Behind Closed-eyes

Chapter 4: Shadows in the Red Eyes

CHAPTER 4

After settling the questions at the station, she left Sam and went to her apartment to see if she could work from there. The cab dropped her at the gate of the estate. When she got there, it was already getting dark, so she turned on her flashlight in case of another situation.

As she walked towards her house lane, she felt a cool breeze. The lights around the estates started to dim, which startled her. She started to feel as though someone was staring at her again. She turned back to check, but there was nothing, not even those red eyes making her feel extremely scared. However, the gaze was getting intense, so she hastened her steps.

She hastened her footsteps before she started running towards her home, feeling as though someone was watching her, the sensation clinging to her like a shadow. As soon as she reached her home, she locked it down and turned to check through the pinhole if anyone was there. What she saw sent chills down her spine – those "red eyes" staring straight at her, as if they could devour her with grief. Maya was so frightened that she rushed into the house and closed all the doors, windows, anything that could be linked to entering the house.

Feeling exhausted from all that, she lay down, scrolling through her phone when she received a message from an unknown number, which read "I FOUND YOU." Whoosh the power went off in the whole house, and suddenly, a gust of wind came in from who knows where. She felt a presence in the house, which made her shiver from fright, ready to call 911. Turning her face to look for where the unknown heavy breathing was coming from, she saw something that looked like a human but was standing on his toes, his eyes red, and his face deathly pale.

She stiffened, moved back to get a bat, thinking "maybe I could hit him with it," when all of a sudden, a cold wind brushed past her as she felt him standing right behind her. She nearly fainted when she heard a hoarse voice close to her ear say, "Don…don't move I found you." It sent shivers down her spine as she screamed "GHOST!" and fainted straight down. Everywhere became silent

A while later, ring ring…ring ring, the sound of a phone ringing woke her up from her deep slumber, causing all of what happened last night to come rushing back through her head, which gave her a serious headache. Suddenly feeling pain from her arm, she looked down only to see her fair wrist bruised by something unknown. She felt like it was burning, which was strange, so she went ahead to take a shower and applied medication on her wrist to prevent an infection.

Prepared to work at home, she went to the study room and called Emily over to get some dancers to come over to prepare for their next concert in a month's time and also bring the paperwork as well.
