Chapter 210: Subsequent Fall Part 48: Ping
The door of the bridge slammed open as James and Angel slammed through. Airsoft was running way behind as Astrid and Zeta followed behind the twins. Jaimie peeked her head up as her and May were playing a board game. Adam looked over as Astral was staring at the planet still.
"How was the planet?" Astral asked them softly as he turned around and held out his arms for the two of them as they wrapped themselves in them. Their quiet sobs were all that was needed for him to realize what the planet was. Airsoft was gassed at the door as Astrid hooked up Zeta to the television, replaying the conversation as Achilles walked in.
"Oh so everyone is pissed at us?" Adam looked at the screen turned to white due to the flash of light from Astral. "We are already outputting at max production, the spare supplies going to the milky way."
"Well is there any way to output more?" Jaimie paused the board game as the three of them surrounded the table.
"We would need to make the Peons work overtime and have each factory line produce at double speed, the robots would need to be reprogrammed for the increased speed, but the problem becomes the ground forces." Astral circled the cloning facility as it was at capacity. "Depending on how long we have, we don't have much more that we could produce."
"That shouldn't be the key worry." Adam pointed to the various battles where the clones were outnumbered one hundred to one and were winning. "They are super soldiers, we need more high level fighters in case of more powerful people attacking. I probably am going to be stuck up here. Achilles is great, but its everyone on the bridge."
"I have thought of it, but no promises." Astral let it slowly fall together like a large card pyramid. "We captured Josey? We need him to be on our side, how has the process been?" Astral summoned Alexa.
"He is willing to cooperate for the right price, a great general to have on hand." Alexa also pointed to the civilian sector. "Ask for volunteers across all waves. Every hand to save the ship, let alone Cali."
"NO!" Adam, Astral and Jaimie shouted at the same time.
"Cali is a fallback due to the items he has. He can lead and he has the talent to unite the station if need be." Astral pointed to the core.
"Volunteers are great and we could easily utilize their help, but once we evacuate the civilian sector would it mean much for them to stay behind?" Adam asked.
"They aren't fed propaganda to be willing to lay down their life, they think all has been peaceful despite the wars we have had. Let alone what we actually have done for them." Jaimie looked at the civilian sector as Murphy hovered in it. "We have given them so much freedom of creativity, that very few are as talented as the Dogpound or Achilles' forces."
"THATS IT!" Astral hopped up. "We keep storing everything that overflows into the milky way, we tell the humans on board that's where we are, they will fight for earth still." Astral looked at the milky way planets. "Plus the peons, and the other planets, evacuate the woman and children to the milky way and let every person who volunteers fight for us from there. Let alone Ally, Pollen and Lucky!"
"Would Hephaen be able to fight?" Adam asked as James and Angel joined the table.
"No, he is working constantly giving all the standard equipment upgrades and adding to the special class of items." Astral showed the inside view. It had Hephaen working on many goods.
"What about Lone?" Adam asked as Lone waved from inside the pocket dimension.
"Unfortunately no, I am retired for now, if it's a dire circumstance all we are agreed on is advice, in my current shape, I am barely stable enough to wield the universal glove. My own even." Lone raised his hand as his body looked withered.
"Take the glove off!" Jaimie shouted as she pointed to Astral's hand as well, it was turing gray like Lone's. Both of them threw it off at once into the pocket dimension as Hephaen examined it. James' ears twitched as he looked at the radar. It was beeping as they all looked up.
A wave of quietness filled the room as May got up and looked at the radar. "Judging by the way it is beeping, we have a month."
"Since when can you do advanced calculations in your head?" Astral looked over as she was making light of the terrible situation.
"We have time however, that is the very little good news." Adam flicked back down to the station. "We ask for volunteers and pull all available forces from the milky way to protect the station?"
"Yes, and we need Indy to be the spokesperson like how he was for the Dogpound. The forces on the ground don't need to know what we are suffering with." Astral pressed a button as he waved his hand and teleported Indy to them.
"Is it what you feared?" Indy was woozy as he wobbled back and forth.
"Yes, all we need is for you to give the message looking for volunteers and to hope for the best in this regard, we are sending the message to the milky way as well, not just here." Astral gave the thumbs up as Indy was going to speak from the heart as Adam pressed the record and intercept message.
"Uh, sorry for waking you up if you were asleep. And if you were awake, I feel terrible for delivering this message, we are soon to be under attack by an overwhelming force. As talented as our hosts are, they don't have the numbers to keep up. We are asking for any volunteers to keep everyone safe. Any who do not volunteer will not be forced to fight, but evacuated to a safe location." Indy took a second to continue on.
"We are asking now, we will have the supplies to train you and support you as these incoming forces will be wildly variable, those who volunteer can partake in a supporting role or used for piloting ships, cruisers, fighters, mechs, and any vehicle in between. I retired as one of the best."
"But you damn well know that I will not sit idle while my family is in danger, do it for those around you, do it for those who you love, and for those who remember. Do it for those who have sacrificed themselves for you." Indy teared up. "I have had so many people who I knew lay their lives not just on the line, but sacrificed for me. Now I am in the position to repay theirs. We will all do it together" Indy threw up his arm as a cheer was heard all across the station.
