Dark Fantasy: Super Coward Mode

Chapter 181

Hello, this is No Backward Charge, the one who serialized “Super Coward Mode: Dark Fantasy.”

Yes, that’s right.

The story, long yet short, has come to a full stop.

Honestly, I have a lot to say about this novel, but if I wrote it all down, I fear the review alone would exceed 10,000 characters—so I’ll try to summarize as best as I can.

As you all know, this work was created in collaboration with author Yoguksotos, the creator of “The Funeral Ainz,” and we worked together on it up to around episode 44.

It all stemmed from a friend’s casual suggestion: “How about writing a story about a mentally unstable protagonist who wears a cone hat, plays a party flute, and sees hideously monstrous creatures as cute girls?” And here we are now.

Then there’s the stubborn yet effortlessly cool protagonist typical of the soul-like genre, along with a chatty rogue who plays an essential role—this trio, oddly mismatched but somehow perfectly fitting together, was such an intriguing combination upon reflection.

Though it became a bit of a burden when Yoguksotos had to drop out midway due to personal reasons and academics, I had set up a rough storyline leading to the conclusion, so it wasn’t too heavy for me to continue.

Most importantly, I credit the readers who followed until the end for helping me reach that conclusion.

Thank you.

This work meant a tremendous amount to me.

It allowed me to make my first attempt at serialization online when I was always too scared to write more than just drafts in Hangul with my previous work, “I Pretended to Be Dead After Saving Chapter Bosses.” It showcased my shortcomings and enabled me to self-reflect more than ever.

I can’t list every single thing here, but I felt acutely aware of various shortcomings in my writing style.

That’s why I developed a strong affection for this story and never wanted to let it go.

Even when my body weakened, my mental state spiraled down, and time ran short, I crawled to the desk to write.

Pressing the alarm with a red dot while chuckling to myself was a genuinely happy time.

Of course, there were plenty of episodes where I questioned if what I wrote even resembled Korean, and I sometimes wished I could’ve elaborated on certain parts.

That’s purely my inadequacy as a writer.

However, with my current skills, I believe it’s the best result I could produce.

If my work has provided even a small daily joy for those who enjoyed it, I’m just grateful for that.

This work will undoubtedly remain a wonderful memory for me.

No doubt about it.

Receiving fan art for the first novel I created and delegating my first commission… even making emoticons!

The last six months or so have felt like an endless series of miracles.

Even though it was busy, tough, and full of struggles, each day was truly happy.

Now, I’ll wrap up my rambling and answer some questions from the Q&A.

1. Can you tell us about the character relationships?

The Watcher, Gardener, Cook, Dragon Slayer, Record Keeper, Nutricha, Observer, Muyun, Princess, Asti, Hunter, and finally, the Second Princess—these are all characters who have positive feelings towards Leydan.

Lia is like a daughter figure.

The Deputy Director and Knight Commander are in a loving relationship.

The character Leydan Tanton was a knight belonging to Lintpia before the empire fell.

The God of War was the Deputy Director of Lintpia.

The ‘Elite Outsider’ from the Idea Level who goes by the name of “Utdeum” has a close relationship with Gaia, who seems a bit of an oddball.

The God of War and Muyun are father and daughter.

Interrogator, Asti, and Lia are connected in this way.

The Interrogator views Asti and Lia purely as means to achieve her objectives.

Both Lia and Asti do not have a favorable opinion of the Interrogator.

Demeter and the Emperor are married.

Their two children are the Princess and the Second Princess.

Demeter and the Emperor love their children dearly, but the vibe seems to have soured due to Gaia’s interference.

That’s about it from what I’ve recorded so far.

If you have any questions about any relationships I might have missed, feel free to leave a comment anytime.

2. When will you be writing 19+ content?

I sincerely apologize, but I do not plan to write 19+ content in this work.

There were moments in the writing process where I might have gotten a bit excited and written some steamy scenes, but those moments can be considered more of a sudden surge.

I apologize once again.

3. Was the current development outlined before serialization or was it improvised?

The overall story was fully planned out from the beginning.

And… regarding the developments, I wrote everything without missing a single point.

The only thing that changed was the atmosphere.

Perhaps due to the writer’s lack of ease, even when trying to write cheerfully, the story kept turning serious instead.

I suppose that’s also a flaw of mine as a writer.

To answer your question succinctly, I’ll say it was planned out from the early stages.

4. What levels of Outsiders can the Hunter face?

The Hunter can handle Outsiders at the regional level, excluding the Gardener and Fiore.

In terms of game specs, by the latter half, she would have the power to fight against Outsiders at the Idea Level without any issue. However, in the current setting I’m writing, Tanton has essentially taken over the Hunter’s role, so she hasn’t grown to that extent yet.

Now, let’s move on to the most important discussions regarding spin-offs.

I don’t anticipate many episodes for them.

I’m thinking around 3 to 5, with a maximum of 10.

I understand some of you may feel disappointed.

But from a writer’s perspective, it means I have already showcased all the episodes I could present before concluding the main story.

I expect to start the spin-off serialization about 10 days from now.

I’ll need those 10 days to regain my health.

Anyway… that’s all the writer wanted to say.

To the wonderful readers who followed until the end.

To author Yoguksotos, who built the universe with me.

And to my editor, who supported my writing.

I extend my heartfelt thanks.

Now I will truly lessen my words.

I hope the path ahead shines beautifully.

Best regards, No Backward Charge.
