Chapter 28: The message
Peter smirked while tilting his head slightly as he addressed Stryker. "You messed with the wrong place and... a wrong person."
Stryker's eyes widened and his mind began screaming for his body to move but he was powerless under Peter's control. Suddenly, his body moved—not by his own will but at Peter's command.
Stryker's hand slowly pulled his gun from its holster while trembling it was aimed at the nearest soldier. Panic filled his eyes as he realized what was about to happen.
Jean called out, "Peter!"
Peter with his back still facing her slightly turned his head to the right, revealing half of his face. "If you still feel the same way about me after seeing this, then I'll accept your proposal."
Jean's eyes widened in shock, unable to respond as Peter turned back to Stryker.
Without hesitation, Stryker began shooting. The first shot rang out. Then another. And another. each bullet is a precise headshot to his own soldiers.
The students watching from the mansion screamed, their horrified faces were visible behind the windows. Some quickly shut the blinds, but others continued to peek while frozen in fear and disbelief. More and more students gathered, drawn by the commotion.
Peter didn't care. He wanted them to see what he was capable of.
After Stryker killed every soldier, black tendrils emerged from Peter's back, slithering through the air like living shadows. Each tendril latched onto a soldier's lifeless body and began consuming it.
The sight was gruesome but Peter smirked in satisfaction while gleaming in his eyes as he turned to Stryker. The fear in the colonel's gaze was intoxicating.
Peter shifted his attention to Kurt who lay unconscious nearby.
Jean immediately stepped in front of Kurt with her arms spread protectively and she is looked at Peter warily.
Peter smiled softly. "Don't worry, Jean. I'm not going to hurt him."
She hesitated but after a moment, she stepped aside, deciding to believe him—for now.
A black tendril extended from Peter's arm, gently pressing against Kurt's chest. It began extracting DNA and a small amount of biomass.
> New Skills Acquired...
> Teleportation Acquired... Transformation Acquired...
Peter felt the new abilities take root within him. He now had the power to teleport, as well as the ability to mimic Kurt's appearance—blue skin, pointed ears, and a tail.
Peter turned back to Stryker, who stood frozen, his mind fracturing under the weight of what he'd witnessed.
With a sly smile, Peter addressed Jean. "I'm going to have a little chat with our new military friend here. You should take the others inside."
He pointed at the unconscious group—Hank, Raven, Maria, Alex, Pietro, Scott, Kurt, and Jubilee.
Jean hesitated but choose to ask him, "Where are you going?"
Peter replied calmly, "I'm going to send a message to some friends and get support to find the professor."
She looked at him and was torn between trust and fear but eventually nodded. "Be careful."
Peter gave her a reassuring smile before turning back to Stryker. Placing a firm hand on the colonel's shoulder, he whispered, "Let's clean out some experimental facilities and illegal factories funded by the government, shall we?"
Stryker's eyes widened further, but his body remained under Peter's control.
Peter continued, "Let's hope this makes them think twice about messing with this place. If not..." He smirked. "Well, I don't mind paying them a visit later."
Turning back to Jean one last time, Peter said, "I may be a monster in skin, Jean... but I need to rid of some of the monsters in mind so we can live peacefully. I hope you understand."
With that, he and Stryker vanished in a swirl of mist that slowly dissipated, leaving Jean to stare at the empty spot where they had been.
She turned to the unconscious group with a heavy heart she used her telekinesis to move the bodies inside the mansion.

**Alkali Lake facility, Alberta, Canada**
Peter materialized inside the infamous Alkali Lake facility in Alberta, Canada - the secret military complex where the Weapon X program conducted their brutal experiments.
The sprawling underground base, hidden beneath the massive dam, housed some of the government's darkest secrets.
This was the very place where Logan had been subjected to the horrific Weapon X experiment.
Stryker's body under Peter's control moved methodically as Peter directed him to kill every soldier and scientist within the facility.
Peter's telepathic abilities held everyone in place, rendering them immobile.
With cold efficiency, Stryker began the systematic execution of the facility's personnel. Everyone one of them were headshoted which ensured each death was quick and painless - more mercy than many of them deserved given their willing participation in human experimentation.
Before their deaths, Peter extracted crucial intelligence from the scientists' minds about other black sites and facilities conducting mutant experiments and the data they obtained. Each location was carefully cataloged in his mind for future cleansing.
Finally, Peter guided Stryker to the reinforced containment chamber housing their prime subject - Logan.
Stryker who is still under Peter's control but conscious of his actions had a look of grim acceptance on his face. He knew his death was imminent and welcomed it, tired of being used as a puppet.
"Consider this a peaceful end, Stryker," Peter said coldly. "Given your crimes against mutantkind, I had far worse planned. But time is short, so we'll conclude this quickly."
Under Peter's mental command, Stryker input the security codes to unlock Logan's adamantium-reinforced containment unit. The heavy doors slid open with a hydraulic hiss, revealing the legendary Weapon X himself. Logan was barely recognizable, his head fitted with a cruel control apparatus and his body pierced with dozens of monitoring cables and injection lines.
As soon as he saw Stryker, he let out an animalistic roar, three razor-sharp adamantium claws erupted from each hand. In a blur of motion, Logan launched himself at his tormentor, separating Stryker's head from his shoulders in one savage swipe.
Still running hot with killing intent, Logan whirled toward Peter with a feral growl, only to find himself completely immobilized by Peter's telekinetic grip.
"Easy there, big guy," Peter said while approaching the frozen Wolverine. Black tendrils extended from Peter's hand and began making contact with Logan's flesh. "I'm here to help, but I need something from you first."
As Logan struggled futilely against the paralysis, Peter began absorbing and analyzing samples of Logan's cellular structure. The Great Sage's voice echoed in Peter's mind, cataloging the abilities being assimilated:
> New skills acquired...
> Regenerative Healing Factor acquired... Acute Senses acquired... Retractable Bone Claws acquired... Animal Empathy acquired...
Peter continued the careful extraction process, knowing that Logan's remarkable healing factor would instantly regenerate any tissue taken.
As a final gift, Peter used his powers to unlock Logan's suppressed memories, restoring clarity to the warrior's fractured mind.
"Consider it a fair trade," Peter said while releasing his hold. "You've given me new abilities, I've given you back your past."
Logan staggered back and was momentarily disoriented before glancing at Peter one last time. Without a word, Logan turned and bolted out of the facility, disappearing into the wilderness.
Peter surveyed the room while retracting his black tendrils.
Soon, Great sage voice is heard again:
> Multiple skills can be merged.... Initiating trigger for the merge....
> Successful... Merging skills.... Enhanced regeneration and Regenerative Healing Factor... Successful...
> New skills acquired: Ultraspeed Regeneration: The ability to regenerate from almost any injury done to the body.
He smirked and began systematically dismantling the facility. Guns, helicopters, adamantium and experimental equipment were absorbed into the stomach of Predator.
All research data was copied and secured. Bodies were completely consumed, leaving no evidence behind. Security footage was erased, eliminating any record of the today's events.
Once Alkali Lake was thoroughly purged, Peter teleported to the next location—a covert lab in United States. The process was the same: infiltrate, eliminate, and dismantle. Each facility held mutants in varying stages of experimentation. Peter freed those who could still be saved and began teleporting them to Charles's mansion.
One by one, the facilities fell.

**Inside the mansion of Xavier's school for gifted**
The group gradually regained consciousness while groaning and holding their heads as they sat up. Jean stood nearby with a pale face and was hesitant to speak.
"What… happened?" Raven asked in confusion.
Jean hesitated, "Peter stopped Stryker and his soldiers," she began choosing her next words carefully. "But… he did it in a way none of us could have imagined."
As she recounted what had transpired, the weight of the events hung heavily in the air. The students, peeking through the windows during the ordeal, chimed in with what they had seen: Peter controlling Stryker, forcing him to kill his own men, and then devouring the bodies with black tendrils.
Scott's face hardened as the details sank in. "You're saying he killed them all? In cold blood?"
"He saved us," Jean countered with her voice rising defensively. "If Peter hadn't acted, Stryker would've taken us and the school—"
"I don't care!" Alex shouted while cutting her off. "We don't solve problems by becoming monsters! Hank, we can't let someone like him stay here. He has to go!"
Raven remained silent while processing the information. Maria who is still in shock, leaned against a wall while trying to reconcile what she'd heard.
Kurt and Jubilee exchanged uneasy glances, unable to fathom the idea of their friend committing such atrocities.
Before the argument could escalate further, a commotion erupted in the main hall.
Hank, Alex, Raven, and the others hurried to the source of the noise, only to find dozens of injured mutants materializing in the center of the mansion in flashes of black smoke. Some were bleeding, others unconscious, and all bore the marks of experimentation or violence.
Raven quickly moved to help and began rallying the students to provide first aid and comfort.
Hank, Jean, and Alex guided the newcomers to beds and couches with a mix of concern and confusion.
Maria and Jubilee helped distribute medical supplies, while Scott and Kurt assisted with the more severely injured.
Pietro who is awfully silent went into work immediately and help everyone get medical treatment in a second.
Amidst the chaos, one of the least-injured mutants explained, "We were in a facility… trapped. Then a man came. He called himself Peter. He teleported us here, saying it was safe."
The group exchanged stunned looks. More mutants continued to appear, each with a similar story. Peter was systematically rescuing them and sending the freed mutants to the mansion.
The sheer scope of Peter's actions left everyone speechless. While the rescued mutants viewed him as a savior, Hank, Raven, and Alex couldn't ignore the implications.
Alex finally broke the silence. "This isn't just about saving them. He's killing everyone in those facilities—humans, soldiers, scientists. He's no different from Erik when he was at his worst. If we don't stop him now, he might not stop until every human is dead."
Jean's expression darkened. "Peter isn't like that. He's doing this to protect us."
"Is he?" Alex challenged. "Or is he just using his power as an excuse to justify his actions?"
The group gathered in one of the mansion's meeting rooms. Hank, Raven, Alex, Scott, Pietro, Kurt, and Jean sat in the room while debating their next move.
"We need to save Charles," Raven said firmly. "But we also need to figure out how to handle Peter before it's too late."
Jean clenched her fists. "He's not our enemy."
"He's walking a very thin line, Jean" Hank replied. "And if he crosses it, there's no going back."
Before anyone could respond, a familiar voice interrupted. "Hello there."
Peter stood in the corner of the room with a smirk on his face as if he had been there the entire time. The group tensed and some rising to their feet instinctively.
"How long have you been standing there?" Scott demanded.
"Long enough to hear your concerns," Peter said casually with his hands in his pockets. "I'd say I'm flattered, but that wouldn't be entirely true."
"Explain yourself," Alex growled while stepping forward. "What gives you the right to play judge, jury, and executioner?"
Peter's smirk faded and turned serious. "What gives them the right to torture, experiment on, and kill mutants? What gives them the right to invade this mansion? I'm simply making sure they can never do it again."
"That's not how we do things," Hank interjected. "We fight for coexistence, not domination."
Peter's eyes locked with Hank's, "Coexistence isn't possible with people like Stryker in power. I'm not fighting for domination—I'm fighting to protect my life and ensure no trouble comes to my house like it did today."
Jean stepped forward while placing a hand on Peter's arm. "Peter, I understand why you're doing this, but you're scaring us."
Peter's expression softened, "I am doing what I think is right Jean. As long as good guys, refused to fight, the bad ones rule. I am not doing any of this to make any point. I just wanted to live peacefully, so I erased the trouble that may come here in the future and send a message so that no one will dare try to do something like this again."
The group was silent after hearing this as Peter continued, "Okay, let's set this matter aside for now. We have to save Charles before that mutant does something worst to him."
Alex said, " Don't worry. We can save him without your help. We just need to know where he is."
Suddenly Charles voice is heard in the mind of every one on this planet, "Hear me, inhabitants of this world. This is the message."
Scott asked, "What is this?"
Raven said while looking at Hank, "It's the message form the guy who took Charles.... He's using Charles to speak to us."
Charles voice continued, " A message to everyone man, woman and mutant. You have lost your way. But I have returned."
Everyone in the world stopped what they're doing and began to listen to the voice in their heads.
Charles who is seated on a rock infront of Apocalypse continued," The day of reckoning is here. Everything you've built will fall."
It was translated to every language and echoed though the minds of people.
"A New age will rise, there is nothing you can do to stop it."
Charles voice is heard in Jean's mind, " Jean... hear me... Find us.... Cairo... Find us Jean."
"This message is for one reason alone, to tell the strongest among you,"
Apocalypse continued, "Those with greatest power, this earth will be yours."
But Charles changed the message, "Those with greatest power... protect those without."
Charles looked at Apocalypse and said, " That is my message to the world."
Then the message stopped as Peter looked at every one here, "Do you still not want my help?"
