Chapter 6: Is it wrong to be popular?
All I need is a few more skills, knowledge, magic and I'd have accomplished my goals, right? At what point do I have enough to make all this make sense to me. What do I need?
Restless thoughts swirled in my head as I walked into the guild, surprised at how it appeared, and my body drew every eye in the room. I tried to be unbothered by the eyes that seemed to practically undress me.
-Yet none seem to have the balls to approach me here..scum
I felt bitter by their responses to seeing me as I would've preferred to be met with someone a bit brave.
-An easy meal, to be fair
They stared, wide-eyed and awestruck, unable to look away. I didn't need to glance around to confirm it; I could feel their admiration, their envy, their want. My charm practically radiated off me in waves.
-With all this gazing I should train it into being helpful to my prowess
I didn't care besides that thought. I had one goal today, and I walked straight to the teller section only to gun it towards…Eina Tulle.
Her head was bent over a pile of documents, her emerald eyes flicking back and forth as she worked with mechanical precision. But when I approached, she froze. Her hand slipped, the pen nearly dropping from her fingers as she glanced up at me.
"Ah—uh, hello"she stammered, her calm professionalism immediately cracking. She quickly straightened in her seat, her cheeks turning the faintest shade of pink. "W-Welcome to the guild. My name is Eina..How…may I assist you today?"
I leaned against the counter, in hopes to make her even more shy. "I need to register as an adventurer, pretty please." My voice was soft, lilting, just enough to make her fidget.
Eina nodded hurriedly, fumbling to pull out a blank form. "Of course. Um, your name?"
"Fera Kaelith," I said smoothly, then added, "Oh, but make sure to put two parallel lines down the middle, like 'the second.' That's important."
Her pen hovered over the paper, her brows furrowing as if to ponder and after she wrote my name she asked me, "Two… parallel lines? What's the significance?"
I shrugged, smirking faintly. "It's what my adoptive mother named me. Well, sort of. More like she describes as "Fera lI", but the rest? Let's just say it's complicated."
Eina blinked, her flustered expression softening into something gentler. "I see…it's a beautiful name."
I chuckled, resting my head in my palm as I lean on the counter. "You're sweet to say that, but it's not really. Real mother abandoned me when I was little and my adoptive mother, a goddess, gave me the name of the one who abandoned me. Guess it's fitting because any other name would feel superficial", I chuckle to myself letting my voice drift off.
I could tell she was confused so I added, "My goddess, my adoptive mother known as Bherea, is a really weird person. Blunt to be exact"
Her emerald eyes widened, and her grip on the pen tightened. "I'm…I'm so sorry?" she said softly, her voice trembling slightly despite her effort to sound composed.
"It's fine," I said with a dismissive wave, though I couldn't hide the faint enjoyment in my voice watching her mind race. "She's probably alive somewhere, not that it matters. I've got other things to worry about now."
Eina nodded, biting her lip as she returned to the form. Her hands shook ever so slightly as she wrote. "Your Familia?"
I grinned, watching her carefully. "Ishtar Familia."
The pen stopped. She froze for a moment, then glanced up at me, her expression caught between shock and something like dismay. "I… I see," she said carefully, though her tone betrayed her discomfort.
"Don't worry," I said, leaning in just a little closer. "The reputation may speak for itself, but I get pretty sweet treatment over there in a good way"
Her cheeks flushed deeper, and she looked down quickly, her hand gripping the pen as if to anchor herself. "I-I didn't mean to—"
"It's fine as no offense taken," I interrupted, flashing her a soft, almost teasing smile. "I'm not ashamed of who it. Ishtar chose me for a reason, after all. She's nice to me anyways"
Eina nodded, though her movements were stiff, her usual grace faltering. She quickly finished filling out the form and pushed it toward me. "Please sign here," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
-I guess being casual was pointless if she can't act normal against my [Charm], not that Im against it..
I took the pen, letting my fingers brush against hers. Her reaction was immediate—a sharp intake of breath, her entire body stiffening before she pulled her hand back as though burned at the touch.
"Sorry," she mumbled, her face now a bright shade of crimson.
I smiled at her feigning naivety, signing the form with an exaggerated flourish. "So, do I get an advisor? Or are you just going to leave me to fend for myself?"
Eina looked up at me, visibly flustered but trying desperately to compose herself. "Adventurers are assigned advisors based on compatibility," she said, her words rushed. "Though…I-I suppose I could…assist you personally if needed."
"Really? That's great!" I said, leaning in even closer. "You're so dedicated. I'd feel much safer with someone like you guiding me. I love you, Eina"
Her lips parted as if to respond, but no words came out as she dropped some papers she was arranging.
As watching someone become a red painting was twisted a pleasure of mine this was one of the two ways I found enjoyment in the art of it.
The other being mutilation one sweet and the other bitter. I grinned cutely at Eina.
She quickly turned her attention back to the form, her hands trembling slightly as she gathered the papers clumsily doing her best to regain her composure.
"Well, Kaelith-san," she said, forcing a smile and raising her voice as if to establish her presence. "Welcome to the guild. I'll, um, be in touch soon to go over…your orientation. Please stay in the area and have a seat", as soon as she said that she had scurried off in the most contained way she could.
I watched her walk away realizing I was attracted to her already. If not for the gazes on me from the other guild workers I would've remained where I was to watch Eina walk away as there was something alluring about it.
I let out a sigh and looked towards the section of empty seats and took one. I knew this would happen as despite all the gazes on me this one was the hardest. I did not have a gaze sense ability attuned to Bell's future level but it was obvious to notice the strong alluring Gaze of an Amazoness approaching you.
She stood infront of me not caring for my personal space and looked down at me. It was none other than Aisha Belka the one Amazoness most relevant in my knowledge of Danmachi.
"Yes? I tried to smile amicably but could sense she had hostile intent.
"You have a name? Mine's Aisha"
"Mine's a trade secret", I smiled trying to make light of her.
"Huh?", it sounded more like a growl as she pressed her leg in between mine and looked down at me as I sat. One thing for certain, I'm not getting out of this chair till she wants me too. "You think you're funny huh?"
"The name is Fae according to Ishtar and no. I was just being honest. Perhaps, youre just not used to being treated civilly or forgot what it feels like to have a man to respect", my gaze focuses on hers again.
Even without my skill, I could just feel the irritation she was feeling towards me.
-with someone like Aisha it's irrelevant to use the skill for now. there's a time and place for it.
"You've got a dirty mouth, doll face", she grabbed my face and I immediately slapped her hand away with the strength I had and my expression becoming serious as she ruined my mood.
"Ishtar sent you? Maybe I should complain and see what that gets you", I said with a mocking expression.
"Gonna run and cry to your mama, little boy?", she said smugly and intuitively grasping my relationship with Ishtar on a sensitive level.
-I walked right into that one
I sighed, "Unlike you, I don't have to be her bitch to get what I want. If anything you've got it worse than me as just another brute that's a paltry of a woman…like any other amazoness"
-If all else fails, be racist
I forcefully tried to free myself and the noise from the chair's front legs rising then falling back to the ground as Aisha pushed me back down in the seat caused onlookers to gaze in our direction.
Like any other classic victim of racism she retaliated by tightening her grip on me and pinning me into this chair whilst looking as dominating as ever. I bet onlookers would believe we were a couple of exhibitionists on first glance due to the purposeful tension in Aisha's every move in getting a hold on me.
"So you're more than just a pretty little mama's boy. Good. Very good. It'll be all the more fun breaking you!", she is very excited based on the manic grin on her face as she manhandled me.
Before I could demonstrate my aversion to Aisha's grip on me I head a loud voice boom, "Fae!", Eina's sharp voice cut through the growing tension between us and her heels clacked loudly right before she shouted, "Enough! This is the guild! Not some back-alley hoker's brawl, Amazoness!", she grew hostile to Aisha to defend me.
-Ow~how hot didn't know she had that in her
Aisha scoffed, "Watch yourself, Elf", clearly the feisty amazoness was not backing down so easily and already began sizing up Eina.
Eina did not hold back even getting infront of me and Aisha to make distance between us which I used as an opportunity to stare at her backside. Eina retorted, "This isn't your territory, Amazoness! Handle your matters elsewhere and don't lay a hand on him or I'll make sure you regret it!", and she totally asserted herself for me.
"Oh? And what are you gonna do? Read books to me to death?", Aisha rested her hands on her hips and had remained mocking towards Eina.
"Try me", Eina's eyes remained resolute, defensive and protective of me.
A tense silence followed. Onlookers were either ready to step in or just curious. Practically the entirety of everyone in the guild zeroed in on our confrontation, so after a long moment, Aisha finally took a step back and looked away. "Tch. Fine. But don't think that this is over".
Aisha strides away without consequence and my eyes stayed fix on her as she got away out the door of the guild and on to whatever it is she pleases.
Eina turned around and knelt to my eye level and looked at me, "Are you okay?", she seemed very caring towards me already.
"Yeah, I'm okay. Don't worry about it. Is it time for the orientation?", I smiled at her blushing just by being near to me which is a good sign.
"Ok, follow me", she tried to calm herself and began leading me away to the room where I'll probably be lectured.
-The issue with that is that that's too much…
As I walked closely behind her I took secretive glances at her figure realizing that Eina really was attractive in every proportion and personality.
-If I use [All-Flesh] on her then I wouldn't need to study anything…I'd just copy dungeon knowledge and not worry about anything else.
I took a few quick breaths and realized what that meant.
I need to have sex
