Crossover Shipgirls: Building a Dimensional Empire from Scratch

Chapter 44: I Want to Place a Teleportation Anchor in Your Bedroom

A dozen days later.

Outside the city.

A group of Bulins with pink braids, wearing open-chest dresses, stood at a construction site holding blueprints.

Unlike the purple Bulins with wrenches or the golden Bulins with drills, these colorful Bulins carried mechanical hammers larger than themselves.

The hammerheads were uniquely shaped like cat paws.

These were Specialized Bulins, the smartest and most advanced members of the Bulin family.

Only they were capable of handling high-level projects like constructing wonders.

"Let's get to work, burin!!"

Hundreds of colorful Bulins began swinging their cat-paw hammers. In no time, they cleared a circular area with a diameter of approximately 10 kilometers.

They then summoned a flock of small yellow chicks to assist, methodically digging the foundations and erecting the framework.

From above, the Sundial Array construction site was breathtakingly vast.

The radius of the core alone exceeded 5 kilometers, and including auxiliary buildings, the scale was even larger.

Even beside the massive city of Constantinople, it stood out dramatically.

The shipgirls couldn't help but marvel at how imposing a wonder could be.

Regardless of its function, its sheer size was already awe-inspiring.

On another side of the base, Akashi arrived with a few Bulins, carrying several large crates to Setsuna.

"Commander, the Dimensional Anchors are ready, meow. Do you want to try them out?"

"So quickly?"

Both Setsuna and Richelieu were surprised.

When they opened the crates, they found several translucent, light-blue column-like objects, roughly one meter tall.

The anchors resembled the teleportation waypoints from Teyvat, or perhaps the boundary-piercing devices from Stellaris.

"Although I don't fully understand the underlying principles, the Bulins managed to build them by following the blueprints, meow," Akashi explained, pulling out one of the Dimensional Anchors.

The device seemed to have built-in magnetic levitation, floating gently in the air.

"The Dimensional Anchors have one primary node and countless secondary nodes."

"Once the anchors are deployed across different worlds, you'll be able to teleport between nodes, meow."

"Of course, using the system requires biometric authentication. For secondary nodes to send a teleportation request, it must first be approved by the primary node."

As she spoke, Akashi set up a larger anchor.

"Commander, the primary node should be placed in this world. Where would you like it installed?"

Before Setsuna could respond, Taihou immediately answered for him:

"Put it in the Commander's bedroom! And install another anchor inside my hull!"

"???"

"Don't you two already spend most of your time living together?!" Richelieu asked, utterly bewildered.

Belfast's expression looked as though she'd seen a ghost.

"Sometimes the Commander isn't around, so this way, he can find Taihou anytime, anywhere…"

"Besides, certain pests keep sneaking in to change the locks on the Commander's room. Tsk, how troublesome," Taihou said while resting her chin in her hand.

"..."

Richelieu couldn't even muster the energy to complain about why Taihou always seemed to have a spare key to the Commander's room in her pocket.

After thinking for a moment, she made a serious suggestion:

"Why not place it in my hull? As the secretary ship, I need to assist the Commander with work at any time…"

"..."

Formidable, Belfast, and the other shipgirls were momentarily speechless.

"Stop! You two are tossing your schemes right in my face, meow."

Akashi squinted at the two of them.

"But unfortunately, the Dimensional Anchor is meant for interdimensional universe travel—it doesn't have short-range teleportation functions."

"Once the worlds are connected, it can accomplish many great things. Why are you both only thinking about sneaking into the Commander's quarters?!"

"..."

Taihou and Richelieu fell silent.

After pondering for a moment, Setsuna decided to place the Dimensional Anchor's primary node near the city gate.

Just like how every main city in a game has a teleportation waypoint nearby.

Once positioned, the anchor floated gently about half a meter off the ground.

The surrounding space locked into place, making it impossible to move the anchor even with immense force.

"The Dimensional Anchor is incredibly stable, meow. Even if attacked with a planet-destroying weapon, it won't budge," Akashi explained.

"Commander, I've already sent the blueprints to Azur Lane's port and delivered a few anchors to the other worlds as well. Do you want to give it a try, meow?" she added, her eyes gleaming with anticipation.

"Alright."

Setsuna placed his hand on the anchor.

Swish—

A holographic interface immediately appeared before him.

[Current Location: Primary Node]

[Select Jump Node:]

• Node 1: Azur Lane Port

• Node 2: Demon Slayer World

• Node 3: Chaldea

...

The menu was simple and intuitive.

Setsuna selected Node 1 and pressed firmly.

Swish—

With a flash of light, he blinked. When he opened his eyes again, he found himself standing in the square at the Azur Lane port.

Surrounding him was a large crowd of curious shipgirls, staring at him with wide eyes.

"Wow, Commander, you really teleported here?!"

"The information Akashi gave us actually worked? We spent so long building this!"

"Take me with you when you go back! I heard they've already built spaceships over there, and I want to go on adventures in other worlds too~~"

A group of small shipgirls surrounded Setsuna, chattering excitedly and begging to join him.

The stationed shipgirls, like Enterprise and Bismarck, looked on with surprise.

"Instant cross-world teleportation? … Incredible. Even more impressive than the time you manually opened a time-space tunnel," Enterprise remarked.

"This is an essential tool for a superdimensional civilization. Otherwise, managing other worlds would be a nightmare once the territory expands," Setsuna replied with a smile.

With one anchor per world, fleets could respond to emergencies within minutes.

Rebellion? Uprising?

Not a chance—an annihilation-class starship could show up at your doorstep in five minutes.

"Anyone want to come back with me?"

"Me, me, me, me!"

The shipgirls at the port eagerly volunteered. With the anchor in place, there was no longer any fear of a Siren sneak attack. They could teleport back at any time to defend the base.

Swish—

As the shipgirls approached the anchor, it displayed several messages:

[Teleportation Request Received.]

[Requester: Avenger]

[Identification Code: XXXXX]

[Teleportation Target: Node 1 - Primary Node]

First-time users of the anchor required approval from the primary node.

"All approved."

Setsuna added them to the list of users allowed free teleportation.

Buzz—

A flash of white light enveloped the group, and their forms briefly flickered.

In less than a breath, Setsuna and a dozen shipgirls from the port arrived next to the anchor at the capital city.

"Wow—so fast!!!"

"Does this mean we can visit here anytime now?"

The newly arrived shipgirls were thrilled, eagerly exploring and observing their surroundings.

"Of course. You can have breakfast at the port in the morning, watch the Bulins hammer away at the wonder here at noon, and head back to fight Sirens in the evening," Setsuna joked.

He quickly checked the group—no one was missing, and everyone seemed intact.

The entire teleportation process took less than ten seconds. It was as simple as blinking, making it an extremely efficient and convenient interdimensional transport system.

Just as the group was marveling at the system, a beep sounded.

The anchor displayed a new request: Ning Hai and Ping Hai from the Demon Slayer world were requesting teleportation.

[Teleportation Request Received.]

[Requesters: Ning Hai, Ping Hai]

[Teleportation Target: Node 2 → Node 1]

This was a direct teleportation from the Demon Slayer world to the Azur Lane port.

After Setsuna approved the request, the two sisters appeared in the port's harbor area, accompanied by a group of Bulins loaded with supplies.

"Getting back home is so much easier now! We finally don't have to stay in that world all the time," Ning Hai and Ping Hai excitedly reported to Setsuna.

The sisters were in charge of managing the Demon Slayer world. Every time they went there to oversee construction or collect resources, they had to wait for Setsuna to open a portal to return.

Now, they could freely travel back and forth at any time.

They could direct the locals during the day and still come home for dinner in the evening.

"Can it enable travel between secondary nodes?"

"Could enemies from other worlds teleport to the port?" Formidable frowned at the thought and raised her concern.

"No, travel between secondary nodes still requires approval from the primary node, meow," Akashi explained.

"Without proper biometric authorization, no one can use the Dimensional Anchors."

"Can you give me one too? With it, I think I could solo Singularities!" Gudako suddenly raised her hand.

"What would you need a Dimensional Anchor for?" Setsuna asked, puzzled.

"Look, you're so busy, right? You can't possibly accompany me to every single Singularity, can you?" Gudako reasoned.

"For the difficult ones, you can come with me, but I can handle the easier ones myself. You'll still provide me with resources and teammate support, right?"

Setsuna nodded.

"Then if I bring a Dimensional Anchor to the Singularities, in case I run into an enemy I can't beat, I could call reinforcements directly from you, couldn't I?"

"Chaldea's Spiritron Calculation Engine can only send seven people at a time. With the Dimensional Anchor, wouldn't I be able to summon as many as I need? You've got so many shipgirls—together, we could gang up on the boss!"

Gudako's argument was confident and bold.

"I'll go in as the vanguard, and you'll back me up."

"..."

Setsuna exchanged glances with the Heroic Spirits and shipgirls.

"You're quite the little genius."
