Chapter 42
Chapter 42: Giving You a 20% Profit
Mr. Ji was a witty and knowledgeable person, skilled at controlling the atmosphere at the dining table, making Fang Jian feel right at home.
After three drinks, Mr. Ji smiled and said, “Oh, I suddenly remembered something that needs my attention. Please stay seated. I’ll be right back.”
Chen Tao, only realizing belatedly, followed him out.
Fang Jian silently covered his face and mourned for this old classmate. Well, hopefully, he can smoothly get by in this company. As for promotions and salary increases, it’s best not to have high hopes.
After they left, Hu Bin smiled and picked up his wine glass. Although they had already toasted each other at the table, it felt different this time.
“Mr. Fang, it’s a bit presumptuous for me to invite you here today,” Hu Bin said politely.
Fang Jian smiled faintly and asked, “No problem. What instructions does General Hu have?”
Hu Bin chuckled lightly and said, “I heard from a friend that you recently received two batches of goods at the port, namely metallic chromium powder and electrolytic nickel.”
Fang Jian nodded repeatedly and said, “Yes.”
“I checked and found that the selling price of Mr. Fang’s goods was a bit low,” Hu Bin remarked.
Fang Jian curled his lips; it was more than just a bit low—it was a quarter of the price. These profits amounted to billions of dollars.
Hu Bin continued, “Mr. Fang, it’s remarkable that you can find such inexpensive sources overseas.”
Fang Jian chuckled and said, “No problem, friends helping each other, just making a living.”
Shaking his head, Hu Bin said, “However, your pricing strategy in China is quite unfavorable.”
“Oh?” Fang Jian smiled ambiguously. “How am I losing out?”
“The selling price you set in China is only three-quarters of the market price,” Hu Bin’s eyes flickered with a hint of shrewdness. “Mr. Fang, I have a proposal for you to consider seriously.”
“Go ahead, tell me,” Fang Jian said.
Hu Bin smiled and said eagerly, “Let’s work together. You’ll be responsible for sourcing goods overseas, and I’ll handle the domestic sales. How does that sound?”
Although Hu Bin had established an import and export company in Yongcheng with an annual turnover of over a billion dollars, he knew the reality behind it. The reason he succeeded in business was undoubtedly due to someone giving him an advantage. Fang Jian happened to be his unexpected find. If he could control this batch of inexpensive goods…
Hu Bin’s excitement immediately surged. It seemed like he could envision the day when he would stand out and dominate the business world, comparable to the success of others.
A faint smile appeared on Fang Jian’s face as he asked, “Why should I hand over the domestic sales to you?”
Hu Bin was shocked, quickly snapping out of his pleasant daydream. He furrowed his brow and said, “I promise, as long as you entrust the domestic sales to me, I will offer you a price not lower than the last time and provide you with a 10% profit as a bonus.”
Fang Jian blinked twice and asked, “10%?”
“Yes, for these two transactions alone, the bonus would be at least tens of millions,” Hu Bin said slowly.
Fang Jian laughed, saying, “Tens of millions in bonuses sound quite appealing. But what if I don’t agree?”
Hu Bin furrowed his brow and said, “Mr. Fang, your goods can only be sold after entering the port. If they stay at the port for an extra day, the losses would be at least several hundred thousand.”
Fang Jian smiled without saying a word and said, “I’m only responsible for making connections. It’s pointless for you to tell me this.”
Hu Bin’s face darkened slightly as he said, “Mr. Fang, your parents both work in government offices…”
Fang Jian sneered, and his expression gradually turned cold.
After a moment, Fang Jian stood up and said, “Sorry, but you’ve got the wrong person.”
Hu Bin suddenly said, “Mr. Fang, I came here with sincerity. If you think the conditions aren’t suitable, we can continue negotiating. How about you keeping 20% of the profits?”
The corners of Fang Jian’s mouth slightly curled up with a hint of disdain.
Hu Bin sighed and said, “Mr. Fang, don’t think I’m trying to take advantage. You can also purchase goods from another port. But no matter where you go, people will come looking for you. And they will take everything, including your channels, without leaving anything behind.”
He pointed to himself and said, “You are from Yongcheng, so I can decide to give you 20%. Think about it carefully.”
After a while, Fang Jian silently looked at him and said, “Alright, I’ll discuss it with my friends, and we’ll talk again in a few days. Goodbye.”
As Fang Jian walked away, a smug and confident smile flashed across Hu Bin’s face.
