Chapter 103: Wanda In Black Silk Stockings, Ch 46.1
"Forget it, if I go upstairs, I might disturb them," Gwen thought, hesitating repeatedly as she restrained her curiosity. If her interruption caused any problems for their business, she wouldn't even know how to apologize. After all, it wasn't a small amount; she couldn't just offer herself in return. So in the end, she decided not to go upstairs and disturb the two.
"It must be quite noisy up there; how could there be such motivation?" Listening to the creaking sounds from upstairs, Gwen suddenly felt that running a business was really hard. It seemed that even someone as capable as Hode had to put in a lot of effort. Just the fact that he had to work late into the night exceeded what many others would do. Even if the noise had started to shake the tables, it must have been a very exciting situation. She could even hear the direction of the sounds moving upstairs.
"It seems like this is about furniture business." Gwen pictured in her mind Hode and his partner testing the durability of furniture. After all, that was the only explanation for why they would be testing a table one moment and a bed the next. Even after a while, they moved on to test some chairs. The only possible explanation for this was that it involved furniture, and judging by the situation, it seemed they had put in quite a bit of thought; she could even hear their heavy breathing.
She didn't know how much time had passed, but eventually, Gwen dozed off while lying in bed.
The next morning, Gwen was sound asleep, her head tilted on the bed. She couldn't remember the last time she slept so comfortably, even though Hode wasn't there. She knew he was upstairs, and as long as he was there, she felt an endless sense of security. She even drooled a little in her sleep, her face wearing a blissful smile.
Knock, knock, knock...
There was a knocking sound at the door. Gwen groggily got up and rushed to open the door, her hair all messy and rubbing her eyes, looking incredibly cute. Outside room "617" stood Hode.
"Mr. Hode, why are you up so early?"
Hode noticed the dark circles under Gwen's eyes and asked curiously, "Is it early? Did you stay up late last night? You have dark circles!"
"Yeah, I had some trouble sleeping. You were a bit loud while discussing furniture projects last night," Gwen said, still half-asleep, then quickly added, "But it's okay; I know you were talking business, Mr. Hode."
"Furniture company?" Hode blinked in surprise, momentarily taken aback. After all, he hadn't slept at all, and it was entirely possible he was just imagining things.
"Isn't it a furniture company? I heard you testing furniture upstairs!" Gwen said earnestly, nodding. She had thoroughly thought it over before concluding their identity. If they weren't in the furniture business, there would have been no need to test the durability of any furniture.
"Yes, yes, yes." Hode suddenly realized that the soundproofing in this house was worse than he had imagined. "Next time, I'll get you a much better room!"
He had to just nod along, thinking it better not to tell Gwen what had actually happened upstairs!
"Your room seems pretty good…" Gwen murmured under her breath, sounding dissatisfied. If only she could hold a plush teddy bear like the one she owned, she would sleep so much more soundly.
"What did you say?" Though he was normally composed, Hode was still a bit dazed from the night and didn't catch what she said.
