Chapter 20: **Chapter 20: Xiao Xun'er's Suspicion**

**Chapter 20: Xiao Xun'er's Suspicion**

"Xun'er, I don't even know Miss Ya Fei. Why would she suddenly invite me?"

After Xiao Zhan left, Xiao Yan sat in confusion, unable to understand Ya Fei's motives.

"Is she trying to humiliate me?"

"Brother Xiao Yan, do you know who Ya Fei really is?"

A faint smile appeared on Xiao Xun'er's delicate and elegant face.

"I have no idea. Do you know, Sister Xun'er?"

Xiao Yan frowned, glancing at Xun'er in curiosity.

"In the Jia Ma Empire, there are three major families. Ya Fei is from the Mittel family—the wealthiest of them all."

Xun'er smiled gently, continuing, "She's a direct descendant of the Mittel family and manages the auction house here in Wutan City almost entirely by herself."

"The Mittel family?!"

Xiao Yan's eyes widened in surprise.

The Xiao family was insignificant compared to the powerful Mittel clan.

No wonder his father agreed to attend the banquet so readily. Refusing such an invitation could easily offend Ya Fei—something they couldn't afford.

"Sister Xun'er, how do you know all this?"

Xiao Yan's curiosity deepened.

"Even my father might not know these details. How did you find out?"

Xun'er paused briefly but responded with a soft smile, avoiding his question.

Seeing her evasiveness, Xiao Yan sighed, dropping the matter.

Despite sharing the surname Xiao, Xun'er had no blood ties to him. Her mysterious background only fueled his curiosity, yet any inquiries about her parents were met with silence—or his father's reluctance to speak.

His father's usual warm demeanor would shift to discomfort, as if Xun'er's origins were a taboo subject.

There was even a trace of… fear.

To Xiao Yan, Xun'er's identity was a puzzle, but no matter how he probed, she always deflected with grace and silence.

"Alright, it's getting late. Sister Xun'er, you should get some rest."

Glancing at the darkening sky, Xiao Yan shook his head. Without pressing further, he turned and walked away.

Xun'er watched him leave, her expression calm and unreadable, as if untouched by the world—like a lotus blooming in still water.

A long silence passed before she softly spoke, her voice carrying a serene yet commanding undertone.

"Uncle Ying, come out."

From behind a large tree, a shadow silently emerged, bowing respectfully.

"Miss, do you have instructions?"

The man, clad in black, addressed her with reverence.

"Follow Brother Xiao Yan tomorrow and protect him. Also, keep an eye on Miss Ya Fei. I want to know her intentions."

Xun'er's voice, calm but firm, left no room for negotiation.

"Understood, Miss."

The shadow responded swiftly and vanished into the darkness once more.

Xun'er's gaze lingered on the path Xiao Yan had taken, her brow furrowing slightly.

"Why did she invite Brother Xiao Yan out of the blue? What is she planning?"

A flicker of coldness crossed her usually gentle features.

"Whatever your reasons are, I hope they're harmless… or else."

By noon, sunlight streamed through the windows.

The bed was in disarray, evidence of the passion from the previous night.

Chen Feng lay beside Ya Fei, holding her soft body as she slept peacefully.

Carefully, Ya Fei slipped out of his embrace. She gazed at Chen Feng's sleeping face, a soft smile gracing her lips.

Without disturbing him, she quietly got dressed and washed.

Returning to the bedside, she gently nudged him.

"Brother Chen Feng, it's getting late. Xiao Zhan and his son should be arriving soon."

Chen Feng's eyes fluttered open. Squinting at the sunlight outside, he stretched lazily.

"It's already this late?"

Remembering the luncheon with the Xiao family, he sat up, brushing off his drowsiness.

As a true disciple of the Yunlan Sect, he couldn't afford to appear disheveled during their first meeting.

"Sister Ya Fei, why don't you join me for a bath?"

Grinning slyly, Chen Feng accepted the robe she handed him.

Ya Fei, now elegantly dressed, rolled her eyes at him.

"I've already bathed."

"Oh? Are you sure you're completely clean? Maybe I should check."

Before she could protest, Chen Feng scooped her into his arms and carried her toward the bathroom.

"Put me down, you scoundrel!"

Ya Fei squirmed, but Chen Feng's strength easily overpowered her.

"Alright, I'll do it myself!"

Realizing resistance was futile, Ya Fei relented and stepped into the bathroom on her own.

"Brother Chen Feng, let me scrub your back."

Chen Feng smirked, nodding in approval.

Ya Fei gracefully removed her outer garment, stepping behind him.

In public, she was a goddess—dignified and unattainable. Countless men admired her from afar.

Yet with Chen Feng, she set aside that facade, humbling herself to please him.

In a world where strength dictated status, weaker individuals naturally lowered themselves before the strong.

Ya Fei understood this well. As someone with limited cultivation, she had little choice but to adapt and survive.

If pleasing Chen Feng meant securing his favor and protection, then she was willing to endure.

The bath concluded.

Chen Feng stood before the mirror, carefully adjusting his robes.

Ya Fei, meanwhile, tidied the room.

The events of the previous night had left the room in chaos, with telltale signs everywhere.

Blushing faintly, Ya Fei chose to clean it herself rather than involving the servants.

Despite her composed exterior, even she felt embarrassed by the aftermath.

"Let's go. Xiao Zhan and his son should be arriving any moment now."

Chen Feng straightened his robes one final time.

As they stepped outside, Xiao Zhan and Xiao Yan approached the manor gates.
