Chapter 46: Chapter 46
[Third POV]
"... and this is where you will stay." The soldier said as he showed a small hut made of stone.
"You know. When I think of the largest kingdom of the world and it's people that wield the power to control the earth, small huts are not what kind of houses come to mind." Solon said with a small smile.
"Indeed, however we are overfilled with people. The construction takes time-even with our power- and the chaotic spirits are like a sword over our necks. We can't waste time buiding large but unused buildings." The soldier said, not minding the small complain.
"Can I remodel this place and turn it into a tea shop?" Solon asked as he looked around.
"Of course. You can do whatever you wish with it as long as you don't expand it. But I wouldn't be so sure about being able to enjoy peace right now. The army is looking for any able-bodied person to help. It is possible that you will be dragged into this." The soldier cautioned.
"You say that, but no civilian has been taken into the army. I saw many men outside not wearing armor. That must mean that your superiors try to keep them away. I doubt I would be any different." Solon said with a small smile.
The soldier said nothing, just smilled, turned around and left.
"That man, the one who stands here with the will to fight to the death without bringing any civillians into it, just because he once swore not to do so. When you follow him into battle, be proud." The same calm voice said as the soldier paused for a single second, before continuing walking.
'I always am. Which older brother is not proud of his younger sibling.' He thought with amusement.
~~~~~~~~~~
"Every man available has been armed sir!" A soldier in position reported loudly.
"Good! How many are there?" The marshal asked as he tied his gauntlets.
"We have a total of 100 thousand soldiers and we have already sent multiple message the the rest of the wall." The soldier answered immediately.
"Being in the exact center of the wall does have it's positives. Large amount of these soldiers was supposed to be used as reinforcments to the rest of the wall." He thought aloud.
"Sir, shall we send a message to the earth monarch?"
"Yes, send one to inform him of this horde. Let him prepare for the worst and hope for the best, because he will either hear of our victory or never hear of us again." He said as he exited the tent he was in.
After he finished talking a soldier that was writing things down left to send the message.
"Ring the bells. All soldiers take position, and send someone to evacuate the civillians from the village." He shouted as he closed in to the wall.
As the soldiers run around to relay his orders the man that guided Solon around came back and stopped right behind the marshal.
A small platform of stone rose as the marshal and his brother rose to the top of the wall where thousands upon thousands of soldiers stood ready to fight while boulders where constantly being raised to the top to be used as projectiles.
The marshal and his brother said nothing. They just stood still and looked behind the walls. Towards the land of the earth kingdom.
"Why did you decide to keep that man away? According to the reports he could kill chaotic spirits alone easily. He would be an extremely valuable resourse for the war."
"..."
"Tell me!"
"This fight is ours to fight. Not his."
"You always say that! What's the point of fighting in this war when we are wasting our people's lives!"
"Is he not part of these people you are talking about?" The marshal asked back directly.
"..."
"Do you know what's the common thing between the story of every grandmaster?"
"..."
"They have never ran from a fight. I believe that he will come to assist us when and if we need it. We just have to try to not need it."
"I see..."
A sudden sound of bells was heard as all soldiers -whether on top of the wall or in the bottom- tensed.
*DING*
*DONG*
*DING*
*DONG*
The marshal looked towards the earth kingdom one last time, he put on his helmet and turned around to see a large cloud of smoke rise from the horizon.
"And so it begins." He said as the wall had spikes created at it's side.
~~~~~~~~~~
"All done. With this the shop should be able to be opened tomorrow." Solon thought aloud while placing the last book in one of the bookcases he had created.
Solon turned towards the wall as the sound of bells was heard loudly.
*DING*
*DONG*
*DING*
*DONG*
Screams followed as large number of people started panicking.
Yet among those screams, multiple man and women rushed to their homes and grabbed some weapons and tools.
The older men and women started gathering the children to the edge of the village where they loaded them onto carts and send them deeper into the earth kingdom.
The sound of knocks woke Solon up from his thoughts.
*knock*
*knock*
"We are gathering everyone able to baricate the village. You should gather with the rest of us. If you don't want to, you can help by driving one of the carts filled with children away." A mans voice was heard before the hut fell silent once again.
'Why can't I open my shop in peace? This little farce is getting out of hand. Can't those two fight without disturbing my peace?' Solon thought as the fight Vaatu and Raava started getting on his nerves.
'I swear to everything that holds knowledge, I will make sure to make them regret wasting my experiment time.' He thought as a frown appeared on his face.
Unbeknownst to everyone two immensely powerful spirits felt shivvers down their spines at that very moment.
