Batman’s Son in Marvel

Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Bargaining

The technology used in the steel armor was incredibly advanced. Adam had shared some details with Fox, and now the old man seemed completely hooked.

It took Adam a long time to finally get him out of the lab.

He even provided Fox with a lot of technical information just to shut him up and send him on his way.

As Fox left, Adam leaned back and sighed.

Oh well.

He could just think of it as training talent for Wayne Enterprises.

Sooner or later, Wayne Enterprises would be his anyway.

Rounding it all off, he was just investing in his future workforce.

The thought made Adam feel much better.

With his mood lifted, Adam turned his attention back to the steel armor assembly line in front of him.

A new version of the steel armor was being assembled.

The first prototype had only been a test model and didn't fit his measurements at all.

The one being built now was the finalized version, perfectly tailored to his specifications.

And unlike Tony Stark, Adam wasn't short on cash.

Even if Wayne Enterprises and Stark Industries had similar valuations, the Wayne family's private wealth was in another league.

They didn't just own companies—they controlled mines, factories, and entire supply chains.

While Tony Stark had to order every single part from external suppliers, Adam could simply pull resources from within his own family's business empire.

That meant the cost of his steel armor was significantly cheaper.

And thanks to his endless resources, Adam didn't stop at just one set of armor.

He built multiple.

A few sets for himself.

A few for Bruce.

And even one for Alfred—just in case.

His lab had been running at full capacity lately, but the results were worth it.

Just as Adam was about to put on the armor for its first real test, Alfred walked in.

"Master Wayne, there's news about Tony Stark."

Adam paused, looking up.

"What happened? Did something go wrong?"

Alfred's face was calm, but his tone carried a hint of concern.

"Mr. Stark has been missing for four days."

"Four days?" Adam's brow furrowed.

"The military and Stark Industries still haven't found him?"

"No, sir," Alfred confirmed. "Stark Industries' stock has taken a massive hit, and the military is getting desperate. It seems they've been searching nonstop, but there's been no sign of him."

Adam leaned back, slightly stunned.

Tony Stark had always been popular with the military—before he announced plans to shut down Stark Industries' weapons division, that is.

As the most prominent arms dealer in America, Stark's connections ran deep.

The military practically relied on him, and the idea of losing him must have driven them into a frenzy.

But then again, Adam knew Tony Stark's decision to shut down the weapons division had made him plenty of enemies—especially among top brass in the military.

Still, Adam had to admit it took guts to turn his back on billions of dollars and an entire industry.

In that sense, Tony Stark truly lived up to the name "Iron Man."

After a brief moment of thought, Adam's frown deepened.

He wasn't sure exactly how long Tony had been captured in that cave, but if the terrorists got impatient, Stark might not have much time left.

"Four days already…" Adam muttered.

His instincts told him he should start preparing—just in case.

"Alfred," Adam said suddenly. "Go to Stark Industries and buy up shares while their stock is still bottoming out. Focus on acquiring shares from the smaller shareholders."

Alfred raised an eyebrow.

"Are you sure about that, Master Wayne? Stark Industries' stock is at its lowest point right now. What if Mr. Stark doesn't make it back?"

Adam smirked.

"He'll make it back. Trust me. And when he does, the stock price is going to skyrocket. We're not losing anything on this deal."

Alfred nodded.

"As you wish, Master Wayne."

With that, Alfred left the lab to handle the business side of things, leaving Adam to return to his experiments.

Meanwhile, halfway across the world, Tony Stark's situation wasn't looking great.

Despite the body armor Adam had given him, Stark still ended up with a massive hole in his chest.

The armor had done its job, saving his vital organs, but it hadn't been enough to protect his limbs completely.

He'd taken two bullets to the upper thigh.

Luckily, the wounds weren't fatal, but the damage was enough to leave him limping.

To make matters worse, the terrorists forced him to build weapons.

Instead, Stark and his fellow captive, Yinsen, had spent days secretly constructing an arc reactor and the Mark I armor.

"Mr. Stark, how are you feeling?" Yinsen asked as he prepared the reactor's final components.

"Like hell," Tony muttered, gripping the pliers in his hands.

"Just hold it steady, okay? We can't afford any mistakes."

Yinsen nodded.

The palladium they'd salvaged from missiles had taken them days to collect, and this was their only shot at getting the reactor to work.

If it failed, they were dead.

With steady hands, Yinsen poured the liquid metal into the mold.

The reactor pulsed faintly as it activated, and Tony let out a shaky breath.

"It works," he said. "It actually works."

But there was no time to celebrate.

"This is just the beginning, Yinsen. If we're going to get out of here, we need more than this."

Yinsen grinned. "I take it you have a plan?"

"Definitely," Tony said.

The two men worked tirelessly for days, welding, hammering, and assembling the crude suit of armor.

But the terrorists weren't idiots.

The moment they saw Tony working on something unusual, they stormed the workshop.

"Get ready!" Tony shouted, strapping on the Mark I.

Yinsen grabbed a rifle and headed toward the door.

"Buy me some time!" Tony yelled.

Yinsen nodded, but instead of sticking to the plan, he ran straight into the line of fire.

"Damn it, Yinsen!" Tony cursed, activating the suit.

He knew there was no turning back now.
