Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Rachel's faith.
As she followed him, the man led Rachel to a sleek, black car parked by the curb. He opened the door for her, and Rachel hesitated for a moment before getting in. The door shut behind her, and the man entered the car, sitting beside the driver.
Rachel noticed that there was already a driver at the front, who nodded at the man as he got in. "Where would you like to go, Mr. Lauren?" the driver asked, looking straight at the man with respect.
The man smiled. "Just take us home."
Mr. Lauren? Rachel's ears perked up at the name. "Mr. Lauren?" she asked, turning to the man.
The man turned to her, a warm smile on his face. "Yes, that's me. And you are...?"
Rachel hesitated for a moment before responding. "Umm, Ra...Rachel...Call me Rachel."
The man chuckled. "Alright, I will call you Aunt Rachel."
Rachel's eyes widened in surprise, but before she could respond, the man continued. "Thank you is not necessary, Rachel. We're just glad to be able to help."
As they drove, Rachel couldn't help but steal glances at Lauren. There was something about him that seemed kind and genuine, and she found herself feeling grateful for his help.
After a while, the car turned into a long, winding driveway. Rachel's eyes widened as she caught sight of the house in the distance. It was a beautiful, sprawling mansion with a large, manicured lawn. The background was stunning, filled with vibrant flowers and towering trees.
Rachel's jaw dropped as the car pulled up to the front door. "This...this is your home?" she stammered.
Lauren chuckled. "Yes, it is. Welcome to my humble abode, Rachel."
The driver opened the door, and Lauren stepped out, offering Rachel his hand. She took it, feeling a little dazed as she stepped out of the car.
As they walked towards the front door, Rachel couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder. She had never seen a house like this before, and she couldn't believe that she was actually going to be staying here.
Lauren opened the front door, and Rachel stepped inside, her eyes scanning the beautiful interior. She felt like she had stepped into a different world, one that was far removed from the hardships and struggles she had faced on the streets.
"Make yourself at home, Aunt Rachel," Lauren said, smiling at her. "You're safe now."
Rachel's eyes widened in awe as she stepped into the grand foyer of Lauren's mansion. "Wow," she exclaimed, her voice barely above a whisper. She had seen stunning houses in her village in Ashwood City, but none of them could compare to this one. The high ceilings, the crystal chandeliers, and the exquisite artwork on the walls all seemed to blend together in perfect harmony.
As she followed Lauren through the house, Rachel couldn't help but feel like she had entered a different world. Everything about the house seemed to exude luxury and sophistication, from the plush carpets under her feet to the elegant furnishings that adorned every room.
Finally, Lauren led her to a beautiful bedroom, complete with a four-poster bed and a stunning en-suite bathroom. Rachel's eyes widened as she took in the sheer opulence of the room.
"This is...this is incredible," she stammered, feeling like she had stumbled into a fairy tale.
Lauren smiled, seemingly pleased with her reaction. "I'm glad you like it," he said. "You can stay here for as long as you need. Now, why don't you take a shower and get changed? I'll send a maid up with some clothes for you."
Rachel nodded, still feeling a little dazed. As Lauren turned to leave, she called out to him. "Thank you, Mr. Lauren. Thank you so much."
Lauren turned back to her, a warm smile on his face. "Please, Rachel. Call me Lauren. We're not formal here."
With that, he left the room, closing the door behind him. Rachel was left standing alone in the beautiful bedroom, feeling like she was living in a dream.
