"Power Source: High-Energy Battery Pack (20,000 kWh)."

Lowering his hand from the mech, Su Wu willed it to respond. Instantly, the cockpit of the upgraded miniature mech silently lifted open, revealing a seat and control console within.

Su Wu climbed in and took his seat, noting how the experience was akin to sitting in the driver's seat of a car. The space wasn't particularly spacious but was more than sufficient, allowing a comfortable position for piloting the mech.

After adjusting to the cockpit's environment, Su Wu activated the mech's combat mode. The cockpit hatch began to lower slowly, enclosing him within. For a brief moment, darkness enveloped his vision before it was replaced with clarity.

In front of him, Su Wu could see the manufacturing center's walls and nearby engineering robots as though no barrier separated them. Yet, the faint green rows of numbers and icons representing the mech's status and auxiliary modules reminded him he was now fully shielded within the mech's protective armor.

What he saw wasn't direct—it was the external footage captured by the mech's cameras and projected onto the cockpit's interior display.

"Stand up," Su Wu thought.

The mech immediately obeyed, and his perspective shifted slightly upward, from being on level with the engineering robots to looking down at them.

This was the mech's primary control mode: thought synchronization.

Inside the cockpit, Su Wu's every thought seamlessly transmitted to the mech's advanced tactical computer, which executed corresponding actions in perfect synchrony.

He tested this by controlling the miniature mech to move around the control center, and the results were exceptionally smooth. The experience gave Su Wu the impression that the mech wasn't just an extension of his body—it felt even more agile and free than his own limbs.

While his physical body had limits in strength, stamina, and durability, the mech seemed to have none. Its limits were defined only by the mechanical and material thresholds of its construction.

"Let's test it outside."

Growing increasingly adept at controlling the mech, Su Wu became dissatisfied with the limited space in the control center and decided to test the mech's full capabilities on the surface.

As soon as this thought formed, the control center's outer doors began to open. This wasn't mere coincidence—it was Su Wu's command, transmitted from the mech's tactical computer to the refuge's AI, which promptly executed the request.

What seemed like a complex process unfolded seamlessly, leaving Su Wu with the distinct impression that the refuge itself was an extension of his will.

Guiding the mech onto an elevator platform, Su Wu ascended to the exit tunnel's end. While waiting for the outermost gate to open, he activated the mech's optical camouflage device.

Immediately, the surrounding light bent and twisted around the mech's surface. Within half a second, the entire mech seamlessly blended into the environment, leaving no visible trace.

"It merely bends light to deceive the eye," Su Wu noted.

"The mech's mass remains intact. Some radar systems might struggle to detect it due to the material properties, and it evades infrared detection thanks to the self-circulating life support system. But these are incidental benefits, not inherent to the camouflage."

Connecting to a nearby camera, Su Wu observed the mech's cloaked state from an external perspective. Visually, it was flawless—like a ghost blending perfectly into its surroundings.

However, the refuge's AI could still detect the mech's position by analyzing disturbances in airflow within the tunnel.

"Also, movement speed must remain low when cloaked. Activating weapons disables the camouflage as well," Su Wu reminded himself, reviewing the tactical computer's manual.

Overall, while the optical camouflage was less miraculous than it first appeared, it remained a technology far ahead of its time—practically science fiction.

With this capability, Su Wu's mech would hold a significant tactical advantage in future combat scenarios. As long as he avoided carelessness, his enemies would find it nearly impossible to deal with him.

Remaining cloaked, Su Wu exited the refuge. Amid the bustling crowd of workers and vehicles on the surface, no one noticed his presence.

Su Wu selected a direction and moved away at a modest speed of 2 meters per second. Once he was out of sight, he deactivated the camouflage and pushed the mech to its maximum speed.

The mech surged forward with a sudden burst of power, its systems roaring to life. Like a humanoid metal beast, it tore across the rugged terrain of hills and scattered rocks at full speed.

The optical camouflage failed almost immediately as the speed increased.

"Maximum speed: 70 kilometers per hour," Su Wu observed, glancing at the display.

This speed wasn't particularly high, but on a rocky wasteland filled with obstacles, it felt like a lightning-fast sprint.

Thanks to the mech's exceptional shock absorption system, Su Wu barely felt the turbulence of the rapid movement. Only when climbing or descending hills did the slight sensation of weightlessness hint at the mech's velocity.

After running across the land for a while, Su Wu decided to test the mech's low-altitude thrusters.

With a distinct burst of thrust, the mech's perspective rapidly shifted upward. The landscape below receded as the mech launched several dozen meters into the air. It glided forward at over 300 kilometers per hour, covering nearly a kilometer before descending back to the ground.
