Chapter 16: Chapter 16
Aisha.
Michael came and picked me up at 4:30am. I did not really have much time to settle everything before the eve. Especially due to my classes and other things i had to deal with before leaving. I had hardly had two hours of sleep the previous night as I slept at 1:45am, because I was packing my stuffs. Yea, i need minimum 6 hours of sleep to be well rested if not that's merely taking a nap for me, and my usual napping time is two hours minimum. Yep, I love sleeping that much. Now here is the tricky part of the whole story: I don't easy fall asleep. Like, I could be in bed for 30minutes or so before the sleep ensues. And again, I'm a light sleeper; the slightest movement, noise, or light gets me out of sleep. Strange combo but I'm just like that. Thanks to Kimberly and Toni, I had probably not even be able to sleep at all. I'm a very indecisive person when it came to clothes, so I needed their help to be able to get my stuff together. If not I would have taken my entire closet to DC.
We were presently in his private jet which took off about 40 minutes ago. Our destination was Washington. I was tired though, but my eagerness kept me awake. I had never been there, and really wanted to see how it looked like. I looked out of the window watching the clouds which the plane by-passed and the cities below.
"You could use some sleep if you're still tired." I heard him say from the other column opposite to me.
I looked up to him. He probably had seen the bags under my eyes.
"I'm fine. I can manage." I replied whiping beneath my eyes to clear off any visible sign of tiredness.
"That's not what your eyes say." He replied.
He exhaled bending his head before lifting it up to look at me once again.
"I know you got up kind of too early but I just wanted us to be there on time. But you need to rest. You could see the most beautiful part when we're on land again. Ok." he said . His tone was so soft and gentle. Almost ... caring.
"Ok." I replied without resisting. I lay down using the bean shaped pillows to support my head and covered myself with the blanket.
"What about you? Won't you take a rest." I asked
"I'll. Later, I've got to do work." he replied
I nodded my head in acknowledgement.Workaholic much. He is always so serious and stuck up. Does he not have other things in mind aside from work?
I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep. About 40minutes or more should have passed while I was asleep when I felt a tap on my arm.
"Hmm." I responded reluctantly, not really ready to open my eyes.
"Hey. You need to wake up." He spoke in a soft tone almost like a whisper.
"Are we there yet?" I asked a little sleepily.
"Yeah we just landed. We need to leave now for the hotel." He said.
"Already! We barely made an hour of flight." I said which made him chuckle. A soft husky laugh which I had say was definitely sexy. Fun about it was, he wasn't even trying.
"New York to Washington is a long trip, but we go faster in a private jet than in the average normal plane you know." He said.
"Yeah but still." I said sitting up. I looked around trying to access my surroundings. "I really need to rest." I finally said before trying to stand up. Michael came to my side to help me up.
"I'm not incapacitated you know?" I said finally standing up.
"To avoid any incident." he replied simply then wrapped a black scarf over my head to cover my face. Of course we could not take the risk to be seen. The media had take the story to a whole other level and It had be very compromising for his reputation.
"Shall we go?" He asked and I nodded in respond. "Don't worry. You have enough time to rest when we get settled."
We moved out of the jet and passed through the back road to get to the car awaiting us. I felt sort of strange to be driven by another person other than Michael. I had grown found of him been on the driver seat and me been on the passenger seat next to him. Not both of us been on the passenger seat at the back.
The view of the city was beautiful. With tall buildings here and there, monuments and all. I would spend all day in the car doing site seeing if I could. But we really had no time. It's such a waste. I mite not even be here for long and won't have time to walk around.
********************************************************
The car pulled up in front of the building I presume to be our hotel. I wasn't exactly surprised by the humongous building given that I had expect he would take a five star hotel. I'm guessing these are one of his favourites here in DC.
We pulled up front at the entrance and was welcomed by the valets who opened the door for us.
"Welcome to the four seasons ma'am and sir. Hope you have a great stay here."
Excuse me did he just say Four seasons as in the Four seasons hotel Seattle? No freaking way!!! This was the hotels where all the rich gang come to. I'm sorry I put it that way. I mean, this place is like for the businessmen, the players, the artist, the politicians... you get what I mean.
"Thank you." we both replied simultaneously. Well I did, but Michael more like mumbled it out so it came out a little groggily. I sent a weak smile to the valet and followed Michael into the hotel with our luggage close behind us.
The only thing I've come so close to the four seasons was from a novel, and that says a lot, as pathetic as it sounds.
"You never told me we had be lodging here."I said to him when we got to the desk of the receptionist.
"Well you didn't really ask either. You got a problem with the place? Because the meeting had be in one of the meeting halls here."
"Nope. I'm not allergic to luxury as much I know." I replied sarcastically. "And I wasn't complaining. I just thought you had tell me before hand so I had know the kind of environment I had be facing. I mean hello does cultural shock ring a bell to you?" I said the last part in a duh tone laced with a lot of sarcasm.
"Yes." he said nodding, "it does ring a bell. M..."
"Welcome to the Four seasons how may I help you sir and ma'am?" The receptionist asked looking back and forth between us.
Narrowing his eyes at me before turning to face the lady behind the desk. "A reservation for two under Mr Donovan." He replied.
She looked through her desktop and smiled next. "A two room reservation on the Deluxe Bay view suite for Mr Michael Jonathan Donovan. Got it. You can collect your room cards from my other colleague just here." She replied pointing to the next person at the adjourning desk. We moved over to her and I could see she already had the cards on her desk.
"Mr Donovan..." she stopped half way through her words as she drank in the perfectly sculpted features of the Michel Angelo piece I was walking with then bit on her lower lip twirling her hair between her fingers. "... your cards. Call me in case of anything. I'm Beth by the way" she said in a seductive tone which made me snort at her lame attempt of being sultry. She passed the cards over to Michael making sure their hands touched each other's. I rolled my eyes turning the other way: I couldn't take anymore.
"Sure." He replied before leading us into the glass lift.
We bypassed Fran's Chocolate and I took a mental note to stop by when I'm free. Then got lost into the lift. We stopped at a hallway with multiple beige coloured doors. Hmm… cool color. And the room numbers were engraved on glass and attached to each door. My room number is the 621 and Michael's was before mine so I guess he would be the 620. We got into the room and I gasped at how spacious it was. A bed big enough for two, a beautiful red lamp on the nightstand, a chaise lounge close to the window. Just beautiful.
"You like it?" He asked.
"I could get use to it." I replied.
"Good. I'll be in my room. If you need anything just let me know." He said handing me my room card. "And you should rest. You'll need it." he said moving out of the room. I looked around taking in my room.
"I had definitely get use to this." I said falling onto the soft cottony fabrics of the bed linens with a sigh.
