Chapter 2: Chapter 2 The Cat That Fell from the Sky
The man in white, supporting him, couldn't help shivering involuntarily.
However, hidden beneath this murderous aura was a pain that was difficult for anyone to detect.
He slowly closed his eyes, concealing all the emotions within, and when he opened them again, they were like an unfathomable abyss.
Indifferent, arrogant.
"Let's go," Jun Moyan said, ready to leave with the remaining seven or eight subordinates.
Just at that moment, a muffled thunderclap sounded.
Immediately after, a deep purple lightning bolt exploded in the night sky right above the small grove.
The lightning rapidly spread across the entire sky like a spider web.
This bolt of lightning lit up a portion of the grove, and also made the path beneath their feet clearer.
Yet, the lightning lingered in the night sky without dissipating, as if it was born there, suffused with a strange eeriness.
The man in white instinctively stopped, lifted his eyes to glance upwards, and through the leaves and branches, observed the night sky now filled with purple lightning and emitting a purple glow.
This...
"Third Master," the man in white couldn't help calling out.
Jun Moyan halted, turned his head to look at the man in white who was staring upward, then, with a hint of confusion, also looked up to the sky.
Even the usually composed Jun Moyan couldn't help but feel astonished at this bizarre sight.
But it was only for an instant before he recovered, "Let's go."
The man in white withdrew his gaze, continuing to support Jun Moyan as they moved forward.
However, at the very moment they looked away, the sky that was filled with purple lightning suddenly brightened for an instant.
The sky seemed to be ripped open by a gap, as if something was about to burst forth.
As if to confirm this strange idea, a clump of pinkish-white substance fell from the gap.
And its direction of fall was toward the very grove they were in...
This odd and unusual phenomenon caught the attention of many, who hurriedly took out their phones to capture this moment.
But the gap in the sky vanished in the blink of an eye, as if it had never existed, to say nothing of catching the pinkish-white object that was falling at breakneck speed.
This meant that those people only captured the sky filled with purple lightning.
Some, however, had been recording with their phones since the purple lightning first appeared.
It was just unfortunate that the pinkish-white object was too small, and fell too fast, making it impossible to see what it was.
And as this object landed, the purple lightning in the sky finally began to fade slowly, disappearing... as if its very appearance had been to welcome this entity.
Jun Moyan and his party, hurrying through the grove, just missed this strange spectacle.
They walked past a "corpse," continuing their journey.
They completely failed to notice that the "corpse" slowly lifted its head...
A surge of killing intent from behind made Jun Moyan stop in his tracks and spin around abruptly.
The "corpse" that had been on the ground just moments before was now standing up, its gun brazenly aimed at Jun Moyan.
Almost the moment Jun Moyan turned around, the assailant had already pulled the trigger.
"Bang!"
The gunshot rang out, blood sprayed, splattering Jun Moyan's face.
"Meow~"
A painful cat's meow sounded at the same time as the gunshot, echoing through the entire grove.
This cat's meow was piercing to the ear, as if it had endured extreme torture.
Jun Moyan stared at the pinkish-white clump that had fallen from the sky and had just blocked the bullet for him, momentarily stunned.
Seeing that the first shot had missed, the assailant aimed to fire again.
Jun Moyan and the man in white snapped back to reality and simultaneously threw their bloodied daggers.
One struck the assailant's throat, the other hit the forehead.
The man slowly fell, finally and completely dead.
