Broken Possessors of Infinite Regression Academy

Chapter 57

I kept holding onto Gloria’s neck and dragged her into the room, then roughly tossed her onto the bed. Gloria, lying face down on the bed, gasped for air, clutching her throat and struggling to breathe.

“You really came with intent, didn’t you?”

I wasn’t mistaken after all. She wasn’t wearing anything under the translucent negligee. The fabric was even thinner than it appeared from the outside, making it look like she was wearing something and nothing at the same time.

I locked the door and used a soundproofing spell to block out any noise. Respecting each other’s privacy must have included at least soundproofing spells, which wouldn’t be detected by the detection barrier.

Then, as I turned around, Gloria, with her neck now visibly red, was glaring at me while still clutching her throat.

“What are you… cough… going to do?”

As expected, I was not used to see Priscilla with a fierce face. (the sisters have similar face) Except for those rare moments when she became fierce, she was always so gentle that I worried about her whenever she did.

“If I refuse, you’ll scream that you almost got raped. Wouldn’t it be less unfair to actually commit it and then get reported?”

“…You’re insane.”

“I could say the same about you.”

We had started using informal speech with each other without realizing it. Well, I had lost any reason to be courteous to that human, and she had practically shown her true colors.

“…Fine. You’re a man too, aren’t you? Since we’re in this situation, do whatever you want.”

As I approached, Gloria’s face, which had been a mixture of confusion and anger, began to relax slightly. Provocatively spreading her legs, she looked up at me.

“If you satisfy me, we’ll forget about this incident. So you better shake things up as much as you can. Got it? If you’re good, maybe I’ll call you again next time?”

Even in this situation, she tried to take control, showing that she was truly a woman who knew her worth. Or perhaps she was extremely rational and calculating to the point of being almost inhumane.

“You think you can manipulate me with that offer?”

“….”

However, her relaxed expression immediately hardened when she saw that I remained unfazed. From the start, I had no intention of complying. Even saying that committing the act would be less unfair was just a bluff to see her reaction.

“Well, what are you going to do?”

Approaching closely, I held her left index finger. Gloria looked at me with an anxious expression, questioning.

“You’ll see.”

I broke her finger. A sickening crack echoed in the room, slightly quieter than the sound from the Duke’s hand earlier, as the bones shattered and bent backward. Her fingernail touched the back of her hand.

When I let go of her hand, Gloria clutched her broken, dangling finger and gritted her teeth in pain.

“You… you crazy bastard…”

“As crazy as I might be, I’m not as insane as you. Why do you keep making me repeat myself?”

“Do you think you’ll get away with this…? You’re from a house with nothing but money, and you think you can mess with the Duke’s eldest daughter and go unpunished…? Just wait, once I get out of here, I’ll tell my father everything…! He’ll skin you alive and hang you up!”

She was right. No matter how wealthy the Crate family was, they hadn’t fully entrenched themselves in power. If the Duke’s family decided to take action, especially with the excuse of defending their daughter, the Crate family would be obliterated.

“Messed with you? What did I do? You came in the middle of the night, wearing a see-through negligee, trying to seduce me, and I just brought you into the room and threw you on the bed?”

“You don’t know what you did?! You just… broke my finger…”

Gloria, who had been pointing accusingly, suddenly realized that the finger she was holding out was her left index finger, and she froze in shock. Her light brown eyes widened.

“I’m asking you. What did I do? Can’t answer?”

“This… this doesn’t make any sense… What is this? What did you do to me?”

“Who knows. Why don’t you use that brilliant mind of yours to figure it out?”

What I had used was, of course, a healing spell. It was of the lowest level, so the distinctive green light was very faint, and Gloria had been too busy confronting me to notice it.

“An illusion or hallucination spell? No, it can’t be. If someone used an illusion or hallucination spell that could cause pain, it would’ve been detected by the barrier… So what was it?”

Gloria bit her nails anxiously as she pondered. I grabbed her left index finger again.

“You don’t seem to be getting it. Let me help you.”

“Wait a minute! Wait—Aaaargh!”

Her left index finger once again touched the back of her hand. Perhaps due to the sweat on her skin, the translucent negligee gradually clung to her body, revealing her curves. It was quite an enticing sight, but none of us in the room paid any attention to that.

“Watch carefully. Don’t miss it because you’re too busy feeling pain.”

I used a slightly higher-tier healing spell this time. Gloria, seeing her finger quickly return to its original state while enveloped in a green light, looked at me with an expression of disbelief.

“What… what is that… it’s not divine power… divine power is white… how…”

“Right. It’s not divine power. What do you think it is? Here’s a hint: it’s not an illusion or hallucination. Your finger really did break just now, and it really did heal. Surely, you can guess that much?”

After a moment of contemplation, Gloria’s eyes widened rapidly.

“…Healing magic?”

“Correct.”

“That’s impossible! There’s no such thing! If healing magic existed, it would have been discovered long ago!”

“You have a hard time believing people, don’t you? Should I show you again? Would that convince you?”

As I reached for her left index finger again, Gloria, realizing the situation, desperately shook her head. It seemed she didn’t want her finger broken again. I let go of her hand. Gloria scrambled back on the bed, trying to get away from me. She only managed to put about a king-sized bed’s distance between us.

“Very few people know about this, just two at most. So, why did I show you this precious ability?”

“…How should I know?”

“Why do you think? It means I have no intention of letting you leave here sane. No matter what I do to you, as long as you’re alive, I can erase all the evidence. Everything that happened here and the healing magic, I’ll make you forget it all.”

Finally, realizing the gravity of her situation, Gloria’s face turned pale. Her actions were quick; as soon as she understood her predicament, she made a desperate attempt to escape.

Of course, from her perspective, it might have seemed like a desperate escape, but in reality, it was nothing more than a woman awkwardly trying to run away.

She wasn’t even using body reinforcement or any other magic, so her speed was laughably slow. Whether she couldn’t use it or just wasn’t thinking to use it, I wasn’t going to let her escape.

Crack!

“Aaaahhhh!”

I stomped on her ankle, breaking it. Gloria, who hadn’t gotten far, collapsed on the floor, clutching her twisted ankle and trembling. Despite the pain, she didn’t cry, showing how tough she was. She truly lived up to her fierce reputation.

“I told you not to do anything unnecessary. Why do you keep making me repeat myself?”

This was a method I often used when dealing with troublesome demon prisoners. If you broke their ankles, escaping on their own became virtually impossible. By the end of the war, we had no need to capture demons, so we killed them on sight.

I picked up the trembling Gloria and placed her on the sofa. I didn’t bother to heal her ankle. I briefly considered making it symmetrical but decided against it.

Gloria, slumped on the sofa, suddenly changed her attitude and began to beg.

“I was wrong. I won’t do it again. So, can’t you let me go? I promise I won’t say a word about what happened today. I’ll keep my mouth shut. Please?”

“I’m doing this because I have no intention of letting you go unharmed. You’re only saying sorry now, but if I let you go, you’ll change your mind immediately, won’t you?”

I’ve seen plenty of people like her. They have no pride and can change their attitude at the drop of a hat. Pitying them is a waste.

“I swear I won’t—”

I twisted her left index finger again, cutting her off mid-sentence. Gloria clammed up.

“Don’t worry. As long as you answer properly, you won’t get hurt. Why would I hurt someone who answers truthfully?”

Of course, I didn’t mention that I’d mess with her mind before letting her go. No need to give her any false hopes.

“…Fine. Ask me anything. I’ll tell you whatever you want. Secrets of the Agnes duchy, or any other noble. As long as I know, I’ll tell you everything.”

I let go of her finger. Gloria winced as she finally felt the pain in her ankle. I used a healing spell on her twisted ankle, and it quickly returned to its original state.

It’s not good to push too hard. You have to give a bit of hope to get them to talk.

“I have something I’m curious about.”

“Sure… What is it?”

“Unfortunately, I can’t seem to remember what that is.”

“…What?”

“So, until I remember, you’ll need to tell me everything you know.”

That was a lie. There wasn’t anything specific I wanted to know. I just figured I might as well get as much information as I could while I had the chance.

Considering that she’d been dealing with succubi since before Priscilla’s regression at age 15, she probably wouldn’t hesitate to talk. If she was dealing with demons even before I took over this body, it meant that my presence hadn’t altered her course of action. And dealings with demons are, without a doubt, a bad thing.

“Are you insane? Are you trying to suck me dry? Born into that kind of family, I thought you were just a pretty-faced nobleman, but you’re actually a complete thug, aren’t you?”

She didn’t give in easily. She seemed to have realized my intentions and her face turned fierce again. The fact that she could look so defiant even after having her ankle broken was impressive. Insulting my family too—she had some guts.

“You don’t want to?”

Of course, I had plenty of ways to make her talk.

Gloria’s misdeeds hadn’t changed much from the original storyline. That meant she was still dealing with succubi, and had been since she was 17.

To put it another way, Gloria has been colluding with demons for nearly eight years now. Since she started when Priscilla was 11, it wasn’t something us reincarnators could have influenced.

‘So, there are that many nobles already enthralled by them?’

Additionally, I managed to obtain much more valuable information than I had expected. Many nobles were enthralled by succubi, and, as I suspected, the Starlight Order had fallen into corruption.

‘But there’s no concrete evidence to support any of this…’

Gloria was confident that there were no traces of succubi left on her body or anywhere else in the empire. Moreover, those who were ensnared by the pheromones would cover for each other, creating fake alibis and evidence. They would never testify against the succubi.

‘She really is a queen for a reason.’

From what I gathered, at least 20% of the empire’s nobles had fallen under the succubi’s influence, and yet, they managed to leave no evidence behind. As expected, a legion commander is a legion commander.

“Well then, let’s meet again next time.”

“Yes. I look forward to it.”

The next morning, the duke and I parted ways with another handshake. This time, it was a genuine handshake rather than the power struggle disguised as one we had before. The duke offered for me to stay at the mansion until the evening, but I politely declined. After bidding farewell to the duchess, I turned to Gloria.

“I hope to see you again someday, Lady Gloria.”

“Ah, uh…”

Gloria, with a terrified expression, lightly grasped her dress and bowed her head to me in a way that no one else could see.

“Take care of your head. You had a slight bump, and it would be terrible if it left a scar.”

I lightly tapped my forehead with my finger, and Gloria, knowing the meaning behind it, broke out in a cold sweat. I had cast a spell that would cause her entire body to melt if she even thought about revealing anything related to me.

Honestly, even I didn’t fully understand this spell. The idea that it could react to specific thoughts was baffling.

“Yeah… thanks for the concern. I’ll be careful.”

Gloria forced a smile. She had tried to write about what happened that night but experienced the sensation of her body melting. If I hadn’t healed her quickly, she would have died.

Of course, such a thing is impossible with divine healing.

Priscilla was smiling brightly as she watched her sister. She had been like that ever since she saw Gloria begging for her life at midnight.

“Be sure to visit during the break. I’m not just saying that.”

“Understood.”

With that final farewell, we boarded the carriage. The carriage crossed a dimensional gate and dropped Priscilla and me off at the academy before disappearing again.

“What are you going to do now, Mira?”

“First, I need to sort through everything I heard. There was just too much.”

I had received an overwhelming amount of information. The side effect of telling her to spill everything she knew was that she even disclosed intimate details like her erogenous zones. I couldn’t help but be incredulous when she trembled at my disinterest in such trivialities.

“And then…”

‘And?’

‘I have a test.’

I have to do the midterm exams tomorrow.
