high alert.

"Stay calm," she told them. "We won't let them get to you."

The rogues were relentless, their numbers seemingly endless. For every one they defeated, two more seemed to take their place.

Aria fought with everything she had, her body screaming in protest as exhaustion set in. She glanced at Alex, who was covered in cuts and bruises but still fighting with unyielding determination.

"How much longer can we hold out?" she thought, panic creeping into her mind.

Just when it seemed they would be overwhelmed, a thunderous howl echoed through the forest.

"The Silver Claw Pack!" someone shouted.

Marcus and his warriors charged into the fray, their arrival turning the tide of the battle. Together, the combined forces of Crescent Moon and Silver Claw pushed the rogues back.

By dawn, the rogues had retreated, leaving behind the bodies of their fallen. The cost of victory was high—many Crescent Moon warriors lay injured or dead, and the pack's territory bore the scars of the battle.

Eric gathered his warriors in the pack house, his expression grim.

"This was just the beginning," he said. "Lucian wanted to weaken us, and he succeeded. But we're still standing. We'll rebuild, and we'll fight back."

The pack howled in agreement, their resolve stronger than ever.

The following days, the Crescent Moon and Silver Claw packs worked together to fortify their defenses. Scouts were sent to track the rogues, and plans were made for a counterattack.

Aria and Alex continued their training in secret, pushing themselves to their limits. They knew that when the time came to face Lucian again, they needed to be ready.

One evening, as they sparred in the forest, Aria paused, her breathing heavy.

"Do you ever think about what happens if we fail?" she asked quietly.

Alex looked at her, his expression serious. "I think about it all the time. But that's why we can't fail. Too many people are counting on us."

Aria nodded, his words reigniting her determination.

The Warning

One night, as the pack gathered around a bonfire to honor their fallen, a chilling wind swept through the clearing.

From the shadows, a voice yelled.

"You fight bravely, but your efforts are futile," it said.

Lucian stepped into the firelight, flanked by two rogues. The pack immediately tensed, but he raised a hand.

"I'm not here to fight," he said, his tone mocking. "I came to deliver a message."

Eric stepped forward, his eyes blazing with anger. "You're trespassing on my land."

Lucian smirked. "Not for long. Surrender now, and I might spare your pack. Resist, and I'll annihilate you."

"You'll never take this land," Eric growled.

Lucian's smile faded, replaced by a cold, menacing expression.

"Then I'll see you on the battlefield," he said.

With that, he vanished into the night, leaving the pack to grapple with the weight of his threat.

Tension hung heavy in the air. The pack prepared for the battle they knew was coming, each member doing their part to ensure their survival.

Aria found herself drawn to the pups, spending her evenings telling them stories and reassuring them that they would be safe.

"Do you believe we'll win?" one pup asked her.

She hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "I do. Because we have each other. And as long as we stand together, nothing can defeat us."

Her words rang true, not just for the pups, but for herself as well.

Alex and Aria stood together on a hill overlooking the pack's territory.

"We've come a long way," Aria said softly.

Alex nodded. "And we've got a long way to go."

They stood in silence for a moment, the weight of their journey pressing down on them.

But as they looked out at the pack—at the warriors training, the elders strategizing, and the pups playing—they felt a glimmer of hope.

No matter what the Shadow Fang Clan threw at them, they would face it together.
