As expected, the Invisible Man was hiding in an abandoned store seven kilometers away from the Nightfall Motel.

The store, once a roadside convenience shop, had long been deserted. He planned to wait there until nightfall before slipping away under the cover of darkness.

He didn't dare use any vehicles, fearing the interstate's surveillance cameras might capture footage of a driverless car, exposing his location.

Suddenly, a deafening explosion echoed in the distance. Flames shot up into the sky, their glow visible even from where he hid.

Moments later, another golden beam of light slashed down from the sky, triggering another violent explosion.

The shockwave rattled the store's windows, sending dust and loose debris cascading from the ceiling.

The Invisible Man's scalp tingled with fear.

"He's here!"

"Homelander really came!"

Desperation clawed at his chest as he realized Homelander was methodically destroying buildings, forcing him out into the open.

"It's fine. I'll be fine," he muttered, trying to reassure himself. "My skin is made of carbon super-material. Even if his laser hits me, I won't die."

For a moment, he considered hiding in a refrigerator but quickly abandoned the idea.

"No, even if I survive, that demon can just scan and find me!"

Weighing his options, he decided it was safer to leave.

High Above the Interstate

Homelander glided through the air, scanning each building one by one based on Annika's intel.

If a structure was empty, he obliterated it with Heat Vision. The upgraded Mega Explosion feature made each beam as devastating as a missile strike.

Entire warehouses and shacks crumbled effortlessly under his precision attacks, turning into smoldering ruins.

And this wasn't even full power. Homelander chuckled to himself—if he went all out, the shockwaves alone could level New York.

After obliterating yet another structure, he surveyed the destruction below. Fires burned across the landscape, smoke billowing into the sky.

Amidst the chaos, the distant roar of a car engine reached his ears.

"Found you."

With a smirk, Homelander shot forward, easily catching up to the speeding car.

On the Interstate

The car swerved wildly as it sped down the highway.

Behind the wheel, a young woman clutched the steering wheel, her knuckles white with fear. Beside her, completely naked, sat the Invisible Man.

"Keep driving!" he barked. "If you stop, we're both dead!"

Homelander landed on the road ahead, forcing the car to screech to a halt.

Hovering slightly above the ground, he crossed his arms and gazed at the vehicle. "Tch. A true degenerate."

Inside, the Invisible Man panicked. "Move, Homelander!" he shouted, holding a blade to the girl's throat. "If you care about this girl's life, let us go!"

Homelander's eyes glowed ominously.

Two golden beams shot out, slicing cleanly through the car and severing it in half. Sparks flew as the gas tank ignited, triggering a massive explosion.

BOOM!

The Invisible Man was flung from the wreckage, tumbling across the pavement until he finally came to a stop, coughing and dazed.

"That damn monster!" he wheezed. "He doesn't care about hostages!"

Moments earlier, realizing he couldn't shake Homelander, he had stopped at a nearby gas station and taken the girl hostage, hoping to use her as leverage.

But Homelander had called his bluff, blasting the car apart without hesitation.

The Invisible Man struggled to his feet, only to hear a faint whoosh behind him. He turned to see Homelander descending from the sky, cradling the unconscious girl in his arms.

"She's fine," Homelander said, gently placing the girl on a patch of grass. "Unlike you, I don't leave innocents to die."

Straightening up, he turned toward the Invisible Man with a mocking smile. "You'd better make yourself invisible again. Your current appearance is... indecent."

The Invisible Man vanished into thin air and bolted to the left. But before he could take more than a few steps, a searing golden beam struck him, sending him sprawling onto the ground.

Revealed once more, he raised his hands in surrender. "I-I give up! Please, Homelander, it wasn't my idea!"

Homelander strolled toward him, calm yet menacing. "Oh? So you know why I'm here."

"Tell me, how long have you known about Edgar's plan? You were supposed to monitor him and report back to me. Care to explain why that didn't happen?"

The Invisible Man stammered, "Edgar—he found out I was watching him! I had no idea about the inhibitor or the plan to kill you!"

Homelander tilted his head, unimpressed. "Do you really expect me to believe that?"

"If you didn't know, then what are you doing here in Florida?"

The Invisible Man froze, unable to answer.

Homelander clapped his hands mockingly. "Thought so. No need to waste time on excuses."

"You betrayed me. And there's only one thing I do to traitors."

"Wait!" the Invisible Man screamed, his voice rising in desperation. "You think I wanted this? You forced my hand!"

"Look at what you did to the Deep! All he did was report to Edgar, and you killed him without hesitation!"

"How could I not be terrified that one day you'd do the same to me?"

Homelander's lips curled into a chilling smile. "Ah, so you were scared. Makes sense. I'd probably do the same in your position."

The Invisible Man blinked in surprise. "S-So... does that mean you'll forgive me?"

Homelander chuckled softly. "Forgive you? Oh no, you misunderstood."

"You're right—fear drove you. But betrayal is betrayal."

"And there's only one way I deal with traitors."

His smile vanished, replaced by a cold, murderous glare.

"Die."

The Invisible Man trembled, his voice shaking. "Go ahead, Homelander. But don't forget—my skin is stronger than diamond! Your lasers can't kill me!"
