As Homelander approached, both Mackie and Norvan felt an intense difficulty in breathing, as though the air in the office had suddenly thickened.
Their senses dulled, and they could no longer hear any sound from outside the office.
Heartbeats quickened, and cold sweat dripped freely.
At this moment, Homelander stood directly in front of Norvan.
Golden light flickered in his eyes.
"Do you know?"
"If I didn't find this world more entertaining when it's bustling, you, everyone here, this city, and even this country would cease to exist."
"So, you should praise my mercy and tell me whose idea this was."
"Remember, you only get one chance."
Homelander extended a hand, gently lifting Norvan's badge, and smiled faintly.
Norvan's Adam's apple bobbed as his clenched teeth trembled slightly. "This was our bureau director's idea—Ms. Jenny Clement. She believed this method would help you familiarize yourself with some of the Defense Department's workflows."
Homelander let out a chuckle. "Then should I thank her for that?"
He then turned to Mackie. "Could you take me to meet Ms. Jenny?"
Mackie finally found his voice. "Of course, of course."
In no time, Homelander, with his hands behind his back, walked out of the elevator alongside Mackie and arrived at the entrance of the Contract Management Bureau's director's office.
The office door was closed, and the secretary outside stood up. "What brings you here?"
She couldn't help but glance repeatedly at Homelander, trying to hide the laughter in her eyes, though Homelander easily discerned the subtle changes in her body.
Homelander drew a conclusion.
She wanted to throw herself into his arms!
Mackie cleared his throat. "Homelander wishes to meet Director Jenny."
The beautiful secretary finally snapped out of Homelander's charm, shaking her head. "I'm sorry, Homelander."
"Ms. Jenny is currently meeting with an important guest and is unavailable."
Homelander smiled. "No, she is."
His eyes glowed.
Inside the office, two women were seated in the reception area.
Jenny Clement, a Black woman in her early forties with a buzzcut, appeared competent and professional.
Her guest was a strikingly beautiful woman in her early thirties with well-defined features.
"Victoria, I will support you. As you said, integrating superhumans into the national system is a highly dangerous matter."
The bureau director had just finished speaking when a golden dot appeared on the office wall.
The dot moved in a path, sketching out a rectangle. A section of the wall was then cut and fell with a loud crash, kicking up dust and startling the two women.
They then saw a man in a black combat suit, draped in a red cape, with dazzling blonde hair and a warm, smiling face walk in.
Homelander!
The Black director immediately stood up. "What's going on?"
"Homelander, what are you trying to do?"
Homelander's gaze, however, fell on the beautiful woman seated on the couch. He naturally recognized her as Victoria Neuman, the superhuman congresswoman in The Boys universe, capable of making people's heads explode.
Ignoring the Black director, Homelander walked toward Victoria Neuman.
The congresswoman instinctively wanted to stand, but Homelander said, "Stay seated."
Then, she saw the smiling man's eyes light up with golden points, his gaze becoming almost tangible.
Victoria could feel two burning points moving across her face, down to her chest, and further downward.
She understood that this was Homelander's warning.
If he wished, she would already have been split in two.
Homelander, hands behind his back, approached Victoria Neuman, leaning slightly forward and whispering in her ear.
"I know who you are."
"So, Edgar is dead. Are you afraid?"
"You should be afraid."
"You should fear me and try to please me."
"Not sit here with a Black old lady plotting against me."
"Well, Victoria, would you like to try a little 'brainstorm' with me?"
Victoria didn't dare take a single breath, much less attempt to use her superpowers on Homelander.
Even the "Compound-V Neutralizer" couldn't kill Homelander.
She had no reason to believe her abilities could.
Homelander was right. With Edgar's death, she was indeed afraid.
Afraid that Homelander would clean out Edgar's forces, which would put her name on the blacklist.
Thus, she had used her status to connect with officials who shared her hostility toward superhumans, trying to save herself.
But she hadn't expected to encounter Homelander here.
After a moment, Victoria softly said, "Tonight at my house."
Homelander paused, then realized what she meant and chuckled.
"No, no, Victoria, that's not the kind of 'pleasing' I was referring to."
"Though you are my type, and I wouldn't mind tasting you."
"But for now, I'm busy."
Victoria looked at him. "Then what do you want me to do?"
Homelander leaned closer to her ear, eyeing her full, round earlobe, and whispered, "Stormfront."
"You must know her."
"Find her."
"And I'll let you and your daughter go."
Victoria's body trembled slightly. She then stood, turned to the Black director, and said, "Sorry, Director Jenny, I have something to attend to."
The Black director immediately said, "Victoria, there's no need to be afraid. This is the Defense Department. No one would dare act recklessly here!"
As she spoke, Homelander walked to the director's desk and picked up a picture frame.
Inside was a photo of Jenny and her son.
"What are you doing? Put that down."
The Black director walked over, looking at Homelander with her brows furrowed, exuding an imposing aura.
Victoria seized this opportunity to leave, fearing that Homelander might change his mind.
"It's like this."
Homelander put down the photo frame and smiled at the director.
"My office is too empty, which I find a bit unsettling."
"I hope that the next time I come, it won't be in its current state."
"Additionally, since we're just getting acquainted, I'll forgive you this time, ma'am."
Homelander smiled at the Black director. "Please, don't let it happen again."
"You wouldn't want to see me angry."
Having said this, Homelander, hands behind his back, opened the office door and left.
At that moment, the photo frame on Jenny's desk suddenly made a cracking sound as its glass fractured into shards.
The Black director looked at the ruined office and clenched her fists.
Just you wait!
Damn Homelander!
When the project "Super Soldier" developed by Dr. Vogelbaum and Dr. Kyle is complete...
That will be your end.
