Bleach: I Have No Talent

Chapter 22: 21: Weird Encounter

Shiro's eyes widened in shock. For a moment, he wondered if he was hallucinating, but he quickly dismissed the thought and spoke with a shaky voice.

"You spoke just now?"

Before he could even process his words, a sudden glow enveloped the cat.

Shiro instinctively shielded his eyes, and when the light faded, he uncovered them, only to find a naked woman standing in front of him. She was slender yet athletically fit, with an average height, dark skin, golden irises, and waist-length black hair tied in a ponytail. Chin-length bangs framed the sides of her face.

Shiro swallowed hard, his face flushing. He immediately turned toward the wall, muttering, "What the hell is this? First a talking cat, and now a naked woman?"

Without looking back, Shiro quickly removed his academy uniform coat and held it out toward her, still not facing her.

"Aren't you a gentleman?" the woman said as she threw Shiro's coat over her shoulders.

Shiro's face turned bright red, and he kept his gaze fixed on the wall. When he heard her drape his coat over her, he slowly turned around, his face still flushed. Though he was embarrassed, he tried to play it cool and asked, "Who are you? Are you the cat?"

The woman replied calmly, "My name is Yoruichi. Yoruichi Shihōin."

Shiro's eyes widened. He had heard the name before. Anyone at Shin'ō Academy knew the Shihōin surname—one of the Four Great Noble Families of Soul Society. From what he recalled, Yoruichi should be the Head of the Shihōin Clan and also the Captain of the Second Division of the Onmitsukidō.

As the realization sank in, Shiro couldn't help but feel the weight of his situation. He didn't want to, but instinctively, he bowed and said, "Please forgive me for seeing you like this."

Yoruichi chuckled softly, watching Shiro bow awkwardly. She gave him a playful smile, clearly enjoying his discomfort. "No need to apologize," she said casually, tossing her hair back. "Though, I have to admit, you caught my interest. Most people would give up after a little chase, but you? You actually tried to catch me. You have guts."

Shiro straightened up, still a bit flustered, and scratched the back of his head. "I… I didn't expect to actually catch you," he muttered, trying to play it cool but clearly still embarrassed.

Yoruichi smirked, her golden eyes gleaming with mischief. "Oh, I know. You're quick, but not quick enough. Still, I find it amusing." She took a step closer to him, her tone turning a bit softer. "I don't get many people chasing after me like that. What's your name, kid?"

Shiro hesitated for a moment, but then shrugged. "It's Shiro."

Yoruichi raised an eyebrow, a playful smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Shiro, huh? You're quite the interesting one, Shiro. Keep surprising me, and you might just make things even more fun around here."

Shiro looked up at Yoruichi, trying to hide his discomfort but failing miserably. She was intimidating in her own playful way, and he didn't quite know how to respond.

"Fun, huh?" Shiro said, trying to regain some control of the conversation. "What do you mean by that?"

Yoruichi leaned against the wall casually, her arms crossed. "Well, you're a lot more stubborn than most. Most people would've quit chasing me after I dodged them a few times. But you? You kept pushing. That kind of persistence... It's rare around here." She gave him a teasing look. "I think you might just have potential."

Shiro couldn't help but feel a bit awkward at the attention. He wasn't used to being praised or even noticed by someone of her caliber. "I don't know about that. I'm just trying to get through this academy," he said, shrugging. "It's not like I'm special or anything."

Yoruichi chuckled softly, her golden eyes sparkling with amusement. "Don't be so modest. You're here for a reason, right? You've got that fire in you. I like that."

Shiro blinked, taken aback by the words. It was rare for someone to call him out like that, especially someone as confident and powerful as Yoruichi. "I guess... I'm just trying to survive."

"Survival's a good enough reason," Yoruichi said with a smirk. "But I think you're capable of more than that. Maybe I'll keep an eye on you. You never know what kind of surprises you'll bring."

Shiro wasn't sure how to respond. The situation was still so bizarre, and he hadn't expected to find himself in a conversation with someone like her, especially not after nearly breaking his legs chasing after a cat. He just nodded awkwardly, still unsure what exactly was going on.

Shiro stood on his sore but thankfully unbroken legs.

"Thanks for healing me," he said, his voice still a little shaky from the ordeal.

He then asked, "Can you walk me out? I have to get back to the academy or my friends will worry about me."

Yoruichi gave him a small, amused smile. "I suppose I can't let them worry about you too much," she replied, walking toward him with a casual grace.

As they walked outside the large house, Shiro paused and turned to face her. He watched as she casually draped his school uniform's coat over her shoulders, still looking as relaxed as ever.

"Can you give me back the coat the next time we meet?" Shiro asked, his voice steady, though a bit awkward from the whole situation.

Yoruichi gave him a playful glance, "You'll have to earn it back next time. It's a souvenir for now."

Without another word, Shiro turned and began walking back toward the academy, feeling the weight of the strange encounter still lingering in his mind.

As Shiro slowly walked toward the Shin'ō Academy, his mind couldn't help but wander back to the moment he saw Yoruichi... naked.

Shiro slapped his cheeks, muttering to himself, "I'm not a pervert. Stop having such thoughts."

After about six minutes of walking, Shiro finally arrived at the Shin'ō Academy. It was already starting to get dark. He headed straight to the dorms, and as he opened the door to the room, he found Aizen and Haruto waiting for him, deep in conversation.

"You're back," Aizen said, glancing up as Shiro entered.

"Yeah, took longer than expected," Shiro replied, giving a small shrug as he closed the door behind him.

Haruto grinned, "Got into any trouble while you were out?"

Shiro glanced at both of them, his mind still racing from the events of the day. "Not really," he said, though the look on his face told a different story.

Aizen raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. "Something's on your mind," he observed, his tone calm but perceptive.

Shiro hesitated for a moment, trying to suppress the thoughts swirling in his head. "Just... a strange encounter. That's all."

Haruto chuckled, leaning back in his chair. "A strange encounter, huh? Sounds like something interesting happened."

Shiro gave him a wary glance, "You could say that. But it's not the kind of thing I want to talk about right now."

"Fair enough," Aizen said smoothly, his expression unreadable as always. "But if anything's bothering you, you know where to find me."

Shiro nodded, though he wasn't entirely sure he'd want to bring up the encounter with Yoruichi just yet. It was too weird, and he wasn't sure how they'd react to it.

After a brief pause, Haruto stood up. "Well, I think we should all get some rest. Tomorrow's going to be another long day of lessons."

Shiro agreed, feeling the exhaustion from the day weigh on him. He didn't even bother to unpack his thoughts for now. He just wanted to sleep.

"Goodnight, guys," Shiro muttered, heading for his bed. Aizen and Haruto gave him a casual nod as they settled into their own spots.

The room grew quiet, and as Shiro lay down, his mind finally began to settle. But even with his eyes closed, he couldn't completely shake the strange feeling Yoruichi had left him with.

He eventually drifted off to sleep, the events of the day playing in his mind like a blurred memory he couldn't quite piece together.
