America's No.1 Demon Cultivator

Chapter 11: Chapter 11: This is Faith

Wang Fugui looked at his phone, then at Xiu Nuo.

After a moment's thought, Wang Fugui still said, "How should I respond?"

"Haven't you considered this scenario?"

"This guy is in charge of the temporary camp, I can just ignore him."

"Then tell him that," Xiu Nuo said calmly. "You received a large sum of money, some idiot got scared by the process in the rainforest, he took out his savings, and asked you to take him to the Bahamas."

"What?"

Xiu Nuo handed the phone to Wang Fugui. "If we're lucky, those people will be waiting in Ecuador, right? And we can enter the Bahamas without a visa, can't we? You just said so."

"I just said that, but you've only just found out about these things and already..." Wang Fugui was so shocked he could hardly speak.

After a long pause, he finally said, "I'm starting to really believe what you're saying now. I feel like even if we get caught, you won't."

Xiu Nuo gently closed his eyes. "Trust me, if I get caught, none of you can run away. At the very least, you're all my accomplices, no one will believe I could take down so many people on my own."

Wang Fugui's mouth twitched violently. "What else have you... figured out?"

"You're planning to ditch us on the road and make a run for it." A single sentence made both women tense up simultaneously.

Wang Fugui's eyes twitched. "Is there anything you can't foresee?"

"Guess?"

"I..."

"Do your job, Fugui. I'm going to rest. Just a last reminder, my patience and tolerance are limited." Xiu's plain statement made Wang Fugui involuntarily shudder.

This man... is a bit too terrifying!

He must be a high-intelligence criminal who fled because he committed a crime!

Diego looked at the severely beaten-up camp leader in front of him, then spat out a loogie.

He walked over to Jonas's side and said, "Half of the people have left, only these are left. You told me to ask the ones who left first, Joe, why are you so focused on the ones who left first?"

"Because what these people told me is too similar to what your men analyzed, Diego." Jonas ripped open his shirt collar. "This damn rainforest climate, I was only supposed to stay here for half a day, and now you've dragged me here for a day and a half!"

"Think about that profit, Jonas," Diego snorted. "Do you think it's that easy to get a 50% discount from me? I'm a drug dealer! A drug dealer, you understand! Not a preacher!"

Jonas sighed helplessly, "Alright, for the sake of money."

"I thought you'd say for the sake of God."

"Forget it, if God knew what I'm doing, He would only try to find a way to send me to hell." Jonas looked around. "So, what's the news? Don't tell me again that they heard gunfire, that there was a shootout, my ears are tired of hearing it, these people have seen your brother with their own eyes! Where did those two men and two women taken by your brother go?"

"That's what I want to know, Joe." Diego looked at Jonas skeptically. "According to your reasoning, my brother should have been dead a long time ago to end up like that, but these people, they clearly saw my brother alive approximately a day ago, why is that?"

"Why?" Jonas's voice rose. "I want to know why the hell too! And that's not my reasoning, you understand Diego! It's not mine. It's science! Science tells me. If you don't believe me, go ask AI! Ask it how that damn mummy was formed!"

"So why is that?"

"You..." Jonas suddenly felt like he was casting pearls before swine.

Jonas rubbed his hair. "Let me think about it."

For a while, Jonas finally looked at Diego, "Alright, I admit I can't think of anything special either. I have two theories now, see which one you believe."

"Go ahead."

"The first one," Jonas held up his index finger, "is that those bastards know black magic and turned your brother into a mummified corpse after killing him."

Upon hearing this, a trace of thought appeared in Diego's eyes.

Jonas was in despair. Do these damned spoiled brats really have no brains? He's actually considering this clearly nonsensical stuff!

Jonas quickly held up his middle finger as well, "The second one is that those people mistook him for someone else."

"That's impossible!" Diego immediately retorted.

"Oh, God." Jonas spread his hands out, shocked as he looked at Diego, "You'd rather believe in black magic in this world than in the possibility that those people made a mistake?"

Diego appeared to be deep in thought, "It's not that, Joe, but my great-grandmother once told me a story about..."

"Damn it! Who wants to hear your great-grandmother's story! Are you trying to show off your happy family to me, Diego!" Jonas pointed at two Asians in the distance, "Come on, tell me! What's different about them!"

Diego looked over, thought for a moment, and then said, "It seems like..."

"There's nothing different, right?"

"Well... but there must be something different, right?"

"What did I just hear! You're even questioning me!" Jonas rubbed his nose bridge with his hand, "Forget it, I shouldn't be entangled with you on this matter. For the sake of US dollars, yes, for the sake of US dollars, if you can't tell the difference between these people, then how could they possibly tell us apart."

"What I mean is, if someone disguised himself as your brother, even slightly, just slightly, then they wouldn't be able to tell the difference, right?"

Diego's eyes brightened abruptly, "Makes sense!"

Jonas took a deep breath, feeling that the longer he stayed with this man, the lower his own IQ would drop.

"So, you still haven't told me what's up with those people, Diego! Stop beating around the bush! Give me the answer I want, or even if God came down asking for my help, I'd just give him the finger!"

"Hey, calm down, Joe." Clearly, Diego had realized something too, and he quickly said, "The news from over there is, the people you're looking for gave the guide a lot of money. They got scared by what happened in Panama and didn't dare to go to Honduras next, so they asked the guide to take them to the Bahamas, and from there they would go to Florida."

As he spoke, Diego also looked somewhat triumphant, "I sent people to the Bahamas to find them, and then I'll send people to wait in Ecuador, we can definitely find them.."

Jonas looked at Diego as if he were an idiot, "I am so glad you have a backup plan, Diego. So, I want to ask in advance, if you can't find them in Ecuador or the Bahamas, will I still get my commission?"

"Of course not!"

"Then I need to raise my cut by another half percent."

"Hey, have some spirit of the contract, Joe!"

"That's for the emotional distress, Diego!" Jonas stared fixedly at Diego, "Believe me, when I agreed to a half percent deal, I definitely didn't expect that my biggest obstacle would come from within!"

"Only a half percent." Obviously, when it came to money, Diego showed a wisdom he hadn't shown before, "Alternatively, I still have bullets."

"Fine." Jonas immediately dropped his previous demeanor, "Then let's continue the chase, follow their route! But we're already behind, so we must move faster than them, to Honduras!"

"But Costa Rica comes first."

"They are already there."

"And then there's Nicaragua."

"Can your men cover the whole of Nicaragua? Nicaragua is relatively safe; they'll have ways to go that we don't know about! But Honduras is different, Tegucigalpa is a mandatory route!"

As he said this, Jonas's voice was clearly angry, "Do as I say, can you not have your own thoughts for once, Diego! Even if you don't trust me, you should at least trust my faith in US dollars! A faith beyond question or profanity!"
