Chapter 3: Chapter three
Sunlight flooded the room, revealing a barely covered Aurora, who just woke up and was trying to get her eyes acquainted with the brightly lit room. Rolling on her side, only to discover she was alone, she got off the bed and immediately fell back. A sharp pain pricked her in her lower abdomen, reminding her of the late night activity that occurred in that very room. She tried suppressing the cry that let her lips. Almost crawling, she got to the bathroom, prepared a warm bath and soaked herself till she felt better. Getting back to the room to notice a new dress that was prepared for her, she marveled at how simple and beautiful it was.
"You're awake" she heard immediately she came down the stairs, staring at her is a beautiful woman, certainly past her age grade. Her skin looks almost as soft as her eyes as she stared loving at her. Aurora smiled back at her shyly, while looking down.
"Come over here and have something to eat, the rest of the family already had breakfast"she beckoned to her. Aurora swiftly went over as she was starving, last night really took its toil on her. As soon as she sat down, started munching away, while the lady watched her smiling. " You must have been really hungry"she said chuckling. " I'm Gretchen by the way" Aurora choked on her food immediately she heard that. "Gretchen! As in the famous movie star, Gretchen Lundy" She must have been blind not to have recognized her immediately. She stared at her in awe and admiration. Gretchen let out a laugh or two, staring at Aurora as she fanned over her. "Can I get an autograph, please" she asked gleefully. "Of course, you have all the time to get one, we practically live together" she smiled. "How does my brother treats you? I would like it if you don't take it personal as he can be a real pain in the ass" she told her. Aurora smiled a little, not knowing what to say. " Any plans for today? Would you mind tagging along, I have some practice into the studio with my manager" "of course I'll love to go with you, there's not much that need my attention here anyways" she said. She hurriedly finished her breakfast.
The studio was a sight to behold, with an amazing view of the city, everything about it screamed luxury and influence. She sat in a corner watching them rehearse for a movie.
"Hey guyyyyys" a petite and pretty version of Gretchen walked into the studio, with a younger lady, both of their arms interlocked, making it known how close they are to each other. All eyes in the studio turned to them, "That's the precious youngest child of the Lundy's empire and beside her is the only daughter of the Morgan family, one of the most influential family in the country" "I wish I could be a friend of their's" "How lucky they are, I'm so envious" various whispers filled the room and the girls walked in beaming from ear to ear, aware that they are the center of attention.
"Jasmine" Gretchen called out letting of a little smile as her little sister walked up to her and gave her a hug. "Sis! I really missed you" Jasmine said out loud, "I got some stuffs for you from Paris, I had a splendid vacation, Ruby show sister Gretchen the necklace you picked out for her." Ruby, brought out a beautiful neck piece from her pass and passed to Gretchen, " I saw this and felt it will look nice on you, so I got it for you." "It's so pretty, thanks Ruby" Gretchen said, forcing a little smile. " Oh least I forgot, Jasmine meet Aurora, a new addition to the family." Jasmine and Ruby turned to lookin the direction she was pointing to, Aurora, not knowing how to act, smiled and waved at them. "How's that possible" Jasmine shrieked, "I thought Ruby was supposed to be the newest addition, she said looking at Aurora from her head down to her toe and back to her head with scorn and anger. Ruby looked like she was about to throw up, tears gathering in her eyes. "How? When?" That's was the question that kept coming up in her head. She immediately rushed to the toilet just before the tears could drop, with Jasmine hot behind her tail. "Ruby, stop, trust me it can't be true" she said while running behind her.
Aurora was confused, what the hell just happened she asked herself softly while looking up at Gretchen who just gave a sad smile. "Don't worry about them, with time they will warm up to you"she said while continuing her rehearsal.
The rest of the time spent in the studio was that of confusion. The two crying best friends already left the studio but not before giving her an hostile look. "I just got here and already made enemies, is that how it is to be a part of the elite?" Soon enough she brushed it off her mind and became engrossed in the perfect acting of Gretchen. On the way home, she could help but ask Gretchen, " Am I offending anyone by getting married to your brother?" Gretchen let out a litter chuckle, "of course not, just try to stay out of trouble and avoid getting involved with Ruby, she's a little too obsessed with Alexander. They've been together for a long time and he dotes on her, so it's no wonder she reacted that way. She probably wasn't aware he got married." Aurora could help me wonder what she had gotten herself into as she remembered the look of malice on Ruby's face, just before she left the studio. She still haven't figured out why Mason, her father in law, picked her to be his son's bride despite him being in a relationship with someone else. Enough thinking for one day, she said to herself as she slowly drifted off. "Aurora" she could hear someone calling to her, "wake up we are home" she opened her eyes to see the massive mansion in her view. "Oh I slept off again" she admonished herself mentally for always dozing off in place she shouldn't as she got off the car, a little dizzy, she staggered, trying to find her way to the room.
