Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Wayne Tower Was Bombed!
For the past few days, Adam had been holed up in his lab.
Bruce Wayne had been making endless demands about modifications to his suit.
Turning heavy armor into something sleek and lightweight, while still maintaining high-level defense, wasn't an easy task. The process required extensive redesigns, reworking the internal systems, and even creating entirely new weapons to fit the adjusted framework.
It was a headache.
Even though Adam didn't consider himself a particularly good person, he believed in paying back those who had treated him well.
Bruce Wayne wasn't just a father figure—he'd been generous, supportive, and gave Adam everything he needed without hesitation.
That debt couldn't be ignored.
Now that Bruce had finally asked for something, Adam wanted to deliver.
Still, he felt like it was overkill.
The reality was, Bruce didn't face the kind of threats that required this level of tech. Most of Gotham's criminals weren't superpowered beings. They were mob bosses, corrupt businessmen, and lunatics with guns and knives.
Using a suit designed to go toe-to-toe with gods to deal with gangsters? That was complete overkill.
Adam couldn't help but feel bad for Gotham's villains. They didn't stand a chance.
He paused his work for a moment, letting out a sigh before diving back into the armor modifications.
It wasn't long before Alfred entered the lab, his face unusually grim.
"Master, something's happened."
Adam immediately picked up on the tension in Alfred's voice and put down his tools.
Alfred was a calm and composed man, rarely shaken. His years of service in MI6 had turned him into someone who could handle almost anything without breaking a sweat.
So seeing him like this sent alarm bells ringing in Adam's mind.
"Grandpa Alfred, what is it? What's wrong?"
Alfred took a deep breath, trying to steady himself before speaking.
"Wayne Tower has been bombed."
Adam's eyes widened as he shot up from his chair.
"What?!"
Wayne Tower wasn't just an office building—it was a symbol of Gotham.
A landmark that represented the Wayne family's legacy.
It wasn't just an attack on a building. It was an attack on the entire Wayne family.
Who the hell would dare to do something like this?
"What are the casualties?" Adam demanded, his voice sharp.
Alfred's face darkened.
"Three employees are confirmed dead. Many others were injured."
Adam clenched his fists, his anger rising.
"Make sure their families are taken care of. They'll get whatever they need."
"Master Bruce is already handling it," Alfred replied.
Adam nodded but still felt the anger boiling inside him.
This wasn't just about property damage—it was personal.
"Do we have any leads?"
"None," Alfred said, his voice heavy.
"The surveillance system was taken out moments before the explosion. Security barely had time to respond before it happened."
"No leads? Not even traces of the explosives used?"
Alfred shook his head.
"Nothing. Even Wayne Group's research teams couldn't identify what caused the explosion."
Adam froze.
Wayne Group wasn't just a corporate empire—it also had one of the most advanced arms development divisions in the world.
If their experts couldn't figure out what kind of explosives were used, then something was seriously wrong.
"This doesn't make sense."
Adam's eyes narrowed.
Wayne Group's labs were capable of analyzing any known explosive. C4, TNT, even experimental compounds—they would've been able to identify something.
But they'd come up empty.
It didn't add up.
Alfred let out a sigh.
"Master Bruce asked me to bring this to your attention. He thought you might be able to find something the others missed."
Adam didn't hesitate.
"Let's go."
Grabbing his toolbox, he followed Alfred out of the lab.
When they arrived at Wayne Tower, the scene was worse than Adam expected.
The first floor of the building looked like it had been hit by a tornado.
Scorch marks blackened the walls, debris was scattered everywhere, and shattered glass littered the ground.
The entire area was surrounded by police tape, with officers guarding the perimeter.
"Clear the building," Adam ordered. "I need the place empty before I start."
Alfred nodded and stepped outside to handle it.
Within minutes, the building was cleared, leaving Adam alone with the ruins.
He set down his toolbox and activated Skynet.
"Skynet, launch drones and start scanning the area."
Small drones lifted into the air, buzzing through the wreckage like mechanical bees.
"Run isotope spectrum analysis, carbon-14 scans, and build a 3D model of the scene."
"Scanning…"
Skynet's voice echoed through the lab.
Adam stood silently, watching as data poured in.
A virtual reconstruction of the explosion slowly began to take shape on the holographic display.
The image revealed something strange—at the center of the blast was a glowing, golden energy signature.
"What the hell is that?"
"Analyzing…"
After a moment, Skynet responded.
"No traces of conventional explosives detected."
Adam frowned.
No C4. No TNT. Not even experimental compounds.
It was as if the explosion had been caused by something entirely unnatural.
"Was it energy-based?"
"Unable to confirm."
Adam's jaw tightened.
There were only two possibilities—either this was some new technology completely off the books, or it wasn't technology at all.
"Could this be magic?"
The thought made him uncomfortable.
Magic wasn't something he was prepared for.
But no matter what it was, someone had attacked the Wayne family.
Someone had declared war.
And Adam had no intention of letting it slide.
