Chapter 65: Chapter 65
Four days. That was how long it took me to find the right village. It was difficult because there were many such villages in the Kingdom of Earth, now a colony of the Land of Fire. So I had to sweat. When I arrived, they were waiting for me. Avatar's team and Azula.
«We know where she is», Aang said, stepping forward, «She's in the house», pointing to a small house behind him.
I moved there. He wasn't lying, and it made no sense. As soon as I realized what building she was in, I immediately felt her. Even though it was her blood, I knew she was alive. Entering the building, I looked around and found a staircase, I went up to the second floor. I opened the second door and entered the room.
She was sleeping. Gray, thin, but still the same. No matter what I did or what I did, she is my birth mother and she gave me what only she could. The chance to be somebody.
I walked over to her, opened the window, got some water and began to examine her. Everything was intact, which meant she hadn't been beaten. Her body was just emaciated, I guess she wasn't fed well. It's okay, she'll make up for it. I'll heal her and she'll be as good as new. That's what I did. An hour later, when I'd finished treating her, she woke up. I didn't know what to say to her because all the words stuck into my throat.
«Hi Mom», I smiled and scratched the back of my head, not knowing where to put my hands.
«Yoko», she said and her tears immediately flowed, «You're alive», she leaned over and hugged me.
«It would take a lot of effort to change that», I said with a smile, stroking her back.
«Where have you been?» she pulled away from me, «I've been looking for you, but it's like you fell through the ground.»
«I've been a lot of places», I said with a smile, «Almost all over the world», I boasted, «I've even become popular here», I said, pulling out a flyer with my face on it. At this simple joke, she smiled and laughed. I laughed along with her, letting go of all the tension I had built up.
«I'm glad you're back», she said.
From there we exchanged details and stories. And talked through the evening. Since she was exhausted, she began to feel sleepy in the evening, and seeing that, I said good night to her and went upstairs. That's where all the team was.
«Have you eaten?» I asked Azula. She nodded, «Let's go.»
We went up to the second floor, I had already gotten into the habit of running her diagnostics and healing her channels. I stopped stimulating her body since she had already repaired her hands. Only the qi channels remained. But the main thing is not to touch them now, they will recover in two weeks. The main thing is to treat her every now and then. That's what I did for her, to make her happy.
«From tomorrow you can restore your abilities, but wait with the magic», I shook my hands and poured water out of the window.
I went downstairs, threw some snacks on my plate, and plopped down in a chair in the hall. It was the one Azula was sitting in.
«Thank you», I said to her. To which I got surprised looks of 'what?
«Just surprised», Katara shrugged.
«Why?» I asked interestedly, working my jaw hard.
«Because they guessed your past», Toph said. I raised my eyebrows in surprise. «Blood Devil, genius of water magic and healing in the north, head of the fifteenth scouting squad», Toph said calmly. And I really screwed up «That's all Soka got.»
«Got it, then», I said, stepping back a bit and chewing my food, «You know, I've done a lot of things in my life. You don't know the half of it. I just didn't want people who knew me to know about my past. I didn't want to be feared. I've made a lot of mistakes, and I regret a lot of them, and I don't want the past to affect my present and my future. Kind of», I shrugged and continued eating.
After that, the room fell silent. Azula, who had been coming towards us but had stopped at the beginning of our dialogue, turned and went upstairs. Everyone had something to think about. I quietly finished my meal, rinsed the dishes, put them back, and fell back into my chair. There was one question that interested me.
«What are your plans for the near future?» I asked, looking at Aang.
«Well, after the comet arrives, to defeat Ozai. And restore peace», he said confidently, and something became unclear to me.
«After?» asked Zuko shocked, almost screaming.
«What comet?» they all looked at me now.
«Sozin's comet will arrive at the end of summer», Soka said. I grabbed my head. I was only joking. I said it to give my words more weight.
«Yes. Then», he shrugged, «What is the point of running into it at that time?»
«In the past, the arrival of the comet completely wiped out the air mages and created a large wasteland», I said, calming down a bit, «This time they can fly, which makes the damage even worse», I rubbed my eyes, imagining the piece of hemorrhoid we would have to deal with, «If history repeats itself and the amplification is the same, it will be a disaster», I threw my head back, trying to imagine the consequences, «Three hours before it arrives, the mages will start to grow in strength. If they are properly organized, they can break through the entire front and advance far into the depths. Their strength will peak for twenty minutes, then return to normal for another three hours. And in six and a half hours, with the power of all the mages of the Fire Nation, Ozai would completely burn down all the resistance, there aren't many of them left.»
After I said that, there was silence again. It became uncomfortable.
«Who will be the next Fire Lord?» I asked casually. Everyone looked at me in confusion.
«What are you talking about?» Zuko asked.
«About Azula being held hostage by us just to slow Ozai down», I scratched my chin, «If Aang defeats him, the throne will be vacated. And no matter what Aang does, he doesn't have the power to decide such things. So the question is, how will the throne be divided? Because once Ozai is deposed, I'll let Azula go. She's done nothing to me. She's the official princess, and you're the traitorous prince. Even if you had an one hundred Avatars, you still betrayed the people. Do you know what I mean?» I finished with a smile, seeing Zuko's realization of his situation.
«So what do we do?» said Aang.
«And how are the heirs dealing with this?» asked Katara.
«Agni-Kai», Zuko said murderously.
And I understood him. He hadn't been able to beat her before, and now that she had seen the dragon's flames, things had only gotten worse. Blue flames, that's no bullshit.
«What about quietly poisoning her or even stabbing her in bed?» asked Soka quietly.
«Until I heal her completely, no one will go near her», I said seriously, «And if you try...» I looked at Zuko seriously «You will find out why they call me the blood demon. Understand?» Zuko almost choked, swallowed, penetrated, accepted and understood «Okay. I'm going to bed. It's getting late.»
