"Captain look, isn't that the thing Nulez drew." In a deep but quiet voice, a figure covered in a robe made from leaves pointed at the massive black metal creature slowly walking towards their way.
"Yeah, that's it. But... is that a human riding on a horse behind it? Did Nulez mention anything about a human girl?" He pulled out the drawing Nulez had given them, carefully studying it to confirm the resemblance.
"Nothing about the human girl, but we should be careful captain. Even from here, I can sense some sort of mana fluctuating from it. It looks similar to the fire element but, more destructive." Holding on to their staff tightly, Camus, the one who first pointed out the black creature, could see the destructive purple aura emanating from it,
The Captain, named Aeson, merely raised his eyebrow but kept Camus's words in his mind. Staring at the black creature that was heading directly to their home, the Glovergar Forest, Aeson took a deep breath and cursed at Nulez. "Damn it Nulez, what did you even bring to my doorstep?"
Taking another deep breath, he steadied himself, before issuing orders. "Camus, Galan, Ayda, be ready. Stay in the trees. Nulez claimed it was intelligent and saved his tribe, but we can't rely on his word alone. I'll speak to it first."
Aeson looked at Galan, a friend of his, who was preparing his heavy wooden bow and notching an arrow. He nodded at him and looked towards his niece, Ayda. Who was checking on potions that were in her bags and strapped all over her.
Waiting until the creature was right in front of the forest, Aeson jumped down from the tree he was perching on and started to question the metal creature. Even though Nulez vouchs for it, he still has a job to do. Keeping his people safe.
"Halt, you are entering the elven territory, state your business or turn back at once" Even with its intimidating looks, Aeson still kept his composure as the emotionless purple eyes stared deeply into his.
Now Erina was completely unfocused on where she was going, just letting the connection she had with the egg guide her, as she was messing with her plasma energy. There was a lot of cool shit she figured out, like creating small balls of plasma the size of a soccer ball, that she can throw, really destructive by the way. Or even making her claws so hot they burn anything they touch, and let's just the path she took had a lot of burn marks everywhere.
But a loud voice snapped her out of her focus. Blinking, she realized an elf stood directly in front of her, sword in hand. Her first elf encounter, and she hadn't even caught what he said. But she dismissed him entirely and resumed her march forward, singularly fixated on finding her egg.
Olena, who was behind Erina, gave a sheepish smile and waved awkwardly at the elf, clueless about what to do as she was just following the metal creature.
However, when Erina tried to step past him, the forest reacted. The trees ahead groaned and twisted, forming a solid wall of wood that barred her path. Her sharp eyesight caught a soft green glow emanating from one of the trees to her left, and gathering some plasma to her tail, she pointed it towards the green glow.
"STOP! CAMUS, STAND DOWN!" Aeson yelled, surprising Camus who was just about to release another spell
"YOU, METAL THING, I KNOW YOU CAN UNDERSTAND ME! THAT OLD TIGER BASTARD TOLD ME ABOUT YOU. SO CALM DOWN, AND I'LL TAKE YOU TO HIM!"
Feeling the destructive energy building up around the creature, Aeson swallowed his nerves and made a decision. If this thing was as powerful as it seemed, engaging it head-on was just dumb, and if he could reason with it. It would be better to let Nulez, the one who vouched for it, handle the situation. Especially in his home, he did not want any of the trees to get destroyed for no reason, and judging the creature, it was better to guide it for now.
Erina kept her tail pointed at the green glow, but stopped gathering energy. She remained motionless, her gaze fixed on the glow, waiting for the light to vanish before making her next move.
Aeson let out a quiet breath of relief as he noticed the creature's energy subsiding. Wasting no time, he moved towards Camus, climbed up to his tree, and whispered sharply, "Stand down, Camus. That's an order. We can't take it on by ourselves, just follow my lead until reinforcements arrive."
As he whispered the last part, his eyes shifted toward Galan. The archer stood on a branch above, his bow drawn, with the arrow trained on the creature's glowing purple eyes. Beside him, Ayda, his niece, gripped two potions tightly in her hands, a red gaseous one in her left and a green, bubbling concoction in her right. Ayda had a large smile as she softly shook her potions. Wanting to test her concoctions on the creature in front of her.
"Galan, keep her safe and report what's happening. I'll guide it to Nulez's tribe," Aeson ordered, his tone firm. His gaze shifted to Ayda, who was still clutching the volatile potions. "Ayda! Put those away and follow Galan. And shut that mouth of yours, I already know what you're going to say, and my answer is no."
He didn't wait for her protests. Aeson's priority was clear, get help before the creature decided to be not nice, and to keep Ayda out of harm's way. But just as he tried to tell Ayda to listen to him, a loud metallic screech interrupted his thought.
Turning towards the creature, Aeson saw it point to the wood wall as it stared at him, waiting for him to do something. And giving Camus a nod, Camus held up his staff as the green crystal glowed. Merely charging up his spell for a couple of seconds, Camus manipulated the trees to return to their original form.
As Camus tried to fix the trees, both Galan and Ayda ran back to their outpost. After trying for several minutes to set everything back in its rightful place, Aeson climbs down from the tree and motions to the creature to follow him.
The human girl trailing behind the beast caught his attention briefly, but Aeson quickly decided to ignore her for now. After all, the girl appeared to have been with the creature for a while.
