American Comics: The Strongest Villain

Chapter 4: Chapter 4 The simple folk customs of Gotham City

As Su Sheng pulled the fence bars back to make the opening smaller, Catwoman's patience thinned.

"Are you crazy?" she asked, incredulous.

"Do you have the cure?" Su Sheng laughed.

"You belong in Arkham, not Blackgate," she muttered. In Gotham, finding someone truly sane was a rarity.

"I'll visit someday," Su Sheng replied, as though he hadn't noticed her sarcasm.

Catwoman sighed in exasperation. This guy wasn't just odd—he was downright dangerous. Deciding there was no point in further conversation, she approached the gap and slipped one leg through. But as she pushed her body forward, she found herself stuck—specifically, her chest. It was too tight.

The opening had been wide enough earlier, but Su Sheng had deliberately narrowed it. She shot him a glare, realizing his game. His lingering looks, his unnecessary adjustments to the bars—it all made sense now.

This bastard did it on purpose.

Fuming, she forced herself through with a grunt, ignoring the discomfort. When she emerged on the other side, she gave Su Sheng a venomous look, her body still aching from the effort.

"Bravo!" Su Sheng applauded sarcastically. "You've proven it's real with flying colors!"

Who said it was fake in the first place? Catwoman seethed, resisting the urge to turn back and teach him a lesson. But before she could act, a prison guard spotted her from down the hall, rushing to open the door and subdue her.

The door swung open.

Armed with batons, the guards descended on her. Normally, a few guards wouldn't have posed much of a challenge for Catwoman, but the pain in her shoulder slowed her down. She was cornered, unable to fight back effectively.

Suddenly, a loud explosion rocked the prison.

Shouts echoed from outside as a group of armed men stormed in, quickly overwhelming the guards. Prisoners were released as the newcomers handed out weapons with a crazed enthusiasm.

"You're free! Gotham is yours—take revenge on those rich bastards!" one of the tattooed men shouted as he unlocked cells and tossed guns to the prisoners.

Chaos ensued. Blackgate erupted into a full-scale riot.

With the guards distracted, Catwoman tried to navigate through the mess, but the crowd jostled her, making it difficult to escape.

"You're free!" the tattooed man said as he tossed a gun to Su Sheng.

"Thanks!" Su Sheng smiled, inspecting the firearm. He had never fired a gun before, but it didn't matter. He could always learn on the fly—or, better yet, find someone who could teach him.

With the corridor in disarray, Su Sheng strolled out at a leisurely pace, dodging the frenzy with remarkable ease. His flexibility and reflexes allowed him to weave through the crowd effortlessly. When he passed by Catwoman, he shot her a smug smile, ignoring the fury in her eyes as he made his way out of the prison.

By the time Catwoman finally escaped, Su Sheng was long gone. The city streets were in utter chaos.

"Gotham, ever so charming in its own way," Su Sheng mused as he walked through the anarchy. Gunfire echoed all around, mingled with screams, roars, and desperate pleas. Mansions and businesses were being looted, the wealthy dragged out and humiliated. In Gotham, even the rich knew better than to step outside without a gun, and many fired back without hesitation.

Su Sheng chuckled to himself. Only Gotham, he thought. When Darkseid's army invades Earth, these people would still shoot without hesitation—whether it's demons, gods, or ghosts.

The sky was overcast, thick clouds obscuring the sun. Tall Gothic buildings loomed over the streets, their grandeur masking the filth and corruption below. This was Gotham, raw and unfiltered.

"Ah, the chaos—it's like music," Su Sheng muttered, adjusting his collar as he approached a nearby apartment building. The sound of gunfire and screams echoed around him, but Su Sheng casually rang the doorbell, maintaining a gentlemanly demeanor despite the chaos.

"Ding dong, ding dong..."

No response.

"Guess I'll have to be less polite," Su Sheng shrugged.

With a swift kick, he knocked the door off its hinges.

"Alright," Su Sheng announced, gun raised. "Everyone listen up—this is a robbery—"

A gunshot rang out from inside, cutting him off mid-sentence as a bullet whizzed past him.
