Alter My Fate

Chapter 8: Diana

A woman words dripped with uncertainty,"Is this truly Havi's abode?"

A whispered summons shattered Havi's repose, awakening him to an enigmatic presence.

"Who could this be? The voice seems eerily familiar", Havi pondered inwardly.

As he shook off slumber, Havi's movements became fluid, washing away fatigue, and introducing a refreshed countenance. Then, strode to the door.

"One moment, please", Havi said, his voice accompanied by the creaking of the door.

Time stood still as their eyes met, the world around them dissolving into insignificance as Havi beheld the vision of loveliness before him.

"Ah, it's you...", Havi stammered, his voice laced with astonishment.

Like a rose unfolding its petals, her smile bloomed, its beauty captivating Havi, as she welcomed him with open arms.

"Hello, Havi... Do you still remember me?", she asked, her voice tinged with a hint of uncertainty.

'Diana Galuh!!', Havi's heart screamed in silence, its voice a tender whisper that only his soul could hear.

Diana Galuh, the paragon of academic excellence, stood before him. Her presence stirring a mix of emotions within Havi.

She is the woman who has captured her soul with her intelligence, beauty, and captivating smile.

Her reign as the top student was a romantic notion, a fairy tale of hard work and determination, a testament to the power of the human spirit to achieve greatness.

In a past life, Diana had confessed her ardent feelings to Havi, only to be met with indifference, as he was then fully devoted to his academic pursuits.

Like a delicate flower, Diana's love had bloomed in the shadows of Havi's academic ambitions, only to wither away, unacknowledged and unrequited.

Even after Havi's descent into recidivism, Diana continued to visit him, a remarkable display of loyalty despite being one of his victims.

The shadows of Havi's past misdeeds could not extinguish the light of Diana's loyalty, her presence a gentle breeze that soothed the savage breast of his recidivism.

Like the first whispers of a winter's breeze, the woman's sorrowful tale began to unfold as she crossed the threshold of her corporate domain, a poignant juxtaposition of power and vulnerability.

In the flickering light of the setting sun, Havi's form seemed to blend with the shadows as he snatched Diana's handbag, his movements a blur of stealth and cunning.

Like a whispered secret, the handbag slipped from Havi's fingers, and he was struck by the swiftness of Diana's response, a testament to her sharp instincts and quick wit.

With lightning speed, Diana reclaimed her handbag from Havi's grasp, and in a swift motion, she delivered a resounding kick to the small of his back, sending him tumbling to the ground.

The shadows seemed to deepen and darken as the crowd closed in around Havi, their faces hidden behind a veil of anonymity. As they grasped him, his hat was swept away, revealing a glimpse of his true nature, a mystery waiting to be unraveled.

A jolt of recognition ran through Diana's veins as she beheld the face of her assailant, a face that was all too familiar, yet utterly unexpected in this context.

This was the man who had consistently proven to be her academic nemesis, a rival who had challenged her at every turn, from school to district to provincial competitions.

He was the one who had introduced her to the intoxicating thrill of romance, and though the years had passed. Diana's heart still belonged to him, awaiting the day when Havi would come back to her and ask for her hand in marriage.

The shadows seemed to deepen and darken as Havi stood before Diana, his eyes cast downward in shame, while she, her heart still reeling from the shock of his return, felt the weight of their unfinished business settling upon her like a shroud.

Diana had once imagined Havi fleeing to a distant village, province, or even island, but all her benevolent assumptions were shattered as she witnessed the scene unfolding before her eyes.

With a slap that echoed through the crowd, Diana's pent-up emotions finally found release, her face a mask of anguish and betrayal as she confronted the man she had loved and waited for, in vain, for over two decades.

Diana realized, with a pang of regret, that waiting for someone she loved for half her life had been the greatest folly of her existence, a blind devotion that had left her heartbroken and alone.

As she burst into her office, Diana's eyes seemed to hold a thousand secrets, a thousand lies that had been told and retold over the years. The mystery of Havi's true nature had finally been solved, but the consequences of that revelation remained to be seen.

In the silence of her office, Diana's heart seemed to beat with a newfound sense of purpose, a determination to uncover the truth about Havi's past and the secrets that had driven him to become the man he was today.

Diana's privileged upbringing was a far cry from the turmoil that had recently beset her life. As the daughter of wealthy entrepreneur Herianto, who owned an exclusive import car showroom, and Liyawati, a renowned restaurateur in Telaga City, Diana had always been accustomed to a life of luxury and comfort

Diana's parents had all but given up hope of their daughter ever marrying, so entrenched was her refusal to consider anyone but the one she had loved and lost.

Their attempts to arrange a marriage for her had been met with resistance, and they were beginning to worry that their daughter would remain alone forever.

As the years went by, Diana's parents grew increasingly anxious for her to settle down, their own mortality looming large in their minds.

They longed to hold their grandchildren in their arms, to experience the simple pleasures of family life before it was too late.

The golden years of Diana's parents' lives were tinged with a sense of melancholy, a realization that their time on this earth was limited.

They yearned to leave a lasting legacy, to know that their daughter would be happy and fulfilled long after they were gone.

As her parents' mortal journey came to an end, Diana's devotion to Havi only deepened.

She continued to hold out hope that he would one day return to her, and that they would finally be able to build a life together.

The shadows of Diana's past now seemed to be stirring, like restless spirits awakened from a deep slumber.

The choices she had made, the paths she had chosen, all seemed to be leading her down a labyrinthine corridor of regret and self-doubt.

The last time Diana saw Havi was in the cold, unforgiving confines of a prison cell. Her anger and hurt boiled over, and she unleashed a torrent of words upon him, leaving him slumped and defeated, his eyes cast downward in shame.

In a mere 15 minutes, Diana unleashed a torrent of emotions, a cathartic release of pain and sorrow that had been building for years. The intensity of her words was a testament to the depth of her hurt, a hurt that Havi had inflicted upon her.

After their final confrontation, Diana vanished from Havi's life, leaving behind only whispers and rumors of her whereabouts.

It was said that she had escaped to a distant land, where she found solace in the arms of another man, and began a new chapter in her life.

It was unclear whether Diana's marriage was a union of love or a calculated move to spite Havi.

One thing was certain, however, Diana's decision to marry was, at least in part, a desire to exact revenge on the man who had broken her heart.

Back to Havi and Diana in the present

Havi's eyes locked onto Diana, and he was suddenly swept away by the memories of their past. He recalled the joy and the pain, the triumphs and the tragedies, and the love that had once burned brightly between them.

With tears shining like diamonds in his eyes, Havi took Diana's hand and led her into the haven of his home.

The door closed behind them, wrapping them in a soft, silken cloak of solitude, where they could surrender to their emotions and let their hearts speak.

"Havi, what shadows do you hide? What do you plan to do with me? Now, we're trapped in this private world?", Diana's voice was laced with a hint of fear, her eyes scanning the darkness for answers

As Diana's eyes locked onto Havi's, she felt a shiver run down her spine. His piercing gaze, shining with unshed tears, seemed to hold her captive, rendering her unable to move or escape the intensity of the moment.

Diana's mind was plagued by the recurring thought, 'Had she erred in judgment by coming to Havi's house?'. The question swirled in her brain, refusing to be silenced.

In a sudden and inexplicable move, Havi fell to his knees, his eyes hidden behind a veil of tears, and spoke words that seemed to hold a hidden meaning, leaving Diana feeling uneasy and perplexed.

"Diana, I was wrong. Forgive me... Please, forgive me again. My foolish actions back then forced you to wait decades for true love. This time, let me repay your kindness'.
