Chapter 19: Chapter 19: Eye of the storm
"Aren't you the Founding Titan?" Reiner asked, his voice trembling, his wide eyes fixed on Niikaz's smirk. To him, she looked terrifying—an unstoppable force.
Niikaz, however, was stifling laughter. The idea of being mistaken for the Founding Titan amused her. While the Founding Titan was known as the most powerful being in this world, she knew she possessed power far beyond even that.
Her crimson eyes flickered to a glowing hologram visible only to her. The integration process was almost done. In just a few hours, she would fully absorb the Titan powers, allowing her to understand and control them completely. But for now, her small body struggled to adapt. If she pushed herself too hard, the unstable power could tear her apart.
Nearby, Erwin, Levi, and Hanji exchanged glances, noticing the tension in her expression. They were aware of her limits, having discussed them in detail earlier. Erwin quickly stepped forward, his voice sharp. "We're moving out. This area is no longer safe. We'll relocate the shifters to headquarters where we can keep them contained."
Hanji adjusted her glasses, nodding. "Moving them won't be easy, but we'll make it work."
Levi folded his arms, his tone impatient. "Then let's not waste time. The longer we wait, the more risk we take."
Captain Mike sniffed the air, his expression grim. "A storm's coming. We need to hurry."
The soldiers began their preparations. Erwin's mind was already working through the details. He had handpicked this group of 200 elite soldiers, using critical insights gained from his contract with Niikaz. The visions she had shared showed him who could be trusted—those who had proven their loyalty and courage in the past. This force would be the backbone of their mission.
Amid the commotion, Annie gave Bertholdt a sharp look. The signal was clear: Do something.
Bertholdt's heart raced as he caught her gaze. Reiner was out of commission, unable to transform, leaving everything to him. If he could just turn into the Colossal Titan, they might have a chance.
He hesitated, weighing his options. But before he could act, Niikaz appeared in front of him, her glowing eyes boring into his.
"You're planning something," she said softly, her voice steady but menacing. "Go ahead. Try it. But let me warn you—your transformation won't even finish."
Her words froze him in place. Fear gripped him as he realized she had seen right through him. Annie's signal lingered in his mind, but he couldn't bring himself to move.
Meanwhile, Erwin spoke quietly to Hanji. "We need to keep this operation hidden. If the higher-ups or priests catch wind, they'll interfere and ruin everything."
Hanji nodded, her face serious. "We'll keep it contained. Only the Scouts can know."
As the group prepared to leave, Niikaz glanced at the horizon. Her powers churned within her, unstable but growing stronger. It wouldn't be long now. Once the process was complete, everything would change.
