Chapter 252 - Overcome with Emotions
After discussing the matters of the military camp, Lin Changfeng asked, “Is it true that the Second Prince has reached the level of a seventh-tier warrior?”
Hebrew Adam had only recently broken through, and not many people knew yet. The fact that Lin Changfeng had this information so quickly suggested he had strong connections with the imperial capital.
Ruo Manni nodded, “He was ambushed, and during a critical moment, he broke through.”
Fang Yaxi noticed a hint of gloom in Ruo Manni’s expression and assumed she was worried about the Second Prince’s safety. She patted Ruo Manni’s hand reassuringly and said, “This was a blessing in disguise. Now that he’s a seventh-tier warrior, it won’t be so easy for anyone to assassinate him.”
Ruo Manni nodded in agreement.
“Any idea who those assassins were?” Lin Changfeng asked, frowning. The audacity to attack the Second Prince suggested that the forces behind it were no small matter.
Ruo Manni hesitated, unsure how to explain that this assassination attempt had been orchestrated by Hebrew Adam himself as part of a multi-layered strategy.
“Uncle Lin, how are things going with the Seventh Corps?” Ruo Manni asked, steering the conversation.
“Not great,” Lin Changfeng replied, “The corps has been dealing with internal unrest over the last couple of years and is now considered the weakest among the fifteen. Three years ago, when Topaz Star’s military officially separated from the Seventh Corps, they couldn’t act openly, but they’ve been causing plenty of trouble in the shadows. Most of the opposition forces on Topaz Star are aligned with the Seventh Corps, and I’ve captured more than twenty assassins they’ve sent after me.”
Ruo Manni was surprised to hear about the assassination attempts; no wonder the Crown Prince was so intent on removing the Beery family from power.
…
At the agreed-upon time, as soon as Ruo Manni logged into the war realm, Hebrew Adam took her hand. This was the first time Hebrew Adam had shown such public affection toward Ruo Manni, and it immediately drew the attention of those around them.
Brittany Beery’s obsession with the Second Prince was well known throughout the guild.
But in every respect, Ruo Manni was far superior to Brittany Beery. She was also the Second Prince’s official partner, and for the past few years, Ruo Manni had been the only one by his side. So, despite Brittany Beery’s attempts to spread rumors, implying that Ruo Manni was an intruder in her relationship with the Second Prince, few people believed her. Aside from a handful of individuals with ulterior motives, most simply saw Brittany’s behavior as shameless.
Since graduating from military academy, Ruo Manni and her fellow guild founders spent most of their time in the war realm training and no longer participated in team missions. They had almost become peripheral members of the guild. A few months prior, Hebrew Adam, Hua Deli, and Ruo Manni had even stepped down from their guild positions, leaving the roles of guild president and vice president to their juniors.
With their current strength levels, once they came of age, they would move to the youth division, where the challenges in the dungeons would finally match their abilities.
Both within Xuan Gu First Military Academy and among the players in the Imperial City’s number one guild in the war realm, the twelve elite students from the 960th class were already spoken of as legends.
Hebrew Adam held Ruo Manni’s hand tightly, as if afraid she might escape. Ruo Manni, not wanting to struggle in front of so many onlookers, went along and walked quickly with him.
With Hua Deli and Dean Atchison absent from the hall, there was no one to stop Hebrew Adam from acting as he wished, and he led Ruo Manni straight to his private lounge.
Hebrew Adam’s private lounge was a place Ruo Manni had only visited a few times before with her friends, but she had never been there alone with him. Ruo Manni always tried to follow the old Earth-era rules of decorum, avoiding situations where she’d be alone in a room with a boy.
As they entered, she instinctively tried to pull her hand away, but he turned toward her, stepping closer. Ruo Manni backed up on instinct.
Before she knew it, she was pressed against the wall, and his hands were gently holding her face. Startled, she looked up, realizing what he was about to do.
With her hands against Hebrew Adam’s chest, she stammered, “You…”
“I’m just so happy…” he whispered softly, before leaning down and brushing his lips against hers.
This was something he had imagined countless times but never dared to do.
At first, Ruo Manni was too shocked to react. Unprepared and inexperienced, she froze. Eventually, it dawned on her that she should resist, and she pushed against his chest, her hands still trapped between them.
He was caught off guard and pulled back slightly, breathing heavily. But then, he took her hands in his, held her tightly, and kissed her again with renewed intensity.
The warmth of his embrace and the fervent kiss left Ruo Manni’s mind blank, her body weak.
Just as she felt completely overwhelmed, a sharp, mechanical voice cut through the haze, ringing in her ear: “Warning, warning: Player is underage. Inappropriate intimate behavior is prohibited.”
Although Ruo Manni heard the warning loud and clear, she was still too dazed to process it fully. However, Hebrew Adam froze instantly, stopping all movement before sighing in frustration and holding her tightly, murmuring by her ear with labored breaths, “Damn it.”
Ruo Manni finally understood what had happened: as Hebrew Adam’s kiss grew more intense and he began to lose control, the SkyNet rules had intervened with a warning against inappropriate behavior.
For boys, this rule was probably infuriatingly restrictive, but for girls, it was undoubtedly the safest protection. It also had the bonus effect of teasing, allowing them to be just out of reach.
Honestly, it wasn’t really a suitable moment for laughter, but Ruo Manni couldn’t help herself and began to laugh.
Holding her close, Hebrew Adam could feel her body trembling with laughter. When he looked up, sure enough, she was smiling.
Without asking, he knew that she was laughing at his predicament. Her reaction amused him, and the intensity of his desire eased slightly in the face of her playful response.
“You little tease,” Hebrew Adam muttered, half-amused and half-regretful.
Ruo Manni didn’t reply, nestled contentedly in his solid embrace. His strong arms made her feel soft and delicate in a way she found unexpectedly pleasant. She wanted to stay this way a bit longer and didn’t try to pull away.
She had come here today to answer his feelings. Though things had taken a surprisingly intense turn, everything felt right, even without words.
Realizing her quiet affection, Hebrew Adam hugged her more tightly, and a sense of deep satisfaction washed over him like never before.
If he had only speculated before, today’s kiss and Ruo Manni’s reaction confirmed everything for him. Their relationship had officially been established, and he no longer had to worry about uncertainty.
As he thought about this, feeling the soft body in his arms so yielding, Hebrew Adam’s previously calmed desire began to surge again. He couldn’t help but lean in to kiss the girl’s rosy cheek.
Sensing that the boy holding her was once again unable to resist kissing her, and since they had already kissed before, Ruo Manni felt no urge to resist. Without realizing it, she instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck, submitting to his intentions.
But in the midst of their muddled emotions, the cold warning voice of the SkyNet rang out once more…
