Batman’s Son in Marvel

Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Building A Reactor

After creating a controllable miniature cold fusion reactor, Adam Wayne started the manufacturing process. But before moving on to miniature prototypes, he planned to build something bigger first.

Tony Stark had built a massive reactor right underneath Stark Tower, calling it the Arc Reactor. That reactor not only powered Stark Tower but could even provide energy to several surrounding city blocks. Adam naturally wanted something just as impressive, if not better, for himself.

He had long been displeased with the large, unsightly power cables running through Wayne Manor. Not only were they an eyesore, but the energy supply itself was under someone else's control.

Although no one in Gotham dared to cross the Wayne family, Adam wasn't naïve. What if the Court of Owls or some other hidden enemy decided to cut the power? Wayne Group and Wayne Manor could lose energy in an instant.

And then what? Batman would be forced to fight villains in the dark, without his advanced gadgets or Bat-Suit. Everything required energy—his weapons, his vehicles, and his security systems.

So, under the orders of the young master of the Wayne family, construction began immediately next door to Wayne Manor.

It took just two days to transform a nearby small manor into a solid nuclear fusion reactor center. At its core was a prototype Arc Reactor, over ten meters in diameter.

With a single command, this massive reactor could power not just Wayne Manor but all of Gotham City.

Of course, Adam had no intention of sharing this energy. Stark Industries had developed the Arc Reactor years ago, and Tony Stark had initially aimed to lead the world into a new era of clean energy.

But in the end, Stark had been forced to abandon that dream and return to the arms industry.

Why?

Because America's largest oil corporations would never allow clean energy to threaten their dominance. The entire energy industry had turned against Stark, forcing him to comply. If it hadn't been for his connections to S.H.I.E.L.D., Tony Stark might've been buried in the desert long ago.

Adam wasn't stupid. He valued his life too much to make the same mistake.

After completing the Arc Reactor, he turned his attention to his other passion—the prototype for his steel armor.

He was still fine-tuning its systems when an unexpected guest barged into his lab.

"Oh my God! What is this?!"

Adam didn't even have to look. That voice could only belong to Fox.

The old man was practically drooling as he stared at the massive Arc Reactor. His eyes were wide with awe, like he'd just walked into a candy store for geniuses.

"Adam, this… this is… incredible!" Fox stammered, struggling to find the right words.

"Yes," Adam said calmly. "It's the Arc Reactor."

Fox's jaw dropped. "How do you know this technology? Isn't this Tony Stark's most classified project? When did you even build this thing? And how did you—"

"Whoa, slow down, Fox." Adam raised a hand to cut him off. "How am I supposed to answer so many questions at once?"

Fox took a deep breath. "Fine. Start with this—how did you get your hands on this technology?"

Adam shrugged. "It's Tony Stark's design. I just improved it."

Fox's eyes narrowed. "Improved it? Do you have any idea how advanced this is? I spent years studying Stark's work, trying to replicate it. And I failed. Completely."

"Yeah, it's tough," Adam replied, nodding in sympathy. "It took me three whole days to finish it."

Fox froze. "Three days?"

"Yeah," Adam said with a straight face. "Three days."

Fox looked like he'd been hit by a truck.

He had spent years working on this technology—years of frustration and dead ends. Meanwhile, Adam had casually knocked it out in three days?

For the first time in his life, Fox felt what it was like to be utterly crushed by a younger generation.

Seeing Fox's stunned expression, Adam almost felt guilty. Almost.

Being a genius with access to cheat-level technology was boring sometimes. But moments like this? These made it worthwhile.

After enjoying the moment, Adam decided to get back to business.

"So, Fox, what brings you here today?"

Fox snapped out of his daze, still clutching a contract in his hands. "I came to talk about the artificial intelligence technology deal."

But as he glanced back at the Arc Reactor, his enthusiasm for AI suddenly seemed dim.

What was the point? Compared to this reactor, the AI project felt insignificant. It was like comparing a loaf of bread to a feast.

Fox hesitated, then finally asked the question burning in his mind.

"Adam, can we—"

"No."

Adam shut him down before he could even finish.

Fox blinked. "No?"

"No," Adam repeated firmly. "You're not getting the Arc Reactor. Don't even think about it."

Fox frowned. "Why not?"

"Did you already forget what happened to Stark Industries?" Adam shot back.

Fox paled.

Tony Stark had nearly bankrupted his company trying to introduce clean energy. The oil industry had fought back viciously, cutting his profits in half and sinking his stock prices. If the military hadn't stepped in, Stark Industries might not have survived.

Wayne Group had barely escaped that mess as well.

Fox quickly abandoned any thoughts of taking the reactor public.

"Alright," he said. "But what about Wayne Group? Could you build one just for us?"

Adam smirked. "Sure."

Fox let out a sigh of relief.

"But," Adam added with a grin, "you're going to have to pay me more."

Fox's face fell.
