Arcane: Twin Cities Mechanic

Morgana could hear Li Lin's call, and naturally, so could Kayle, who was caught between the two.

Although she did not understand where the confidence of this young man in skillful armor came from, she could not help but feel a strange sense of unease rising within her.

Only the guilty need to fear. The light of justice and the Holy Judgment Sword will protect me!

Kayle suppressed the overwhelming emotions in her heart. Her golden eyes, burning with light, glanced briefly at Li Lin and Morgana, who had split up, fleeing in opposite directions.

After a moment's thought, she relied on the holy protection granted by the sword and decided to first deal with Li Lin before using the holy fire to purify her "fallen and unclean" sister.

Her wings, tinged with crimson and golden light, flapped with the sound of sonic booms. Kayle, wielding her sacred blade, was surrounded by holy swords as she relentlessly pursued Li Lin.

Morgana, seeing this, bit her lip in concern for Li Lin and, despite her hesitation, followed after them, occasionally casting magic to harass Kayle from behind.

However, due to her long disuse of her wings and the lingering aversion in her heart, her flight speed could not match that of either Li Lin or Kayle, leaving her far behind.

"Oh~~ My foolish sister, you finally figured it out. Wings are meant for flying, aren't they?"

"Feet are for walking the earth!" Morgana retorted, trying to draw Kayle's attention.

Yet, Kayle ignored her meddling sister behind her, determined to kill Li Lin before he could prepare any further.

"Is your justice about slaughtering innocent people?" Li Lin shouted.

"Fallen ones cannot be forgiven, and those who conspire with them are guilty of even greater crimes." Kayle coldly snorted. "I believe I have made myself quite clear before."

Morgana's face darkened, still uncertain of what Li Lin was thinking, why he wasn't calling Zoe for backup. 

A human defeating a deity? 

How could that be possible?

But no matter what, she couldn't let Kayle kill Li Lin. If that happened, when Zoe returned, Kayle's life would be in danger.

As they continued to chase through the sky, Morgana threw out dark purple-black flames. The salty air rushed towards her as they passed, and in a blink, she realized they had flown far from the plains where the city of Demacia lay, reaching the skies above the Conqueror's Sea.

Li Lin was still running, occasionally launching powerful energy projectiles or devastating matter-dissolving cannons, but they were all unable to break through Kayle's defenses.

However, from the look of it, he seemed intent on drawing Kayle away from Demacia, and Morgana was satisfied with this. At least their battle wouldn't affect innocent people anymore.

With the three of them in hot pursuit, they soon reached a small temporary rest island near the port town of Vaskasia, located in the northwest of the Demacia Plains.

[Master, the warlord's megaton cannon has charged to its maximum.] 

At the prompt from the AI, Li Lin switched his interface to the Warlord on the Demacia Plains.

"Good, let's give her a warning shot!" 

After another teleport, Li Lin hovered in midair.

Kayle, seeing he had stopped running, immediately halted as well, maintaining a gap of about one kilometer between them.

"Are you ready to accept judgment?"

"I'm innocent; what judgment are you speaking of?"

"You foolish human, may the holy flames purify your sins." Kayle shook her head, deliberately speaking in a tone of regret.

She then raised her giant golden sword, now enveloped in purifying fire, and began to cast her magic.

At the same time, a similar flame surrounded Li Lin, but it was immediately blocked by a blue-white translucent energy shield surrounding him.

The battle armor continued to drain energy from its nanotech core, and the powerful shield held firm against the holy fire, the magical and physical energies clashing with no effect on the shield.

"Is this all you can do?" Li Lin taunted deliberately.

Kayle furrowed her brow and said nothing. Gripping the sword hilt with her right hand, she swung the giant sword forward, her arm straight.

Half of the holy swords circling around her dove into a portal she summoned, nearly reaching Li Lin in an instant.

Since the Starfire couldn't break your shield, then let the holy swords do the job!

Just then, Morgana arrived late, unable to hold back a cry of "Li Lin!"

But before she could shield him with magic, Kayle's holy sword pierced through the energy barrier Li Lin had formed.

However, the sword froze in midair as it made contact with the warrior mech, its blade trembling. Despite Kayle's magical efforts, it couldn't break through the nearly invisible "invisible barrier."

Forcefield Shield!

"What… what is this?!" Kayle exclaimed in shock, but Li Lin merely smiled.

"Too late."

"Too late…?" 

As Kayle puzzled over this, a far more devastating kinetic energy surged toward her from a distant direction. By the time it entered her perceptive range, it was already too late.

She barely had time to turn her head southeast, and within a heartbeat, the special shell fired from the warlord's megaton cannon had already arrived in front of her.

"Dammit!"

This was the same weapon Li Lin had used against Fiddlesticks!

Morgana, arriving just in time, couldn't help but curse, casting a shield on herself before being forced to fly backward, trying to put more distance between them.

Though this shell was not composed of energy, compared to the previous barrage of plasma shells, Li Lin's low-powered matter-dissolving cannon, and even Kayle's Holy Sword, were not on the same level at all.

Morgana could deeply sense that, even with her defensive measures, as long as she was within the blast radius of the shell—even at the edge—she would suffer significant damage.

Was this the method Li Lin meant to use to shatter Kayle's Divine Shield?

But he himself was within the explosion's range…

Could he possibly be planning to perish along with Kayle?

Almost instinctively, she felt an inexplicable pain within her heart.

She couldn't tell if it was for her sister Kayle, or for Li Lin, the only friend she had made in the hundreds of years of her aimless existence.

Morgana didn't know the full effect of Li Lin's force field shield. Her mind was in chaos. With a deafening "boom," a mushroom cloud rose into the sky, smoke, flames, and debris scattered everywhere. The entire world was blinding white with light, and even the island beneath their feet trembled from the shockwave.

Massive rocks slid down from the mountains and crashed into the howling ocean. The massive island cracked in several places, and the surging waters of the Conqueror's Sea flooded in, splitting the island into pieces.

Morgana instinctively raised her hand to shield her eyes from the light, trembling uncontrollably.

The figures of Li Lin and Kayle had been swallowed by the explosive heat and flames, vanishing without a trace.

It took a full thirty seconds before everything began to calm down.

With anxiety building, Morgana focused on the center of the explosion, her face filled with astonishment.

There, she saw Li Lin and Kayle still floating in the air, completely unharmed, as though nothing had happened at all.

The only difference was that Kayle was panting, looking a little exhausted, and the holy swords surrounding her were down by more than ten, with her golden shield, which had enveloped her, dimming considerably.

"You truly alarm me, mortal," Kayle said, her breathing easing slightly as the golden light in her eyes flickered violently. "But your attack is ineffective against me."

She pointed her sword toward the young man. "Today, you will not escape the righteous judgment!"

"Righteous?" Li Lin smirked, as he activated the plasma blades of his warrior mech and prepared his heat energy hammer. "Coming from your mouth, that sounds like nothing more than a hollow phrase."

Kayle's expression darkened, and she closed in on Li Lin, aiming to decapitate him with her sword.

From afar, Morgana quickly joined the battle, assisting Li Lin in fighting against her merciless sister.

With Li Lin's intervention, the tide of battle slowly started to shift in Morgana's favor.

Thanks to the quantum calculations from the AI, he could predict nearly all of Kayle's attack patterns and techniques, dodging each strike by the narrowest margin.

But after all, he was facing a divine being who had already wielded the power of the titans, transcending mortal limits, and the AI was still not fully upgraded.

At times, when an attack was unavoidable or when Kayle used her Purification Sword of Divine Judgment, Li Lin activated his energy shield or the force field shield, which had just finished its cooldown. The mech remained undamaged.

As the battle continued, Morgana found herself becoming increasingly alarmed.

She realized she could hardly keep up with the pace of the fight between Li Lin and Kayle, and was now almost an outsider in this battle.

What had originally been a struggle between two angelic sisters had transformed into an astonishing one-on-one duel between a mortal and a god.

Not only that, but despite the fierce battle, neither of them had been harmed!

Kayle had maximized her magical energy, continuously charging her Divine Shield, preventing Li Lin from breaking through.

Li Lin, on the other hand, had perfected his evasion, making it nearly impossible for Kayle to land a hit on him. Even when she did, strange energy barriers blocked her strikes.

Yet, they both seemed to enjoy the fight, determined to defeat each other.

Morgana didn't know what to say anymore.

The battle raged on, and before she knew it, an hour had passed.

Just as Morgana was idly watching, occasionally teasing her sister, Li Lin suddenly spoke up, his words filled with inexplicable excitement: "It's time."

Morgana and Kayle both felt a sense of unease.

"Morgana, get away from us!"

"Ah?"

"Don't just stand there!"

Kayle's previously subdued sense of unease suddenly flared up again, stronger than ever.

"What have you done?!" she demanded in a sharp voice.

"Made the preparations to defeat you."

Seeing that Morgana had distanced herself, Li Lin smirked and his nearly transparent force field shield reappeared around him.

[The space-based satellite is in position!]

[The cannon's trajectory has been adjusted!]

[All data calibrated!]

[Target locked: Righteous Angel Kayle.]

[The matter-disintegration laser, full power, fired!]

With the AI's neutral voice echoing in the mech, Kayle's breath hitched. A sudden, deadly threat from the sky made her entire body stiffen, her neck rigid as she instinctively looked up, her eyes widening in shock.

A ray of annihilation laser, so overwhelming that the sky itself seemed to lose its luster, descended from the heavens—like a divine punishment from the gods.

"Hahaha… Come and taste the satellite laser!" Li Lin laughed, but his voice was drowned out by the hum of the laser, capable of disintegrating matter at an atomic level.

Once again, he and Kayle vanished into the blinding white light.

This time, the result was entirely different from the massive cannon fired by the War Lord.
