Chapter 34: Chapter 34: The Electric Shock Maniac
Su Sheng smiled at the security guard and walked over to Cisco Ramon and Caitlin Snow, who were deep in conversation.
"Excuse me."
Su Sheng stood in front of them, smiling. The two stopped, looking at him curiously. Cisco Ramon was the first to speak. "Is there something you need?"
"I want you to help me create something."
"What?" Cisco asked, blinking in surprise before smiling. "Sorry, but I don't know you."
"That doesn't matter. I need a portable sonic device. It should be small, something like a necklace. I don't have any materials, and I can't offer you any payment. You'll have to figure that out yourself. Oh, and I need it done in half an hour," Su Sheng said, still smiling.
Cisco frowned, wondering if he was dealing with a madman.
"I'm not going to make you anything. Please step aside."
"Really, you won't?" Su Sheng asked again.
"Move aside," Cisco repeated, this time more firmly.
"Okay." Su Sheng sighed, sounding disappointed. He slowly looked up, and suddenly, sparks of electricity crackled around his hand. The blue light of the electricity reflected in Cisco and Caitlin's shocked faces. Su Sheng asked again, almost regretfully, "How about now? Can you do it?"
Cisco stared, dumbfounded, at the electricity sparking from Su Sheng's hand. Superpowers. Real superpowers! Once he snapped out of his shock, Cisco didn't back away but instead leaned forward, excitement replacing fear. He spoke rapidly, "How are you doing that? Can you generate as much power as you want? What's the maximum current? Doesn't it hurt you?"
Su Sheng, slightly taken aback by Cisco's reaction, pointed toward the security guard who had just drawn his gun.
A bolt of lightning shot from his hand, striking the guard instantly.
The guard screamed and convulsed before collapsing unconscious to the ground.
"Wha…"
Cisco finally realized the seriousness of the situation and instinctively moved to shield Caitlin. "What are you doing? Don't do anything crazy, or we…we'll call the police."
"I didn't want things to get this intense. I just wanted you to help me make a sonic device." Su Sheng noticed Caitlin, trembling, as she tried to pull her phone from her bag. He sighed and raised his hand, releasing another jolt of electricity.
"Aahhh!"
Caitlin screamed, and the current knocked both her and Cisco to the ground.
The electricity disappeared, leaving Caitlin unconscious on the ground and Cisco weakly sitting down, his legs trembling.
"I'll be back in half an hour. I want that device ready by then." Su Sheng walked over, picked up the unconscious Caitlin Snow, and turned to leave.
"Caitlin!" Cisco shouted, his voice shaky as he fumbled for his phone to call the police. But before he could dial, a hand gently stopped him.
"Professor Wells!" Cisco looked up to see Harrison Wells, his mentor and the head of S.T.A.R. Labs, standing there. "Caitlin…Caitlin was taken by that Electric Shock Maniac!"
"Electric Shock Maniac…" Harrison Wells' face twitched slightly at Cisco's habit of giving people names. He nodded gravely. "I saw everything. Why did he come to you?"
"I don't know! I don't even know him. He just showed up and demanded I make a sonic device. No materials, no payment, and he only gave me half an hour!" Cisco explained, still rattled.
"He wants a sonic device. That means Caitlin won't be in immediate danger. Don't call the police. You focus on making the device, and I'll track them down." Harrison Wells patted Cisco's shoulder reassuringly. "Caitlin will be okay. Don't worry."
Cisco took a deep breath and nodded. "I'll get to work."
Back in the lab, Cisco began working on the sonic device while Harrison Wells searched for Caitlin's location with a serious expression on his face.
Meanwhile, on the rooftop of a nearby residential building, Caitlin Snow began to regain consciousness.
As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Su Sheng standing nearby, watching her. He hadn't moved any closer but spoke apologetically. "Sorry about that. I think I'm just really into using this new ability. So, yeah…apologies for electrocuting you."
"You…stay away from me! Don't come any closer!" Caitlin stammered, slumping against the ground in fear, not fully processing his words as she frantically waved her hands, trying to keep him at bay.
"I'm not coming closer, I'm just…" Su Sheng began, but Caitlin continued to cry out in panic.
"Don't come any closer! Stay away!"
Su Sheng sighed deeply, frustration flickering across his face as electricity crackled once more in his hand. His eyes narrowed. "Shut up, or I'll electrocute you again!"
Caitlin froze in fear, her lips clamping shut.
"You tell me to stay away, but did I even move?" Su Sheng snapped. "I swear, you people are either sick or masochistic. Why do you always make things difficult when I'm just trying to talk?"
