Chapter 28: Chapter 28: A Photo! The Black Stewed Egg Can’t Sit Still! Must Find Him!
Lance didn't know his absorption limit.
His Energy Absorption ability, strengthened a thousand times, gave him confidence—but even he wasn't sure where the upper boundary lay.
Although technically only developed to level 2, the strengthening pushed its potential far beyond what normal abilities could achieve. It was likely equivalent to level 5—or more.
That was why Lance didn't just come to the sun to melt the metal cube.
He also came to test the true extent of his powers.
"The temperature here is still too low. I need to go deeper."
Lance hovered near the sun's surface, absorbing the solar energy and basking in the light.
But he wasn't satisfied.
He pushed forward, descending closer to the corona.
The corona's temperature shot up to 1 million degrees Celsius—a massive leap from the 5,500 degrees at the surface.
It was almost incomprehensible how the temperature spiked so drastically, but Lance wasn't worried.
What did concern him was the metal cube he brought.
While his body could handle the heat, the metal's melting point was only 500,000 degrees.
If he went any deeper, the cube might not just melt—it could be vaporized.
"This is far enough."
Stopping at the corona, Lance examined the metal cube.
It was already glowing bright red, softening quickly under the heat.
Lance smirked.
Holding the cube, he began shaping it with his enhanced strength, molding it like clay.
The intense heat combined with his energy-enhanced muscles made short work of the task.
"Squeeze a wristband," Lance muttered as he shaped the metal.
There wasn't enough material to form something as large as an arm guard, but a wristband was doable.
Looks didn't matter. He could refine the design later using his cross-dressing ability.
For now, functionality was key.
In just over a minute, the molten cube had become a crude wristband.
Lance slipped it onto his arm and tightened it for a snug fit.
"Perfect."
With a thought, he activated his cross-dressing ability.
The wristband transformed instantly.
Molten-red threads spread across his body, weaving themselves into a sleek, futuristic battle suit.
Despite the glowing heat, Lance felt nothing but comfort—like slipping into warm clothes fresh out of the dryer.
"Not bad," he said, admiring the design.
Satisfied, Lance prepared to leave.
Meanwhile – Earth
Nick Fury rubbed his one good eye, convinced he had misread the message.
"What did you just say?"
Hill's voice repeated calmly through the line.
"We detected an unusual energy signature… on the surface of the sun."
Nick Fury slammed on the brakes.
His car skidded to a halt in the middle of the road.
"Say that again."
"It's confirmed, sir. The satellite captured an image. I sent it to your phone."
Fury snatched his phone and opened the image.
The second he saw it, his mind went blank.
The photo showed a human figure—standing on the surface of the sun.
"Impossible…"
He zoomed in, but the figure's face was covered by a mask.
Still, Fury couldn't deny it. That was a person.
A person standing on the damn sun.
"Who the hell is this?!"
Only a handful of beings came to mind.
Captain Marvel? She could survive space travel, but she wasn't around.
Thor? It wasn't him either—this figure was clearly human, not Asgardian.
None of the known Avengers matched.
"Who is this guy?" Fury muttered.
His mind raced. Was this an alien? An Inhuman? Or some kind of superpowered mutant?
Most importantly—was this person a friend or foe?
Hill's voice interrupted his thoughts.
"What's the plan, sir?"
Fury didn't hesitate.
"Track him. I want his location pinned down the moment he reappears!"
"What if he's hostile?" Hill asked.
Fury gritted his teeth.
"Then we need to find out—before it's too late."
He spun the car around, speeding back to headquarters.
Back on the Sun
Lance stood amidst the searing plasma, unaware that S.H.I.E.L.D.'s satellites had captured his image.
His body radiated absorbed energy, glowing faintly against the blinding light of the sun.
"Not bad," he said, flexing his fingers.
He felt stronger than ever, charged by the sheer magnitude of the sun's energy.
"I could get used to this."
Still, it was time to head back.
Lance vanished, teleporting instantly out of the sun's heat and reappearing back on Earth.
Earth – S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters
Hill watched the monitors closely.
"Sir, we lost the target!"
Fury clenched his fists.
"Find him! I don't care how much it costs—find out who this guy is!"
Hill nodded, already mobilizing S.H.I.E.L.D.'s resources.
Fury stared at the frozen image on the screen—the masked figure on the sun—and muttered under his breath.
"No one walks on the sun and disappears without answers."
