Became a Demon with Pregnancy System

Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Give me something to wear

"How could this happen?"

Tanya Reed leaned against the cave walls, huddled tightly with her hands clenched as she stared blankly at the stalactites dangling from the ceiling. The soft gleam of white rock around her afforded her no comfort, nor the picturesque surroundings of the demon wolf territory.

She looked down at the pile of disheveled clothing on the floor. The ache in her body was a bitter reminder of the night before.

"What should I do now?" Tanya whispered, her voice trembling. "Oh, dear. Am I really going to… give birth to that wolf's child?"

Tears rolled back from the swelling in her eyes, only to break forth at the huge wave of hopelessness invading her.

Luke's voice resounded from the cave entrance, just a caress of laughter afloat with sincerity. "Tanya, still sulking? All right. I'll admit that I got carried away last night. First times can be messy."

Tanya's head shot up as she glared through bleeding colors of grievance. "Don't call me Tanya as though we're friends. I don't have students like you."

Luke laughed, undeterred by her bite. "We'll discuss that later. All I require is for you to bear me a child. That's all. Nothing more."

The referral of children sent a jolt of anger through Tanya. "Children? Why don't you ask one of your she-wolves? Why me?"

Luke planted his back against the entrance of the cave with arms folded across his chest. "The she-wolves?" He smiled. "They may be strong, but they don't have the potential that you have."

Frustration flared inside Tanya. "Potential? Me? I'm human! This doesn't make any sense."

Luke sighed, knowing he'd need to clarify some things if he hoped to get Tanya to cooperate, or at least calm down. "You're not just any human," he said very slowly. "You are a totem guardian, aren't you?"

Tanya narrowed her eyes. "Why do you tell me that?"

"I told you before-I'm no ordinary demon wolf. I'm a totemic creature, able to change into human form. Children born by humans such as yourself are naturally gifted; this will only mean my lineage grows stronger."

Tanya laughed. "You really expect me to buy that?"

"Come with me," Luke insisted in a commanding tone.

"Where?" Tanya hesitated as she tightly clutched the tattered remnants of her clothing against herself.

Luke would not let Tanya even think about asking for one. He took the entire distance in one stride, carrying her easily over his shoulder.

"Put me down!" Tanya yelled, kicking her legs. "At least, give me some clothes first!"

Luke ignored her protests, taking her out of the cave.

A little further away, Zoe Miller sat astride a Bone-Spur Wolf and gaped at the intricately carved stone tablets in the heart of demon wolf territory. The ancient carvings showed scenes from battles and rituals, as well as great beasts with claws descending from the skies.

"These wolves had their own civilization?" Zoe mumbled, running her fingertip over the weathered surface of one mural. She held her breath as she distinguished a massive claw for the impressed creature, which completely dwarfed even the largest demons she had ever studied.

"An emperor-class creature," Zoe intoned in a hushed voice. She had read about such beings from textbooks, but witnessing proof of one was staggering.

The scream jolted her back. Zoe turned toward the source of the sound and immediately recognized the voice.

"Miss Tanya?" she said, eyebrows narrowing.

Her gaze lifted with the sound and fell on Luke, who was carrying a wildly thrashing Tanya over the rough terrain.

"Well, this is a surprise," Zoe murmured with a wry smile.

"Put me down!" Tanya shouted again, hoarse with indignation. Legs kicked furiously, but her strength was utterly lacking compared to that of Luke.

"Calm down," Luke almost teased. "These wolves are not interested in you, clothed or unclothed."

"I'm a human!" Tanya snapped. "Humans wear clothes! You want children? Then you'll have to give me something to wear."
