Bleach: I Have No Talent

Chapter 26: 25: Substitute Teacher

Shiro woke up, blinking as his eyes adjusted to the soft morning light filtering into the dorm room. He glanced around and noticed Aizen and Haruto still sound asleep.

This was a rare moment—it was the first time he had woken up before them.

Letting out a quiet sigh, he stretched and got out of bed. After tidying his space, he headed to the bathroom to freshen up. The sound of water running seemed to rouse Aizen and Haruto, who began to stir and slowly wake.

Inside the bathroom, Shiro stood in front of the mirror, droplets of water sliding down his face. He studied his reflection, his body noticeably lean and toned. His muscles weren't overly bulky or exaggerated but carried the definition of a disciplined athlete.

Satisfied, Shiro grabbed a towel, dried himself off, and stepped out of the bathroom to see Aizen and Haruto sitting up in their beds, looking groggy.

As Shiro dressed, Aizen smirked and broke the morning silence. "Did you hear? Instructor Kenta's missing from the school. We're getting a substitute for Hohō class."

Haruto raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. "Missing? That's not something you hear every day. What do you think happened?"

Shiro paused, fastening his uniform. "No idea. But a substitute could be interesting. Let's hope they actually teach us something useful."

Haruto chuckled, rubbing the back of his head. "Yeah, as long as they don't make us run drills all day."

Aizen leaned back, his tone playful yet sharp. "I wouldn't get my hopes up. With our luck, it'll be someone who thinks running in circles builds character."

Shiro allowed a faint smile to form. "Guess we'll find out soon enough."

With that, the three finished getting ready and headed out for their first class of the day.

Shiro, Aizen, and Haruto were chatting as they walked toward their Hohō lesson, the morning air buzzing with energy.

Haruto stretched lazily. "I hope this substitute isn't the type to push us too hard. My legs are still sore from yesterday."

Aizen smirked. "If they're anything like Kenta, they'll have us running drills until we drop. Maybe it's time to start practicing fake injuries."

Shiro shook his head, a faint smile playing on his lips. "Let's just hope they're not the kind who enjoy embarrassing students for fun."

Haruto raised an eyebrow. "You sound like you're speaking from experience."

"Maybe," Shiro replied, keeping his voice light, though he couldn't shake the unease creeping into his chest.

The trio entered the classroom and took their usual seats next to each other. As the rest of the class settled in, Shiro's attention drifted toward the door. He couldn't help but wonder who their substitute teacher would be.

When the door slid open and Yoruichi stepped in, Shiro's heart sank.

Of all people... why her?

Shiro groaned inwardly. He knew how much Yoruichi loved to tease him, and the thought of enduring her antics in front of the entire class was mortifying. Please don't recognize me. Please just treat me like everyone else, he silently pleaded.

But, as usual, he underestimated her.

The moment Yoruichi entered, her sharp golden eyes scanned the room. Her gaze landed on Shiro almost immediately, and her lips curved into a knowing smile.

Shiro felt a chill run down his spine. Great... she noticed.

Yoruichi didn't say anything directly, but the amused glint in her eyes said enough. Shiro avoided her gaze and stared straight ahead, hoping she wouldn't make a scene.

"Alright, everyone," Yoruichi began, her voice calm yet commanding. "I'm your substitute instructor for Hohō today. Let's see how quick on your feet you all are."

She gestured for the class to follow her to the training grounds. Shiro trailed behind Aizen and Haruto, keeping his head down, but he could feel her presence, her eyes lingering on him more than they should.

Once outside, Yoruichi wasted no time. "Shunpo isn't just about speed. It's about precision, control, and timing. I want each of you to push your limits today."

She demonstrated with an effortless burst of speed, disappearing from one spot and reappearing on the other side of the field in the blink of an eye. The students murmured in awe, but Shiro knew Yoruichi was holding back—probably for their sake.

As the students began their drills, Yoruichi moved among them, offering tips and corrections. However, her attention seemed disproportionately focused on Shiro. Every time he attempted a Shunpo, he could feel her gaze tracking his movements.

And then, it happened.

A system screen suddenly appeared before Shiro, its bright glow catching his attention.

[System Notification]

New Quest: Impress Yoruichi with your Shunpo

Reward: +0.70% Progress

Penalty: Yoruichi will stop talking to you.

Accept?

Yes/No

Shiro's heart skipped a beat at the penalty. The thought of Yoruichi ignoring him, even with all her teasing, was oddly unsettling.

With a resigned sigh, he selected Yes.

As the lesson progressed, Shiro, Haruto, and Aizen worked on their Shunpo techniques, each trying to match the standards Yoruichi set. Though Yoruichi was mostly observing Shiro, she still took time to offer guidance to the others, walking between them with her usual confident stride.

"Haruto, you're lagging behind a little," she called out, her voice light but with an edge of amusement. "Keep your focus. Shunpo isn't just about speed—it's about flow. Your body has to be one with the movement."

Haruto nodded, eager to improve, while Aizen seemed to be moving with unnatural fluidity, impressing Yoruichi with his precise footwork. Shiro couldn't help but notice the way Yoruichi's gaze lingered on Aizen for just a second longer than necessary, a spark of curiosity in her eyes. It wasn't lost on him, and a slight frown tugged at his lips.

But he quickly focused on his own form.

He darted across the field, weaving between obstacles and practicing sudden directional shifts. Sweat dripped down his face, his body aching from the effort.

"Impressive," Yoruichi finally said, her voice close. Shiro glanced up to see her standing a few feet away, arms crossed, with a satisfied smirk. "Keep that up, and you might just catch up to me someday."

Shiro's cheeks flushed, but he nodded, determined to maintain his composure.

By the end of the lesson, Shiro was utterly spent, but a small system notification appeared, making it all worth it:
