As Homelander In Multiverse

Chapter 94: Chapter 94: No One is Irreplaceable, Except Me

Edgar trembled all over and then said, "No, no, no. No one understands managing Vought better than I do. I am irreplaceable."

Homelander gently patted his shoulder. "No one is irreplaceable, except me."

"As for Vought, if it ever goes under, there can only be one reason—that I left."

"In other words, as long as I'm here, even a pig could keep the company profitable. Don't you agree?"

Edgar's body shook again.

What Homelander said was not entirely impossible.

This man was about to become a government official in the Department of Defense, complete with a military rank.

Anyone with eyes could see that the rank of Colonel was not the end but merely the beginning for him.

In the future, Homelander could very well be a General, maybe even a Five-Star General.

With such immense power, he wouldn't have to do anything—just having his name associated with Vought would ensure its success. Moreover, countless elites from various fields would flock to the company to assist him.

Homelander smiled. "Now, do you understand?"

"I didn't kill you before because you're familiar with the company's operations. I kept you around to make money for me."

"But now..."

Edgar's whole body trembled as he cried out, "No! You can't kill me!"

"If you kill me, you'll never see your son again!"

Homelander froze for a moment, then remembered that in the original storyline, he did have a son—a child born with the wife of that bearded man. That child, it seemed, was a natural-born superhuman.

Even in the womb, he had already displayed extraordinary abilities.

Seeing Homelander's momentary hesitation, Edgar assumed he was stunned by the revelation of having a child.

An opportunity!

The Black CEO's heart leapt with joy, and he quickly said, "Remember Becca?"

"She was an employee in the Seven Tower eight years ago. She seduced you and had a relationship with you."

Homelander snapped back to attention, a sly smile appearing on his face. "Oh, wasn't she missing? Maybe even dead?"

Edgar, regaining the upper hand, smiled. "No, she's not dead."

"I hid her. Her existence would have been a scandal for the company."

Homelander chuckled. "When did we start solving scandals by hiding the main players instead of killing them?"

"Was it because of the child in her womb?"

"Because that child has my genes and is a natural-born superhuman?"

"You were planning to raise him to oppose me?"

"Am I right?"

Edgar was dumbfounded, silently cursing this monster for guessing everything correctly.

On the surface, however, he said, "I just thought Becca and your child would be better off living where no one knows them."

"That place, only I know."

"If you kill me, you'll never see your child again."

"So, why not spare me?"

Homelander smiled as he cupped the old man's face in his hands. "That place... only you know it?"

Edgar felt increasingly confident. "Of course. I relocate them every year. Only I know this."

Hmm, that's a bit different from the original story.

But no matter.

Homelander's eyes began to glow with golden light. "In that case, that's perfect."

"Let the mother and son live in peace forever."

"As for you..."

"Mr. Edgar, goodbye."

Two golden beams shot out from his eyes, piercing Edgar's. The high-temperature rays instantly melted his eyeballs, leaving two black holes in his skull.

When Homelander let go, Edgar's lifeless body fell to the ground.

Behind him, David stumbled backward, his teeth chattering. Homelander turned to him, smiling warmly.

"Mr. David, do you know why Edgar died?"

David's face twitched nervously. Knowing his life was on the line, he quickly replied, "I know, sir."

"Because he wanted to harm you."

Homelander crouched down, patting the fat man's face. "You're absolutely right, dear Mr. David."

"I didn't expect you to be a genius. Inventing the 'Compound Blocker'—such a powerful thing that almost cost me my life."

David hurriedly said, "It wasn't my idea, sir. It was Edgar's order. I—"

"I know."

"I know it wasn't your fault," Homelander said approvingly, then smiled. "I just want to ask, Mr. David, would you ever harm me?"

David shook his head frantically. "I would never, Homelander."

"I admire you from the bottom of my heart!"

"Do you?" Homelander patted his shoulder. "Then tell me, who else knows the formula for the Blocker?"

David replied, "Only me, sir."

"It's confidential. Edgar didn't want too many people to know, so I handled everything from development to production alone."

Homelander asked, "How many finished Blockers are there?"

"And where is all the data stored?"

Moments later, in a warehouse, David pointed to a pile of items in front of them. "It's all here, sir."

"The last two Blocker samples, all the equipment used to make them, and the computer storing the data."

"Everything is here."

Homelander glanced at the fat man. "Are you sure?"

David nodded rapidly like a chicken pecking at grain. "I'm sure, sir."

"Good."

Homelander's eyes shot out golden beams, cutting through the pile and setting it ablaze.

Flames roared, filling the warehouse with heat. Sweat began to drip from David's forehead.

He wiped his brow and said, "Sir, may I continue serving you?"

Homelander turned, flashing a smile. "Of course, Mr. David."

"Would you do me a favor and die?"

David froze, unable to react before a golden light filled his vision.

Then, he lost consciousness.

The heat vision sliced through his skull, splitting his genius brain in two. Watching the fat man's body collapse, Homelander placed his hands on his hips, exhaling.

"Accomplices must also pay the price, Mr. David."

"Hopefully, in heaven, you'll understand this."

Looking at the bodies and the flames, Homelander muttered, "The Blocker is gone. Edgar and his accomplice are dead."

"Next..."

Homelander chuckled, shaking his head. "The Invisible Man, I hope you're hiding well enough. Don't let me find you."

"And as for Stormfront..."

"An eighty-year-old hag shouldn't embarrass herself."

With that, Homelander shot into the sky, breaking through the warehouse roof and disappearing into the heavens.
