Chapter 7: Chapter 7: First of all, how did you do it?
Sally Jefferson took Ella Lacey into her arms from behind, like a caring big sister, and gently asked, "Ella, are you okay?"
"Mhm!" Ella Lacey nodded her head.
However, after almost being turned into minced meat, she still felt a lingering fear in her chest.
"Damn, why aren't you guys stepping in?!" Ginny Harl swore and pushed the group of guys around her.
Nevertheless, they only had eyes for Sally Jefferson. She wore a pastel purple dress, her long hair flowing, occasionally batting her long lashes, casting seductive eyes at them unknowingly, utterly captivating.
"You, guys, better leave." Sally Jefferson spoke languidly, casually flicking her hair, diffusing a pleasant scent of shampoo.
The guys closed their eyes and took a deep breath, completely intoxicated. They said in unison, "Goodbye, Goddess!"
Watching the men grovelling before running away, Ginny Harl was speechless from anger, "A bunch of ungrateful bastards!"
"Ella, let's go." Sally Jefferson took her arm and walked gracefully past Ginny Harl. She said coolly, "If I ever see you treat my sister like this again, death will come to you in unimaginable ways."
The Goddess possessed a powerful aura, which left Ginny Harl speechless, making faces behind their backs.
Sally Jefferson brought Ella Lacey to a white Bentley, the butler driver had been waiting at the school entrance for a while.
"Uncle Wang, to Lindsey Family." Sally Jefferson, holding Ella Lacey, instructed after getting in.
As the car started moving, Ella Lacey put down her backpack and couldn't help but ask, "Sally, didn't you leave for a music exam? When did you come back? You came back just at the right time, you are my lucky goddess!"
They were both in their third year of high school, but in different classes. Sally Jefferson had been away for a while to attend a vocal music examination in another city.
She tucked her hair behind her ear, winked and said softly, "I took a red-eye flight back to Yun Hai City yesterday. When I came to school today, I heard about your inspiring story. I came to your classroom after school but you weren't there. Luckily, I bumped into you at the entrance."
Sally Jefferson's response was natural. Ella took it at face value. Moreover, she felt excited about the good news and wanted to share the story of the mysterious castle with her.
"Because I aced the test, Arthur took me to the mysterious castle. Even though my eyes were blindfolded the whole journey, the castle was super dreamy, super beautiful, beyond words to describe. Through the windows lay a deep forest, and the sounds of crashing waves."
As she started to recount the event, subtle changes were seen in Sally Jefferson's facial expression.
Ella didn't notice it, but Sally Jefferson's previously affectionate face was now hidden behind her hair, turning incredibly icy!
She was filled with resentment. How could Ella, who is essentially an orphan brought in from the orphanage, enter Arthur's private castle just because she topped a test?!
Why couldn't she go there? The Jefferson Family and the Lindsey Family had been family friends for generations. Her mother even said she was engaged to Arthur since they were kids!
Suppressing the storm in her heart, after a while, Sally Jefferson calmed down, turned her head, looked at Ella with a delighted smile, and asked softly, "Ella, how did you manage to come first in the test? I remember your grades were usually mediocre."
"Um, well..." Ella was twiddling her thumbs, biting her lips, unsure of whether to tell her the truth, considering Sally had been like a sister to her during her upbringing.
Since she was seven years old, when she moved from the orphanage to the Lindsey Family, all of the children from the five families that the Lindsey Family was close with had been maintaining friendly relationships with Ella.
After counting the years they had been growing up together, it had been nearly a decade.
In school, the only person who knew about her connection to the Lindsey Family was Sally. They trusted each other completely.
Above all, Sally had just helped her at the school entrance.
Thinking about it made her feel disinclined to hide anything from Sally. She was about to reveal the secret of the space ring when the car suddenly stopped.
"Miss, we've arrived at the Lindsey Family residence."
