Chapter 34: The Couple Takes On Area Together!!
"What in the world?"
Even the seasoned God of War, Ares, was taken aback when he saw the monstrous figure before him.
Diana, too, was stunned by Ryuji's transformation.
"Ares, God of War, huh? Let's see what you've got!"
"Hmph, a petty sneak attacker," Ares sneered, launching himself back into the fight.
Ryuji was a little shaken internally. Though he hadn't gone all out earlier, he used at least 70% of his strength when he struck Ares, only to knock him back a mere 30 meters.
On top of that, his fist throbbed with pain, as though he'd just punched a steel wall. A glance confirmed the redness. Ares' defense was no joke.
The difference in their levels was clear as day. Ryuji's "dark demon" form barely elevated him to the peak of a hero's power, while Ares was at the pinnacle of legendary strength.
Fighting him head-on wasn't an option.
And Ares wasn't much of a magic user; he preferred brute-force melee combat. This rendered Ryuji's spell-based tricks less effective.
When Ares swung his blade down, Ryuji dodged just in time.
Spinning on his heel, Ryuji began forming a whirlwind of black wind around him.
"Darkness!"
"Dark Breath" — a magical dark vortex unleashed toward the enemy.
Logan and Victor, watching from a distance, exchanged looks of bewilderment.
"Holy hell… Did Ryuji have that in him?" Logan muttered.
Doutzen Carlos, standing nearby, looked equally dumbfounded.
The vortex grew larger and larger, enveloping Ares in its dark winds. It stretched nearly 100 meters wide and shot straight up into the sky.
But the vortex wasn't just wind. The darkness acted like sharp blades, slicing at Ares. To make things worse, lingering flames from earlier explosions were sucked into the whirlwind, turning it into a fiery inferno.
A dark fire tornado.
"Argh! Damn it!" Ares roared from within, slashing wildly.
However, each swing only sent him ricocheting inside the vortex. His armor began to peel under the onslaught of wind blades, and flames licked at his exposed skin. Small cuts appeared, burning painfully.
But despite the damage, it wasn't enough. Ares wasn't just strong—he was furious.
And fury was fuel.
"Ryuji, is that you?" Diana called as she approached.
"My love, how could you forget me after the night we shared?" Ryuji teased, though his "demonized" face turned the intended sorrowful expression into something terrifying.
"What is this form?" Diana asked, puzzled.
"This is Darkness, my strongest ability. Remember what I told you: there's no such thing as an evil power, only evil intentions." Ryuji tried to explain, though there wasn't much time. "But listen, Diana, my dark breath won't hold him for long. He'll break free any second now. When he does, I'll need your help."
Right on cue, a deafening roar split the air. Ares burst through the dark tornado, scattering its remnants in every direction.
Ryuji sighed. "Great. My timing is impeccable."
"Boy, you're dead!" Ares thundered.
His armor was in tatters, his skin bruised and bloodied, but his rage amplified his power. Launching himself forward like a missile, he aimed straight for Ryuji.
"Uh… Honey, you've got this one!" Ryuji yelled as he darted away, leaving Diana to confront Ares.
Logan and Victor couldn't believe their eyes.
"Did he just leave her to fight the God of War?" Logan whispered.
"Well, she is the Goddess of War," Victor shrugged.
Ryuji didn't flee far. Instead, he turned and rocketed toward Ares' unprotected back.
"Hey, Ares, let go of my wife and fight me instead!"
He folded his wings and dove like a missile. His punch connected just as Ares turned around.
"Boy, how dare you—!"
But before Ares could retaliate, a sinister black orb erupted from Ryuji's hand, striking him square in the chest.
"Dark Light Bomb!" Ryuji shouted.
The attack exploded on impact, sending Ares crashing into the ground with tremendous force.
"You cunning little—ARGH!" Ares bellowed as Ryuji pelted him with more black magic projectiles.
One after another, Ryuji hurled Dark Light Bombs at Ares, each strike causing a burst of energy and ripping into the ground.
The crater beneath Ares grew deeper and wider with each blast, until it stretched hundreds of meters across.
"Boom! Boom! BOOM!" Ryuji laughed maniacally. "Take that! And this! And—oh, man, I'm exhausted."
Panting, he hovered above the massive pit, watching Ares lie motionless at its center. The God of War looked battered and broken, but Ryuji knew better than to assume victory.
Ares wasn't finished yet.
